I have set CUPs to create debug error logs. I tried to print two photos. The first printed without any problems. Then nothing happened with the next one and it sat Processing for ages. Now it is stuck in a loop (which I have seen on this machine before) of saying Held until [time], Processing and then straight back to Held until [time]. Clicking Release takes it back to Held until [time]. I have tried restarting both the printer and the laptop. I have tried cancelling the job and redoing it, which does the same. This is still on Karmic. I am printing wirelessly to the printer, if that makes any difference. I will attach my error log.?field.comment=I have set CUPs to create debug error logs. The error log from Lucid Lynx alpha 2. I booted in, printed a few test pages, opened the photo up and tried to print it. It sat there for ages before giving a printer disconnected message. I tried again. I select photos to print through HPLIP, change all the settings to be photo quality, 6x4 on photo paper through the photo tray and set it to print. This worked the first time, then it just spewed out A4 pages with a line or two of garbage (will attach) until I cancelled them all. I uninstalled HPLIP completely, removed the .hplip folder and reinstalled HPLIP and then got about 5 photos done before it did the same again. I tried doing the same again (and removed the printer in cups and re-detected it) but couldn't get it to print any more. I have another computer running Ubuntu 9.04 that is working perfectly (using hplip 3.9.2 -- I can't remember if I installed a new version from the site or used the standard one, but it is a lower version than the one in Karmic). Thanks a lot, Till. I'm very impressed to see you helping with this -- the work that you have done on printing in Mandrake (as it was when I used it) and Ubuntu has been amazing.
