[Bug 458577] Re: no wireless with ipw2200 on karmic
Marking Fix Released since it works in NM. If anybody could report the apparmor issue against wicd if you have it, then we could look into it and fix that too. [Bug 458577] Re: no wireless with ipw2200 on karmic
Tried several but none worked, I'm already thinking about giving a try to ndiswrapper. Using an Intel ipw2200 on a Fujitsu-siemens amilo m1425. By the way, I'm using xubuntu and getting this on dmesg: [162405.881841] ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): eth0: link is not ready [162405.907194] ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): eth1: link is not ready [162407.962951] type=1400 audit(1299985366.210:23): apparmor=DENIED operation=open parent=19320 profile=/sbin/dhclient3 name=/var/lib/wicd/dhclient.conf pid=19333 comm=dhclient requested_mask=r denied_mask=r fsuid=0 ouid=0 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/458577 Title: no wireless with ipw2200 on karmic -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 458577] Re: no wireless with ipw2200 on karmic
@ Daniel Monedero: I'm no apparmor expert but that suggests to me that apparmor is denying permission for dhclient to open the config file. There is a way to turn any given apparmor profile so that it will complain but not prevent an action. See if you can turn that on for the relevant profile. Or temprarily disable apparmor. It might be worth a question in Launchpad or your local Linux Users Group. If that is your problem, you currently see the wireless part of the network set up correctly (which you can confirm with iwconfig) but not the IP interface set up correctly (ifconfig). If you can disable apparmor or that profile, and that is your problem, you should see both set up correctly (or some other problem, sigh). Or try going back to NetworkManager. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/458577 Title: no wireless with ipw2200 on karmic -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 458577] Re: no wireless with ipw2200 on karmic
You're right, Charles. [Bug 458577] Re: no wireless with ipw2200 on karmic
IBM T41, Intel hardware, fresh Lucid: I see the problem only at a customer site, not at home. Home site uses WEP-128, customer site uses WEP-40. Customer WLAN is recognized, long delay, NM will eventually ask for the key over and over. Attempted to use iwconfig eth1 essid ID (with NM running, though), this resulted in a garbled ssid output for the device when iwconfig was listed. -- no wireless with ipw2200 on karmic https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/458577 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 458577] Re: no wireless with ipw2200 on karmic
I confirm this on a fresh install of Lucid on a ASUS W6A laptop with an Intel 2200 chip. The process always seems to go OK until IP address receiving that fails. I confirm this on IBM t41 with intel wireless 2100 chip. To me it seems network-manager now starts too early and kernel reports back link not ready.
