[Bug 344310] [NEW] Many islands, atolls etc are mislabelled
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: ubiquity Some islands and island groups, such as Fiji, the Maldives, Mauritius, and Niue, are commonly referred to only by a single word. Many are not, though, but Ubiquity refers to them as if they are; it omits the essential Island, Islands, Archipelago etc. Several island names are also missing diacritics or use out-of-date spelling. In particular: * Lindeman should be either Lindeman Island or Lindeman Islands http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lindeman_Island * Chagos should be Chagos Archipelago http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chagos_Archipelago * Lord Howe should be Lord Howe Island http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lord_Howe_Island * Christmas should be Christmas Island http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christmas_Island * Cocos should be Cocos Islands http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cocos_(Keeling)_Islands * Comoro should be either Comoro Islands http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comoro_Islands or Comoros http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comoros * Kerguelen should be Kerguelen Islands http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kerguelen_Islands * Mahe should be Mahé http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mah%C3%A9,_Seychelles * Reunion should be Réunion http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R%C3%A9union * Canary should be Canary Islands http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canary_Islands * Faroe should be either Faroe Islands or Faroes http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faroe_Islands * St Helena should be Saint Helena http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint_Helena * Chatham should be Chatham Islands http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chatham_Islands * Easter should be Easter Island http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Easter_Island * Enderbury should be Enderbury Island http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enderbury_Island * Galapagos should be Galápagos Islands http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gal%C3%A1pagos_Islands * Gambier should be Gambier Islands http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gambier_Islands * Johnston should be either Johnston Atoll or Johnston Island http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johnston_Atoll * Marquesas should be Marquesas Islands http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marquesas_Islands * Norfolk should be Norfolk Island http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norfolk_Island * Pitcairn should be Pitcairn Island http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pitcairn_Islands * Ponape should be Pohnpei http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pohnpei * Truk should be Chuuk http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Truk * Wake should be Wake Island http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wake_Island * Wallis should be either Wallis Island or Wallis and Futuna http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wallis_and_Futuna There are probably similar problems in the America region, but I have not checked that yet. Public bug reported: am running a liveCD of jaunty alpha 6. after issuing a suspend, my screen goes blank, but power still is ON. it doesn't go to suspended mode until i press Enter twice (as indicated by the slowly blinking power LED). After a while, the LED for capslock and Numlock responds to capslock presses and numlock presses. But i can't even go to a terminal (CTRL+ALT+F1) or won't even respond to CTRL+ALT+DEL or CTRL+ALT+Backspace. But pressing the power button seems to turn off Ubuntu, and ejects the CD. [Bug 339100] Re: jaunty upgrade fails when libboost-python-dev is installed
I ran into a similar problem while doing an ordinary system update (Jaunty development branch): during the update some problems were reported concerning python, and on reboot the system was almost unusable; the update had apparently been aborted due to python not being available, so the window manager wouldn't start, among other things. When I had reconfigured X manually, Gnome would just hang. The worst thing: even dpgk --configure -a wouldn't work, running into an infinite loop. Only by removing package libboost-python1.35-dev 1.35.0-8ubuntu4 1.35.0-8ubuntu4 was I able to fix the mess. I'm absolutely chocked by the fact that a single dependency problem in a fairly unimportant module can have such dire consequences. What could I have done had I been less experienced with the command line - I think I would have had to reinstall from scratch. I'm attaching the log from the failed install and the recovery. ** Attachment added: dpgk.faillog http://launchpadlibrarian.net/24004428/dpgk.faillog -- jaunty upgrade fails when libboost-python-dev is installed https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/339100 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

The +9 time zone should remain highlighted, and Tokyo should be selected. What actually happens: Nothing. (Using the latitude of A or B, rather than the latitude of the currently selected city, avoids any situation where Left followed by Right (or vice versa) does not return you to the city you came from.) * The Up or Down key should select the next northern or southern city respectively in the highlighted time zone. [Bug 310760] Re: Built-in microphone on Lenovo USB webcam doesn't work when hald is running
Just for anyone else tracking this issue, I had Etienne test the following: 1) sudo apt-get install linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.24-23-generic 2) create a file /etc/hal/fdi/policy/ignore-17ef7802.fdi to look like: deviceinfo version=0.2 device match key=usb_device.vendor_id int=6127 match key=usb_device.product_id int=18434 merge key=info.ignore type=booltrue/merge /match /match /device /deviceinfo 3) reboot and test linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.24-23-generic provides alsa-driver-1.0.16 and the .fdi file prevents hal from probing the device. Etienne provided the following feedback: It works perfectly well. At least, in the sense that we can get both the mic and the webcam working. Of course, the webcam do not work in application that relies on HAL (ie, Cheese), but in those that use ALSA/V4L directly (such as VLC), it work just fine indeed. -- Built-in microphone on Lenovo USB webcam doesn't work when hald is running https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/310760 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

whatever login manager and session script you use doesn't start a ck session and that's what creates your issue, using ck-launch-session and running your command then should work -- cannot mount USB thumb drive as normal user https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/342940 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
