Hi,
I don't know why this bug still applies to udev. AFAICT, udev is no more
supposed to handle the switching. I reported bug #519216 to get the
latest usb-modeswitch version from Debian in Lucid. I can't do more.

What about the modem-modeswitch tool? Will it be able to do the switching now? Why do we have 2 tools for that anyway? USB-modeswitch is already included in Karmic. It's just not installed by default because it's in the universe repo. However, there is a modem-modeswitch tool installed by default which should be able to perform the same actions. hi again, i tested your solution but it doesn't work; i downloaded installed the lastest usb_modeswicth (link you gave me) it worked in 8.04 and 9.04 but not in 9.10 it doese't switch from usb_massStorage to modem even the default configuration in the /etc/usb_modeswitch is SAMSUNG U209 thank you for your help waiting for a fix ...!!!
