[Bug 570233] Re: Computer boots to text when on battery power

2010-05-03 Thread Mina Azer
All,

I have the same issue with my HP tm 2000 with nivida 6150

This is what I found:
You will get this behavior if you upgrade the nvidia driver either from ubuntu
restricted drivers or by downloading the latest driver from nvidia.
I reinstalled my laptop and kept the driver that came with the installation and
the issue disappeared. I am able to reboot and get to gnome while on battary.
So it has to do with upgrading the video driver and something with power safe
.. just a guess.

Also, while upgrading the driver with the latest from nvidia I get:

THE DISTRIBUTION-PROVIDED PRE-INSTALL SCRIPT FAILED.
UNABLE TO LOAD nvidia.ko the kernel module
which is mentionaed in this link:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/572430

Hello!
I have amd64 Ubuntu 10.04 running on my
Hewlett-Packard HP Pavilion tx1000 Notebook PC

while it on battery power after loading splashscreen monitor turns
black. And i should for examlpe reopen the display, or press Ctrl+Alt+F1
 Ctrl+Alt+F7 to get it back.

[Bug 570233] Re: Computer boots to text when on battery power

2010-04-26 Thread Scott Thatcher
I should add a couple more things.

I initially assumed that it might have something to do with the
processor running slower while in battery power and something not being
detected or run in time, so the default going to text mode. However, the
behavior was unchanged when I changed BIOS settings to set the computer
to run at full speed even on battery power. I don't know how soon the OS
takes over control of power-saving, but I thought I'd add that bit of
information.

Also, I can't directly hit ALT-F7 or CTRL-ALT-F7 to get to the graphical
login. I do have to switch away to another screen first.
