[Bug 351215] Re: failsafe mode needs to not suggest reconfiguration if graphics hardware in inconsistent state
The failsafe mode did allow me to analyse the error and see the log files. So presumably, we know that the HW is in a bad state as shown by the Xorg.0.log from that particular bug: (WW) intel(0): PRB0_CTL (0x0001f001) indicates ring buffer enabled (WW) intel(0): PRB0_HEAD (0x7341d4dc) and PRB0_TAIL (0x0001d638) indicate ring buffer not flushed (WW) intel(0): Existing errors found in hardware state. Error in I830WaitLpRing(), timeout for 2 seconds What was interesting to me is the fact that the graphics HW was still capable of running is some low-res mode (framebuffer?). So perhaps it wasn't completely unrecoverable after all? -- failsafe mode needs to not suggest reconfiguration if graphics hardware in inconsistent state https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/351215 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

If we know what it is, I could try to concentrate on reproducing my actions to stress that part of the HW. I can only comment on the priority issue, while it looks like the bug is well on its way to getting fixed. But it is a persisting issue that I18N problems are still being classified as Low or even Wishlist priority, while these problems essentially break parts of Ubuntu for most of the world's people. I do think the priority should be High in most cases of visible default install I18N problems like this. These are the problems that get mentioned separately in eg. magazines doing a review of Ubuntu. Another point of view is noting that the number 2. point at Ubuntu philosophy (http://www.ubuntu.com/community/ubuntustory/philosophy) should not be something of a "Low" or "Wishlist" priority. -- [jaunty] The "Shut Down", "Restart" and "Log Out" buttons do not appear translatable https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/345344 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Reproducing this problem is very simple: 1. Seed some active torrents without limiting your upload rate. 2. Code: tc qdisc add dev eth1 root handle 1: tbf rate 675kbit latency 50ms burst 1540 where eth1 is the connected to the internet with a routable IP address on a connection that is limited to greater than 675 kbps by the ISP. 3. Watch your torrent upload speed drop to 10 KiB/s or less within seconds. 4. Code: sudo tc qdisc del dev eth1 root 2> /dev/null > /dev/null 5. Watch your upload speed return to normal within seconds. Hi, thanks for taking the time to report this. To request a backport a bug needs to be raised against the hardy-backports product, not the ubuntu product: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuBackports#request-new-packages I'm closing this bug as it doesn't affect the latest version of Ubuntu and the bug is not severe enough to warrant changing the official Hardy package. I would have done this sync request after Jaunty release but I'm fine with you doing it now. The main reason why I uploaded -2ubuntu1 was to have a functional wide-dhcpv6 20080615 in Jaunty with as little differences as possible between the previous Ubuntu version and what I had already have uploaded to Debian since we were already way past DebianImportFreeze and this wasn't suitable for a freeze exception. This happens because the DBus call to the Policykit agent uses the default DBus timeout (10 seconds I think). I can't confirm the other behaviour you describe though. [Bug 351427] [NEW] Add "use max resolution checkbox+functionality" to gnome-display-properties
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-control-center Often people have connected two displays with their laptop where the second, external one is not always connected and has another aspect ratio than the internal. [Bug 350217] Re: Upgrade (+FGLRX?) causes KDE login to fail
OK, after talking with a few other people having this problem we managed to figure this out. It is *not* FGLRX related, it's that somewhere along the line a couple of days ago, automatic updates removed kdebase- workspace-bin (and possibly some other needed files)! This happened on both 32bit, 64bit, Intel and AMD architectures. Remedy is as simple as sudo apt-get install kdebase-userspace-bin in a console. If we could still rename this bug to something that would be recognised by someone searching for an answer to this problem that would be great, as it's not just fglrx users affected. There are two solutions, imo: 1. fix dependencies between "libav*-dev" and "libav*-unstripped-52" somehow; 2. add new packages: "libav*-unstripped-52-dev". Note: "libav*-dev" required when building something from sources. For example: http://kradio.sourceforge.net/ -- libxxx-unstripped should also Provide libxxx https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/312898 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 348704] Re: /var/lib/python-support/python2.6/dbus/mainloop/qt.so missing after upgrade
I just tried a test upgrade with a minimal environment. Here this seem to work, after the upgrade the mentioned file: /var/lib/python-support/python2.6/dbus/mainloop/qt.so is there. This was from the normal intrepid version, not the backport one though. I'm trying this next. -- /var/lib/python-support/python2.6/dbus/mainloop/qt.so missing after upgrade https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/348704 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
