Also please note that this is an issue with all themes other than the default Human icon theme. The Human theme has its own icons for the GPM. I'm afraid the issue hasn't been resolved. The previous comment was a false positive. The issue seemed to be resolved because of the bug in gnome-panel, that made the panel bigger than usual (24px), with the latest gnome-panel update, the panel is back to normal size, but the issue with the icon is evident again.
