No idea, I am not running Ubunutu any longer. I am now on Debian and I haven't got a problem with firefox. Hi John, Tried that already, no difference. Is it possible that firefox doesn't like the /usr/lib/ path being on a link? I ran out of space and had to move the whole lot to another partition. I presume that -l actually means -I (for Info). The output is the same for mozilla-browser, mozilla-firefox and firefox: dpkg-deb: failed to read archive `mozilla-browser': No such file or directory dpkg-deb: failed to read archive `mozilla-firefox': No such file or directory dpkg-deb: failed to read archive `firefox': No such file or directory firefox was installed using synaptic (and it was then uninstalled and re-installed, using apt-get).
