[Bug 366728] Re: LD_LIBRARY_PATH not loading from .profile nor /etc/environment
Digging around a bit I wonder if this is the issue: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/380360 So when you login, .profile is sourced. Then everything is parented to ssh-agent (I assume to inherit the environment variables that it sets) but as that is setuid, LD_LIBRARY_PATH is reset for security reasons. However the usecase for wanting a per-user (i.e. not system wide) local prefix for development libraries is pretty valid. I don't want other users on the machine to be picking up my libraries when they run stuff, but I do want the setting to be session wide so it is picked up by applications I load from the command line. -- LD_LIBRARY_PATH not loading from .profile nor /etc/environment https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/366728 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 517701] [NEW] ntpd apparmor rule does not allow reading dhcp based config
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: ntp Configuration file is located in /var/lib/ntp/ntp.conf.dhcp but /etc/apparmor.d/usr.sbin.ntpd does not allow reading it, it does allow reading /etc/ntp.conf.dhcp though, so it is unclear if file is generated in wrong location or if apparmor should allow reading this location, my guess is apparmor should be updated. [Bug 473000] Re: AD1984a enters power save and never wakes up
I am experiencing the same effects on a server system Ubuntu Karmic with the pre-release ( To fix USB TTY issues ) 2.6.31-18-55 I have a MythTV server system that I finally tracked back to the power save (I believe). I can watch and use recordings during testing but those things set to record late at night were recording without sound. I have used 2 different sound cards now. hda_intel ( I also applied both powersave options in /etc/modprobe.d /alsa-base.conf ) I cannot comment out the lines or I will get rearranged sound cards, I have M-Audio 7.1, Divco HDTV gold 5,Internal HDA_Intel. I gave up on the internal HDA_Intel since the options had no effect. I switched to the M-Audio ( ICE7124 ) and I an seeing the same issue. This leads me to believe it is a core ALSA power save problem ( I still need to try the power save options on the ICE1724 ) I have downloaded and installed the latest ALSA Sources with no improvement 1.22 I believe. Roman found that the fields only appear to save when focus is removed from the input field. Maybe the USB cable is bad? As a consequence the system will fail to suspend and recognize USB mass storage devices, which is a main problem. Further investigation shows it only happens when the uvcvideo module is loaded. System works well if uvcvideo is not loaded, either by disabling the webcam before rebooting (FN+F6) or by blacklisting the uvcvideo module in /etc/modconf.d/. If I blacklist uvcvideo and load it manually after boot (modprobe) the same thing happens: most of the time I get cannot reset port error and USB storage and suspend is non-functional from then on. In very rare occasions (1 in 10 or less) the system loads uvcvideo and does not give cannot reset port errors and all suspend, USB storage and webcam are functional. This is a regression since it does not happen with ubuntu 9.04: I have used 9.04 for months before and it also works well if I boot with 9.04-netbook-remix usb image. Considering that the MSI Wind and its several clones are quite popular and that this bug will make suspend and USB unfunctional, it may have a quite big impact on ubuntu users, specially the netbook- remix friends.
