Also download and install bug... downloaded files are dropped/erased if
not installed immediately. I had to re download Skype and Thunderbird
after waiting overnight to install. The files did not exist..

To Tags: kj-triage - Do you still need any testing kernel logs? Keyboard is
working...
Jeremy Foshee...do you still need kernel logs
Jeremy Foshee - do you still need additional upstream testing

Note: my other issue.. .of boot not going directly to login is still not
solved - doesnt matter on the kernel -32 bit or 64 bit... the boot goes
to an "ash" shell and I wait about a minute .. use "exit" and program
then goes to the login. I have made all prior recommended corrections
and the change is accepted but doesnt fix the problem at login. In any
event it appears to be be a delay setting... I will send the error
statement for your information... as it also occurs in this kernel on
the older HP laptop .. havent tried installing Ubuntu on the newer HP
laptop until I debug the older one... then I will partition the new one
and begin the transition.. I apologize for all the details..let me know
if you are interested

2010-12-01 Thread L R Bellmore Jr (Bob)
Never mind.. partitioning the hard drive... keyboard appears to work so
far.. will continue the tests you requested later... but right now it is
partitioning for the AMD64 install.. appears that it is going to work
fine.

Will this ISO boot from DVD? Or will it test the keyboard during the install so
I can tell before I go beyond the point of no return?

2010-12-01 Thread L R Bellmore Jr (Bob)
I downloaded and burned the ISO... Will this run from CD so I can test the
keyboard. I already have i386 running on the AMD64 laptop... I would hate to
have to do a complete re-install of the i386 if the keyboard doesnt work still
with the AMD64 version.
Let me know

[Bug 680034] Re: Keyboard not Recognized AMD64

2010-12-01 Thread Jeremy Foshee
Hi L,

Please be sure to confirm this issue exists with the latest development release
of Ubuntu. ISO CD images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily/current/ . If the issue remains, please run
the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal).
It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this
report.

apport-collect -p linux 680034

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be
great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue.
Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the
upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be
done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the
bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text.
Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.
