John, This discussion relates to a specific bug backing up databases in gnome-pilot. It's not the best place to discuss bluetooth sync issues. Are you using gnome-pilot? If so, bluetooth synchronisation is not supported until version 2.0.16, which is not yet available in Ubuntu (as far as I know). Can someone write this solution as a HOWTO? I have a Palm-TX that I would like to sync w/Kontact using bluetooth but so far I only get the Palm and PC to recognize each other but then the Palm reports the connection could not be established. I'm hoping this discussion might lead me in the right direction. Here's a potential workaround: add PmTraceDatabase to the list of files to exclude from the backup conduit. I experience similar problems here: * xubuntu 7.10, installed evolution , gnome-pilot and gnome-pilot-conduits * using a tungsten e2 on /tev/ttyUSB1 * Sync and Backup with pilot-xfer from comandline works perfectly When using gnome-pilot, HotSync gets interrupted. I noticed pilot-xfer is not getting this db, so I tried unsetting the Backup ATTR on the Pilot via filez, but that didnt help. I just had the same error while synchronizing my palm TX with freshly installed Gutsy. With Feisty I never experienced anything like this, and I changed nothing in the palm/desktop config. After I closed the gnome-pilot dialog, the applet's icon stays green. On any attempt to restart/pause daemon it keeps telling me the synchronization wasn't finished I that I have to wait for it to finish. There's no way to restart the daemon from the applet's menu. 'killall gpilotd' doesn't help either. Surprisingly, the hotsync still works and finishes without problems, although the gnome-pilot status window does not appear during the sync. I have the same problem in Feisty. pilot-link and jpilot work fine, for sync and backup. I've changed settings to use libusb, but the problem persists and even became worse. pilot-xfer -p usb: -s test synchronizes folder nicely without any error. But when using gpilotd sync doesn't finish.
