Re: [Bug 508546] Re: Rhythmbox not allowing 16-character lastfm password
OK, I've just tried all this again. First of all, I have reason to believe that this might be partly or even entirely a display issue (ie: to do with how the desktop UI is displayed) Secondly, and rather bizarrely, Rhythmbox seems to be refusing to create a logfile at all today, so no new logfile, I'm afraid. My first attempts to recreate this problem this morning were unsuccessful, as Rhythmbox simply failed to appear at all. Starting it normally from either the menu or an icon on my toolbar did not appear to work either. (Unfortunately, I didnt think back then to check the system monitor to see if it was actually running). I tried again. Same thing, but the display visibly flickered this time, to black, white then to my normal desktop, as if I had seen an open terminal window, a blank desktop window and then my usual desktop. I have encountered similar behaviour before, when trying to run EVE-Online via Wine on my old games PC (sadly now defunct). What had happened there was that some of the EVE graphics were being opened on a screen not being displayed to the user, apparently. I've also seen something of the sort when trying to run the netbook GUI on this nettop, which is why I gave up on it and went back to Xfce. I rebooted my PC (an Acer Aspire One nettop) and tried again. Rhythmbox is now displaying normally. OK, so I turned the plug-in off. Curious, I opened the logfile - empty. Odd. So I closed Rhytmbox, deleted the logfile, and started Rhythmbox again as per your instructions - bear in mind that at this point the lastfm plugin is turned off. Rhythmbox started and displayed normally, so I turned the lastfm plugin on, I was given a window in which to enter my account details. This did NOT display the behavior I'd seen before when trying to set the account details using the 'Account Settings' button. So I typed in my password, and pressed return, then closed the window. The system claimed that my password was not set. Odd.. Then I tried the Account Settings button, but much the same happened. Then I tried opening a browser, navigating to lastfm, and logging in. LastFM did not recognise my password! I'd add that I am very careful about passwords, and whilst yes, people do make errors on passwords now and then, I know very well what my lastfm password is, I've used it many times. Next I went to the lastfm reset password window, and rest my password to what it should have been anyway (ie: the same as I've been putting into Rhythmbox, the same as my lastfm password was when I created the account). Then I tried again with Rhythmbox - this time it said it recognised my lastfm account, yaaay! However, it could not seem to connect to any music - I am a member of the Brass Goggles group, which Rhythmbox recognised, but it said it couldn;t connect when I clicked on it, or highlighted it and pressed the play button. At this point Rhythmbox crashed and a logfile - again, empty - appeared. So I started up Rhythmbox again (from an icon) - and finally, I'm able to play music from Lastfm. In summary, there's some kind of display weirdness going on in this version of Ubuntu on this nettop, it looks as if my lastfm password may have suffered corruption at lastfm at some point, hence why even when I could get it into Rhythmbox it failed to work at first, and it's rather odd that once I was able to 'see' lastfm in Rhythmbox that it wouldnt play anything, claiming there was no content to play until Rhytmbox crashed, and I'd restarted it. I am now happily listening to music from lastfm though! Finally, I;d just like to express my appreciation for the patience of those programmers who've contacted me, and also for their efforts in working to make Linux better for us all. I don;t know if you get many thank-you's, but this Linux user, for one, very much appreciates what folk like you do for her! -- Rhythmbox not allowing 16-character lastfm password https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/508546 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 508546] Re: Rhythmbox not allowing 16-character lastfm password
Further to previous email, I can confirm that although not visible on the desktop (I have two - I checked both of them), Rhythmbox was still showing as running by the system monitor. Also, having ended the process from the system monitor, I tried starting Rhythmbox again. To cut a long story short, the first time Rhythmbox starts, it is not visible on the desktop, it's only if I try starting it again that Rhythmbox becomes visible (and thus usable. and still an empty logfile. What do you expect gnome-session to do about this in this case then? [Bug 516412] Re: Pressing Enter causes the system to freeze
Uninstalling plymouth made the bug disappear. Two related bugs disappeared as well: 1) I'm no longer experiencing graphical corruption (flickering pixels) along the top edge of the screen. 2) Previously, when GDM came up on my Nvidia Twinview setup (two monitors), only the primary screen would work, whereas the secondary monitor just gave me an out of range message. The workaround was a quick switch to a TTY and back again. With Plymouth gone, both screens now work immediately. Should I file separate bugs? [Bug 504361] Re: OpenOffice, export pdf/A-1a cannot be read by acrobat 9
In the last few months, I've sent out a few cover letters for a job application using OO.o and then exporting to PDF, assuming this would be readable on ANY system. On two occasions I've had an (embarrassing) situation that I had to resend the letter using plain text or (gulp!) MS office .doc format. [Bug 517468] [NEW] Package is not installable
Public bug reported: This package must depend on the latest version of the linux kernel for ec2. At the moment it should depends on linux-image-2.6.31-304-ec2 2.6.31-304.10. But it depends on linux-image-2.6.31-303-ec2 which doesn't even exists. I think that we have a problem here. [Bug 513690] Re: Xerox WorkCentre 7245 (7228) prints only first page
First, your printer is not only a PostScript printer but also a PDF printer, therefore it prints foo-in.ps unfiltered, which is a PDF file. Second, if you print unfiltered with lp -o raw ... answers of the printer get somewhere buried in the error_log, if you send files to the printer with nc, you see the answers of the printer in your terminal window. According to the printer's answer it seems that the Xerox printer does not like the flushfile command (in the PostScript code inserted by foomatic-rip for page logging), whereas my HP printer and also gv or evince (both backed by Ghostscript) have no problems with this command. This makes the Xerox printer abort the job on the first flushfile command which is exactly when the first page is completed. Please do the following: Edit foo-out.ps, preceedinmg the line which contains flushfile with a % character. This deactivates this line. Send the resulting file to printer unfiltered. Does the file print completely now? ** Changed in: foomatic-filters (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Triaged -- Xerox WorkCentre 7245 (7228) prints only first page https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/513690 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
