I forgot which link/bug report suggested that I do this, but enabling the "proposed" archive for Natty fixed the problem for me. The package linux-firmware in oneiric carries newer firmware for BCM43224[1]. I think it is a good idea to try whether this solves the issue. The freezing still occurs here with 2.6.39 but with a lower frequency. The freezing problem has not repeated from around two weeks. My problem is that I contracted a 50Mbps connection but in linux I just get 20Mbps but in windows I get 50Mbps. I left mine on a number of days without freezing. I am using rc5. I've found 2.6.39 rc5 to be quite stable. Wireless is full speed 5ghz and stable. I don't use 2.4Ghz though. Thanks Mahmoud Such a kernel from that ppa[1] is probably the best choice for now, as it is an ubuntu kernel unlike the ones from the ubuntu mainline archive[2]. I see the driver has been renamed from brcm80211 (in kernel 2.6.38[3]) to brcmsmac (in kernel 2.6.39[4]). Could you both test with the ubuntu kernel from proposed[1] (currently corresponding to 2.6.38.4 stable). I see you are using different drivers.
