[Bug 187954] Re: xchat-gnome crashed with signal 5 in gtk_widget_set_sensitive()

2008-02-01 Thread Pedro Villavicencio
The bug is still there, if you enable the G_DEBUG it will appear again,
GNOME development release enable this variable and Ubuntu disable it
with a patch on the gnome-session which wasn't applied to
2.21.90-0ubuntu1, 2.21.90-0ubuntu2 has the patch and it shouldn't crash
again (unless you enable the variable again of course). thanks.

[Bug 124896] Re: spe 0.8.2a+repack-1 fails with python-wxgtk2.8

2008-02-01 Thread Luca Falavigna
On Feisty, I installed libwxgtk2.8-0, python-wxgtk2.8 and libwxbase2.8-0
(version 2.8.1.1-0ubuntu4).
python-wxversion and wx-common both are to version 2.6.3.2.1.5ubuntu6.

It seems this issue is triggered with {python-wxversion,wx-common} =
2.8 only.

[Bug 164392] Re: Freeze on applications for a few seconds

2008-02-01 Thread esox
Hello

On my side the problem vanished. Can't tell you why ! What I can do is
that I changed my tsst corp dvd writer to a LG. But I don't think it is
the reason, because this hardware change was not synchronized with the
problem solution. The only think I did is accepting all the updates from
ubuntu...

[Bug 188008] [NEW] aptitude shows 1 packages upgraded

2008-02-01 Thread Lorenzo Taylor
Public bug reported:

I just updated my Ubuntu Hardy system via aptitude. Since I had just
updated last night, only 1 package was to be upgraded. However, aptitude
shows:

1 packages upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.

This should say:

1 package upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.

Perhaps a piece of conditional code that prints an s on the end of
package if and only if the number of upgraded packages is not equal to 1
could solve this minor issue although this would also have to take into
account non-English languages as well.

[Bug 188055] [NEW] apt-listchanges stalls Adept silently

2008-02-01 Thread Lorenzo J. Lucchini
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: adept

Having the package apt-listchanges installed causes, by default, apt-
get and other APT front-ends (including Adept) to ask for confirmation
before applying the updates, after the changelog has been shown to the
user.

In Adept's updater, however, this question is presented just like it is
in apt-get: by means of a [Y/n] question in the console. The console,
in Adept, isn't visible unless one clicks on Show details, so the
user's perception is that Adept has locked up.

A work-around might be to watch the console for the text [Y/n]? (or
[y/N]?, and all localized versions of it...) and present a dialog box
when a line in the output matches it.

** Description changed:

There is a new version of Qtiplot in Debian and I would like to see it

this already (bug 183995), but Qtiplot depends on liborigin-dev (=

[Bug 188019] [NEW] new package, geda-xgsch2pcb available in debian

2008-02-01 Thread Peter Clifton
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: geda

http://packages.debian.org/unstable/main/geda-xgsch2pcb

``xgsch2pcb`` provides an intuitive, user-friendly graphical interface
to the ``gsch2pcb`` command-line tool, part of the gEDA suite, which is
used to generate and update a PCB layout. It works with schematics
created by ``gschem``, part of the gEDA suite, and layouts created by
``pcb``, a PCB layout system commonly used with gEDA.

Can we sync this package into Ubuntu?

I'd recommend having the geda meta-package pull in geda-xgsch2pcb like
the rest of the suite. This isn't the case yet in Debian, since the
other geda-* packages haven't been updated since the 1.4.0 gEDA release.

[Bug 188021] [NEW] Install Issues.

2008-02-01 Thread Todd
Public bug reported:

OK, I have been trying to take a look at this Ubuntu Linux which
everyone has been touting to me is supposed to be a Linux Distribution
Equivalent of Jesus. But the thing won't install. I checked out the net
for workaround there were quite a few Booting Parallels saying it is
Solaris (Which it hangs trying to install cups) , the other booting
parallels removing the splash option and changing the x config file for
Option “LVDSBiosNativeMode” “false” in that case X opened but the screen
was garbled.

At this point I don't want any workaround I am sick of searching google
for odd hacks to get it to work. You guys are touting this is as the
best Linux distribution so naturally I am very disturbed that it will
not install as easily as all the other Linux Distributions...(INCLUDING
SLACKWARE 2)

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. Unfortunately we can't fix it, because your description didn't include
enough information. You may find it helpful to read How to report bugs
effectively http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be
grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.
We have instructions on debugging some types of problems.
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures
At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

[Bug 149490] Re: X crashes on suspend (945GM)

2008-02-01 Thread mabovo
I changed usplash from Ubuntu to Xubuntu logo and X went out of control but
after a while it recovered displayng correctly the Xubuntu logo on startup.
Sometimes X freezes and I have to press the power button and noticed that
desktop effects was automatically disabled to preserve the environment. Also I
realized when pressing alt+tab moving from windows the top windows bar with
close, minimize and maximize functions disappeared.

[Bug 175394] Re: Wish: Indicate source of each upgrade

2008-02-01 Thread era
Unless you have fixed it in Hardy and nobody thought to report that
here, it's still a problem, yes. Do you have reason to believe that it
is fixed? Do you need repro steps?

1. Observe orange icon on Gnome top toolbar
2. Click on it to open the update manager

Result:
Wonder which updates are gutsy-security, which are gutsy-proposed, and which
are gutsy-backports

Desired result:
A way to find out so you don't have to wonder

[Bug 78282] Re: vnc4server does not start Desktop environment after security update

2008-02-01 Thread Soltész András
@pcr
XDMCP is enabled and GDM works well with XMing (windows based X server). I get
a working desktop when I login using Xming from a windows machine.
When I try to connect with UltraVNC or TightVNCViewer from the windows machine,
I get only the grey screen with the X cursor.

This is why I think the problem may be on the side of vnc4server and not
with GDM (although it is possible that GDM fails for some reason when
working with vnc4server).

Subject: [Bug 108392] Re: No sound on Compaq V3000 laptop on feisty

This issue has been solved in the new alsa drivers (10.0.15) it is
already fixed in hardy, and should be easy to fix in feisty and gutsy by
merging the alsa 10.0.15 drivers and tools in to the gutsy and feisty
repo's. -- No sound on Compaq V3000 laptop on feisty

[Bug 188028] [NEW] [needs packaging] network-manager on gutsy

2008-02-01 Thread Gabriele Monti
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: network-manager

Few days ago in the 0.6.5 stable branch of network manager a very
important feature has been added: support for 802.1x authentication on
wired networks. I successfully packaged it by simply using the debian
dir from -0ubuntu16 version since there are no major changes. It would
be nice to have it updated for gutsy.
