Mitch,
I went through all the steps of setting up UbuntuOne, and assigned some
folders to be synced.

The folder structure synced pretty quickly, but the actual files just didn't
seem to progress at all. I made sure my machine was online for significant
periods, tried from our office LAN as well as from home, created a second
account, and tried again, but had no luck at all.

I regularly use Dropbox which (very simplistically speaking) does roughly
the same thing, and don't (or very rarely) have sync problems with that.

I'd be delighted to get this working, I'm hoping to convince my director to
implement Ubuntu across our organisation!

 Bug description:
 With a new installation of Ubuntu 10.04 on my ThinkPad notebook and an
 upgrade from 9.10 to 10.04 on my desktop computer, the UbuntuOne service
 simply does not work. I couldn't get one single file synced - no uploads, no
 downloads. Neither contacts nor any other files.

 I've tried for a couple of weeks, searching forums for help, but didn't
 find any question (or rather reply) that could solve my problem. (Haven't
 asked anyone yet)

 I just cancelled my account but might give it another try.

Hi Tim, unless you are somehow using the same computer (and account) as
the original reporter, please file a separate bug to help ease
diagnosing your specific issue. This can be done by running ubuntu-bug
ubuntuone-client from a terminal window.

I'm sorry to hear Ubuntu One is not working properly for you. If you
would like to help debug the problem that would be greatly appreciated.
You can do the following in order to provide important details that will
help determine the root cause of this issue.

1) Quit the Ubuntu One client. Open Applications-Accessories-Terminal, then 
run the command:
u1sdtool -q

2) Run the following in the Terminal:
mv ~/.cache/ubuntuone/log ~/.cache/ubuntuone/log_old  mkdir 
~/.cache/ubuntuone/log

3) Run the following in the Terminal to open/create this file:
gedit ~/.config/ubuntuone/syncdaemon.conf

#Add the following two (2) lines to this file and save:
[logging]
level = DEBUG

4) Run the following in the Terminal to start the ubuntu one deamon/service:
u1sdtool -c

5) Let Ubuntu One run for a while, copy some files into your Ubuntu One Folder. 
Then attach your ubuntuone logs to this bug. Please zip your 
$HOME/.cache/ubuntuone/log/ folder and attach the zip here.

You can attach logs to this bug report by clicking the 'Add Attachment
or patch' button at the bottom of the page. Thank you for filing this
