[Bug 74615] Re: Evolution will consume ~90% CPU when you switch user
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. I'm closing this bug report for now, since nobody has experienced the same issue, if someone do, the bug will be re-opened, thanks in advance. ** Changed in: evolution (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid -- Evolution will consume ~90% CPU when you switch user https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/74615 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 74615] Re: Evolution will consume ~90% CPU when you switch user
evolution works fine and use almost no CPU on all my boxes, you are probably using some plugin or setting triggering that, not easy to track for somebody not getting the problem. If you don't think you are technically able to work on the problem and other people don't get the bug to work on it it's likely it's not going to be fixed soon -- Evolution will consume ~90% CPU when you switch user https://launchpad.net/bugs/74615 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 74615] Re: Evolution will consume ~90% CPU when you switch user
somebody having the problem should investigate and maybe use sysprof or some profiling tool to figure what it's doing I'm sorry, but this comment goes straight into Clifford Stoll http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clifford_Stoll territory. I don't know how to use this sysprof or other unnamed profiling tool in order to determine what will make evolution stop sucking. It's a fact, on this machine, that it will consume *nearly all of CPU* if left to itself. I've run enough 'sudo kill' against the evolution process to seriously consider asking the S.O. to switch to a more intelligently designed http://diveintomark.org/archives/2006/06/26/essentials-2006 e-mail client. But, it's my cross to bear as it was me that switched us to GNU/Linux + Gnome in the first place - and the default Gnome e-mail client (evolution) is total suck. -- Evolution will consume ~90% CPU when you switch user https://launchpad.net/bugs/74615 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Marking unconfirmed, the backtraces are not really useful, somebody having the problem should investigate and maybe use sysprof or some profiling tool to figure what it's doing ** Changed in: evolution (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Low Status: Needs Info = Unconfirmed -- Evolution will consume ~90% CPU when you switch user https://launchpad.net/bugs/74615 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thanks for your bug. Could you get a backtrace (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Backtrace) of evolution-alarm when that's happening? ** Changed in: evolution (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) = Ubuntu Desktop Bugs Status: Unconfirmed = Needs Info -- Evolution will consume ~90% CPU when you switch user https://launchpad.net/bugs/74615 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
