I'm afraid the issue hasn't been resolved. The previous comment was a false positive.
The issue seemed to be resolved because of the bug in gnome-panel, that made the panel bigger than usual (24px), with the latest gnome-panel update, the panel is back to normal size, but the issue with the icon is evident again.
