[Bug 691813] [NEW] "precision as shown" causes incorrect arithmetic
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: openoffice.org-calc When the "Precision as shown" option is enabled in Calc, formulas performing arithmetic using cell references produce incorrect results. Steps to reproduce: 1. Under Tools->Options->OpenOffice.org Calc->Calculate, check the "Precision as shown" option. 2. In cell A1, enter the number 3. 3. In cell A2, enter the number 2. 4. In cell A3, enter the formula =A1+A2. Observe that the result is 0 instead of 5. Subtraction, multiplication, and division also produce incorrect results. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: unity To reproduce: * Start a session (that's the only way I've found to reliably make a window use the top panel only) * Open a pinned program (not maximize) * Maximize it (window button or double click on the title bar) => Window buttons and title should now be in the top panel * Minimize the window to the launcher bar using the window button => The top panel now shows "Untitled window" * Restore the window by clicking on the launcher icon in the launcher bar * Restore/unmaximize the window by clicking on the window button in the top panel => The window restores without a window border. There's a bug report on the upstream tracker that is *possibly* the same bug as this: http://sourceware.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=12271 I've inquired about the details. [Bug 691819] [NEW] ntpd stopped working when time server disappeared

[Bug 614316] Re: VT1708/A (hp2133) output crackling
Did some more testing. alsa 1.0.23 works great. With arecord and aplay no problems at all. This was a pulse-audio problem. Solved this by modifying /etc/pulse/daemon.conf. Assume problem was caused by latency in this kind of low end system. Looks like this a very common problem in pulse-audio often called "stuttering". Thanks again for alsa 1.0.23. It is a great piece of software. The problem is now ubuntu backport policy. Could you please backport alsa 1.0.23 to Lucid. [Bug 355846] Re: audacity stops recording after about a second when using software play-through
I posted to the Audacity forum and got some interesting feedback: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=14014&sid=f29a500ddd4aee4cad4084becaa2fb6e&start=10 Apparently, the problem is partially fixed on the trunk, i.e., the xrun- recovery code has been improved so that recording will not stop. However, the underlying latency problem has not been fixed, so there is a risk of defects in the recorded audio. In the thread, I learnt how to configure loopback using the PulseAudio tools. User-interface-wise that was not a pleasant experience, but now I know that it is possible. However, unless Ubuntu makes an effort to make PulseAudio easier to configure, software playthrough in Audacity is a necessity. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/355846 Title: audacity stops recording after about a second when using software play-through -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 691845] [NEW] feh --bg-scale unable to open stored file path
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: feh Source: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/feh Version:1.3.4.dfsg.1-3 Kernel: 2.6.35-22-generic #35~lucid1-Ubuntu SMP Tue Nov 23 21:46:02 UTC 2010 Kubuntu 10.04 KDE 4.4.5 AMD64 Okay, I'm using feh to place my plasma desktop image onto the X root desktop in order to enable fake transparency in Gkrellm on KDE. This is the input: feh --bg-scale "`grep 'wallpaper=' ~/.kde/share/config/plasma-desktop-appletsrc | tail --bytes=+11`" Feh loads the image onto the X root desktop and places the actual path of the image in .fehbg. This script is placed into .xsessionrc so that the image stored in .fehbg will be loaded at each log-on: `cat $HOME/.fehbg` After the initial loading of the image (next login), Feh is unable to load the image and exits with an error of no such file. The problem lies in the parsing of the file path in .fehbg. It is stored like this: feh --bg-scale '/home/laysan/Pictures/shadows_1280.jpg_cropped.png' The single quotes are read as part of the file path, so the program cannot find the image file. To make it work I must physically remove the two single quotes from the path in .fehbg and change the permissions to root so that feh cannot overwrite with a fresh file path. The work- around is fine, but clumsy and unfriendly. If I want to change my desktop I have to reverse the process, then do it again with the new image. ** Affects: feh (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/691845 Title: feh --bg-scale unable to open stored file path -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 691847] [NEW] No session menu in gnome-panel (power button not showing)
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-panel Some times when I log into gnome the power button icon is not showing on the upper right of my screen. It seems instead that my username is truncated and shown twice, see screenshot. I also had the same problem with the amd64-release of Ubuntu 10.10, so I resintalled with the recommended desktop release (i386) just to be sure. Happens in both environments. In order to logout I use the following command in gnome-terminal: gnome-session-save --logout It is also possible fire an acpi-signal with the real power button, which will bring up a dialog, however this dialog does not have all the options available on the session menu: guest session, lock screen and any operations regarding changing to another user, are all missing. Have also experienced the same problem with another user on the system. Could possibly be related to usernames longer than 8 characters? [Bug 691705] Re: Rhythmbox controls invalid when playing .asx stream
When I tried to reproduce this error I've found that the control works in a correct way. You said: "If I double-click the item in the list I get a green arrowhead in the list, but the play/pause control is still a green triangle saying play." But it's background turns gray indicating that is actually playing. And in fact, if you have a slow connection the radio won't start inmediatly. But you can see at the bottom of the windows a buffer filling up. You say "You can't restart with the play/pause control, you have to reselect from the list.". I was able to restart the radio without reselecting it. Only problem is, again, the time it takes to fill up the buffer. Can you check is not a connectivity problem? ** Changed in: gstreamer0.10 (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/691705 Title: Rhythmbox controls invalid when playing .asx stream -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 688986] Re: --invisible/--autostart/--autoclose do not appear to be working
I would like to know the cause myself, but again - just to be sure - did you call soundkonverter with the right --profile argument? It's not '--medium' but 'Medium' - just the way it's displayed in the GUI. Because calling soundkonverter with the wrong profile makes it quit instantly here, too. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/688986 Title: --invisible/--autostart/--autoclose do not appear to be working -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 568611] Re: Screen brightness control fails on Dell Studio 1558
Same problem here. After updating to the latest version, I cannot adjust the brightness with the function keys. I can use however the Power Manager Brightness Applet, or overwrite the value in /sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/backlight and thus I can control the brightness. I also checked the kernel parameters and they are still the same as before. The output from $ ls /sys/class/backlight/ is: intel_backlight Thanks for all the help! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/568611 Title: Screen brightness control fails on Dell Studio 1558 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 146298] Re: [i965] intel gm965 compiz dual head issues
Thank you for bringing this bug to our attention. However, a paper cut should be a small usability issue, in the default Ubuntu install, that affects many people and is quick and easy to fix. [Bug 637020] Re: ubuntu-iso crashed with isoinfo in extract()
bdrung: bug 637020 looks pretty straightforward; ubuntu-iso is a trivial wrapper around isoinfo and doesn't attempt to parse any command line options Launchpad bug 637020 in ubuntu-dev-tools (Ubuntu) "ubuntu-iso crashed with isoinfo in extract()" [Undecided,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/637020 bdrung bdmurray it should just exit nonzero rather than crash a --help option could be added, but it would be minimal (there is already a man page which explains the lack of options) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/637020 Title: ubuntu-iso crashed with isoinfo in extract() -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 691535] Re: dash printf: "0" padding broken
Regarding the POSIX standard: For d , i , o , u , x , X , a , A , e , E , f , F , g , and G conversion specifiers, leading zeros (following any indication of sign or base) are used to pad to the field width rather than performing space padding, except when converting an infinity or NaN. If the '0' and '-' flags both appear, the '0' flag is ignored. For d , i , o , u , x , and X conversion specifiers, if a precision is specified, the '0' flag shall be ignored. If the '0' and flags both appear, the grouping characters are inserted before zero padding. For other conversions, the behavior is undefined. http://pubs.opengroup.org/onlinepubs/9699919799/functions/fprintf.html# So the %s case is undefined and not covered by the standard. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/691535 Title: dash printf: "0" padding broken -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
