Also when the bug is present, besides ALT+Tab switcher being under other windows, I noticed that cursor pointers don't show correctly. For example, in a window border, the mouse pointer should get a different icon, like =>| but it doesn't. It is always the default pointer. When docked, it's connected to two monitors (laptop screen not used), and when not docked, it reverts to just the laptop screen. Had to restart the OS (Ubuntu 14.04 64-bit) to get the alt-tab menu and the unity bar out from behind every window and back to the front.
