Do you have an indicator-applet on your panel? ** Changed in: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Low ** Changed in: nautilus (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- Iconizing the Emptying Trash Window makes it disappear https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/575087 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 575087] Re: Iconizing the Emptying Trash Window makes it disappear
Hmm, I do not know what you mean. If you mean if there was a tray icon indicating that there is a file operation in progress, then no, there wasn't any. -- Iconizing the Emptying Trash Window makes it disappear https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/575087 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 575087] Re: Iconizing the Emptying Trash Window makes it disappear
There is an icon by default - it sounds like you don't have the indicator applet on your panel. I'll convert this in to a support request in the answer tracker, which is the more appropriate place for you to get help adding it back again ** Changed in: nautilus (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Invalid ** Converted to question: https://answers.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+question/109592 -- Iconizing the Emptying Trash Window makes it disappear https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/575087 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 575087] Re: Iconizing the Emptying Trash Window makes it disappear
Changing to invalid was a bit fast, I guess. There is an indicator for file operations if I copy eg. a large directory or similar. However this indicator did not appear when emptying the trash. Maybe the indicator does not appear while the empty trash-operation is counting files? ( This operation takes a ridiculous amount of time if the trash contains many files - I killed gvsd-trash after hours and it did not seem to even start to delete the first file, so there should be at least an indicator during this operation, i guess ). ** Changed in: nautilus (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid = Incomplete -- Iconizing the Emptying Trash Window makes it disappear https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/575087 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 575087] Re: Iconizing the Emptying Trash Window makes it disappear
Ok I tested it again with a large folder and now there is an indicator in the tray bar. I am absolutely sure that there was no indicator when I posted the bug report. Maybe the gvsd-trash process has gone wild during the last operation, however I can currently not repoduce it.
Could you please detail the steps you are taking to empty the trash? Are you using the panel applet to do that? (in which case, that's unrelated to nautilus anyway) -- Iconizing the Emptying Trash Window makes it disappear https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/575087 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 575087] Re: Iconizing the Emptying Trash Window makes it disappear
Ok, this is getting closer: I have probably clicked the empty trash menu item of the panel-applet the first time. This will not bring up the indicator icon in the tray bar. However when I do this now, the window is still in the window list of the panel but when I issued the bug report, I was not able to bring up the window in any way ( it was not in the windows list and it did not appear in the window switcher when I pressed ctrl+alt+tab which should bring up windows from all desktops IIRC ). -- Iconizing the Emptying Trash Window makes it disappear https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/575087 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
