[Bug 72293] Re: Boot fs-check error - Differences between boot sector and back-up

2018-03-27 Thread MS Onenote Support
After some searching, I found the post who define the difference between
boot sector and back-up. The more output for boot fsck is available at
https://babasupport.org/microsoft/ms-onenote-customer-service/485. I
asked many of thing and he gives me lots of information about the
technology. You can also Ask for help, clarification, or respond to
other answers.

My apologies for not replying to this bug. I kinda lost sight of it (busy mail

The bug has no longer occured for me in Hardy (typing this from Hardy, by the
way), and I'm still using the same laptop.

[Bug 72293] Re: Boot fs-check error - Differences between boot sector and back-up

2008-08-15 Thread Duncan Lithgow
I just want to add that I had this problem often on my dualboot laptop
running Edgy and Feisty. The problem went away at some point and hasn't
been back. My system always worked fine, so used to often force a skip
of the check on my FAT32 drive(s). Not advisable though. Just thought
I'd mention that so you know you're not the only one Mathiasdm.

PS. If you reply using email please delete the quoted text before sending.
PPS. Mathiasdm, remeber you can update the original bug instead of posting the
new results as new messages. Seems better to me than leaving out of date info
starting the bug report.

2007-09-18 Thread Onno Benschop
Mathiasdm,

Very enterprising on the photos, can I buy a print :)

Just kidding. The command to get the output is:
 dosfsck -v -n

So from your photos, that would appear to be these two commands:
 dosfsck -v -n /dev/sda1
 dosfsck -v -n /dev/sda2

If you wouldn't mind attaching the output for those, then my head will
stop hurting from peering at photo 3 :)

Thanks for your input.

The output of fsck is available at
http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v128/Mathiasdm/dosfstools/
I'm sure there's some kind of command to see this too, but I don't know it ;-)
The boot loader is Grub, by the way.

I'll check on next boot if my BIOS setup has 'Logical Block Adressing'
activated.

/media/sda1 turned out to be a 'Norton Ghost' partition, so I can reinstall
Windows.
/media/sda2 and sda5 are Windows partitions.

Hi Mathiasdm,

Thanks for your reporting. Can you tell us which version of dosfstools
you are using, because recently a few bugs were fixed in Feisty's
version.

I also note that you said: "if you stop the check for /dev/hda1", does
the file system actually have a problem?

Can you please attach the output of:
 dosfsck -v -n
