I am experiencing this exact problem on an nVidia Quadro 160M, latest binary nvidia driver, latest version of vte and both xfce terminal and gnome-terminal (in Gentoo). Did this get reported to gnome.org, already, and if so, can somebody link to it? Do we know what application this should be filed under? Can confirm this for nvidia card in laptop, have this problem mostly when using SSH. I just rebuilt vte 0.16.4-0ubuntu2 on Feisty and -- so far -- am happy with that version. I'm also seeing this a lot. I use the ATI driver and run full screen gnome-terminal sessions, all running screen. I switch between virtual desktops a lot and it only happens when I switch and will go away on a redraw (i.e. pressing ctrl-l in the terminal). I'm attaching a screenshot that shows an example of the corruption I get. The actual window is a dselect session, so it's the whole lower half of the screen which is corrupt. I can confirm somewhat similiar behaviour with my gnome terminal.
