[Bug 94965] Re: [nvidia-glx] Unable to write xorg.conf file for DELL Laptop - 'Seiko' display device

2007-05-09 Thread quanta
thanks for the new driver, seems to work. i can save the xorg.conf now.
but strange is: every time i alter the settings to "seperate X screen"
and restart the X server, it won't let me log in, stating that my
username and/or password are wrong (lets me log on the console as normal
though). after i copied back the xorg.conf and restart the X server,
everythings turns normal again. maybe i should post this somewhere else
but thats what i got after updating the nvidia-glx-new driver and set
the displays to "seperate X screen". any idea/hint for me?

Solved the problem installing nvidia-glx-new driver, version 1.0-9775.
The package nvidia-glx has driver version 1.0-9631. Maybe this is a bug
for the old driver.

[Bug 94965] Re: [nvidia-glx] Unable to write xorg.conf file for DELL Laptop - 'Seiko' display device

2007-04-27 Thread quanta
Same problem here with the same chip (Quadro FX 350M on Dell M65) with
Feisty.

I activated the binary drivers with the restricted manager, though it
doen't seem to make a difference scince i encountered this problem
*after* i activated them (just hooked up the second screen).

Thanks for helping us out :)

Thank you for your bug report.

Paul:
The recommended way in Feisty and above of activating the nvidia binary drivers
is by using restricted-manager. Does this get any further?
