It's not a bug in gtk, as this icon is supposed to be used for dragging multiple objects with the cursor only, hence the name gtk-dnd-multiple.png and it only need to exist in 32x32. [Bug 98980] Re: dist-ugrade change swap vol id?
why did you use qparted if it was only an upgrade? apt-get dist-upgrade should not touch your hard disks.I don't see a bug here. the average user won't need a disk paritioner after installation. I think it is ok, if it has to be installed separately. there is a powerful infrastructure that ensures the success of the upgrade. so please use update-manager instead of a "dump" apt-get dist- upgrade. the uuid is used to detect the correct partition after adding, remvoing or swapping hard disks. we have got graphical alternatives to apt-get to install applications: add/remove applications or synaptic. ** Changed in: udev (Ubuntu) Status: Unconfirmed => Rejected -- dist-ugrade change swap vol id? https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/98980 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 102468] Re: restricted-manager shows all unused OSS modules as "needs computer restart"
Thanks for the additional information, I have everything I need now. The best solution would of course be to change the OSS modules to ship proper modaliases, so that they don't appear in the first place, but we cannot have that easily. Some loud thinking/taking notes: Currently, state 'needs computer restart' is displayed if 'enabled' != 'loaded', which is bad because modules are enabled by default (this should really be 'allowed'), but not loaded for hardware which was not detected, i. e. for modules with overly generous modaliases. So let's change the rules like that: - initially, state is never 'needs restart'. for enabled and not loaded -> 'not used' - enabling a module modprobes it; success -> 'in use', failure -> 'needs restart' (this should work fine with the X.org drivers since they fail to modprobe if a free X driver is configured) - disabling a module -> needs restart (manual module unloading can have bad consequences) ** Changed in: restricted-manager (Ubuntu) Status: Needs Info => Confirmed -- restricted-manager shows all unused OSS modules as "needs computer restart" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/102468 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Apport already supports bug patterns, but they have to be created manually by the developers: https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu- devel/2006-October/021502.html Malone already searches for similar bug titles and proposes them. [Bug 83045] Re: Some New Users have a hard time switching to Ubuntu
This bug report has now been rewritten to a very different proposal, that of bifurcating Ubuntu's interface based on whether users self- identify as "beginners" or "experienced". That is no longer to do with the Ubuntu documentation. It is also an idea that has repeatedly been shown not to work. It was tried during Windows 95 development and failed[1], it was tried during Microsoft Office 2007 development and failed[2], and it was even tried in early versions of Gnome and failed[3]. It fails because it asks people a question they have no interest in answering, because people overestimate themselves, because people are often beginners in some parts of the system while being experts in others, and because if you need *just that one thing* that happens to be in the "expert" mode you have to change the entire interface to get to it.
