[Bug 993585] Re: Dropping WLAN connection every 7-10 minutes

2012-05-06 Thread JPedro
Okay, I guess this is the wrong place to get support, but for about 12-18 hours
now it has been working without any problems.
Its still the same kernel, but the kern.log says its still deauthenticate and
then authenticate again. But without me noticing.

Linux jpt-ThinkPad-SL410 3.4.0-030400rc5-generic #201205011817 SMP Tue
May 1 22:18:19 UTC 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

So I assume that its not a kernel that has been updated, is there anyway
to see which .deb packages has gotten updated after the kernel update,
so that we might narrow down what actually fixed it *knock on wood*

[Bug 988485] Re: Abiword is slow to update the document when typing

2012-05-06 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
** Description changed:

When I write any text in Abiword, there is a slight lag before updating
  on my screen.

  Steps to reproduce:
  1. Launch Abiword
  2. Press any keys in rapid succession, for example 123, and the text 123
should appear without any lag, and at the time every single key is released.

  What happened instead:
  1. 123 appear on screen, but with a slight lag. Instead of printing 1 then 2
then 3 at the pace I release the keys, the program lags for a split second and
then print 123 as if it was in one stroke. It feels like the lag is somewhere
around .5 seconds.

Using gedit, libreoffice or googleoffice (or any other program) I get
  the expected result.

I noticed that the problem is less when not having the window maximized.
  For example:

When pressing and holding the arrow key in maximized mode, the marker
disappear until I release it, having traveled down the line without showing me
how the marker jumps over the letters.
When doing the same thing i a smaller sized window, the marker is visible the
entire time, showing me how it jumps over the letters.

This suggests that the problem might in some way be related to Unity.

[Bug 994533] Re: cannot install ia32-libs on Ubuntu 12.04 x86_64

2012-05-06 Thread Steve Langasek
But how was this inconsistancy possible?
Any idea, what I did wrong?

I don't think this is due to anything you did wrong; most likely, there
was simply a single-bit memory or disk error that broke the checksum of
your conffile.

Could I found this solution by myself?

Not easily, and for that I reassign the bug to dpkg rather than just
closing it outright. However, this is a low priority issue since it's
unlikely to affect many people who don't have failing hardware.

[Bug 982303] Re: msyql configuration via dbconfig-common not picked up by initctl automatically during installation

2012-05-06 Thread Miguel Gonzalez
Yes, it succeeded when I performed just a rename of the usr.sbin.mysqld
under /etc/apparmor.d

So my guess is that something is broken under the mysqld file in
apparmor that needs to be fixed.

I didn't file any bug. By the way, this is in a new fresh install of
precise.

[Bug 995617] [NEW] OpenBVE crashes when launching 'Morden-Edgware via ChX' Northern Line route

Public bug reported:

Hi, the Northern Line route 'Morden-Edgware via ChX' crashes sometimes
when trying to select it as a route in openBVE. It leaves this error:

3) Select the Northern Line route above.

[Bug 889961] Re: Built in webcam on Sony Vaio doestn't work, kernel emits a stream of unable to enumerate USB device on port... errors

2012-05-06 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
** Description changed:

This problem has been present at least since Maverick (maybe earlier),
I'm reporting it only now because it started to annoy me.

The hardware: Sony Vaio VPCEB1M1E (for details see attached
  dmidecode.log and other files).

  The symptoms:

  1) The built in webcam on the laptop isn't detected, /dev/video0 isn't present
  2) The kernel constantly logs a stream of the following errors:

Nov 13 20:59:46 HOSTNAME kernel: [ 58.092603] usb 1-1.2: new high speed USB
device number 83 using ehci_hcd
  Nov 13 20:59:46 HOSTNAME kernel: [ 58.108761] hub 1-1:1.0: unable to
enumerate USB device on port 2
Nov 13 20:59:47 HOSTNAME kernel: [ 58.352608] usb 1-1.2: new high speed USB
device number 84 using ehci_hcd
  Nov 13 20:59:47 HOSTNAME kernel: [ 58.369093] hub 1-1:1.0: unable to
enumerate USB device on port 2
Nov 13 20:59:47 HOSTNAME kernel: [ 58.608501] usb 1-1.2: new high speed USB
device number 85 using ehci_hcd
  Nov 13 20:59:47 HOSTNAME kernel: [ 58.625139] hub 1-1:1.0: unable to
enumerate USB device on port 2

- I suspect that the webcam not working is related to the kernel errors, as
another Vaio user has the same set of problems on Arch Linux:
-
Note that, regardless of having a nearly identical error signature in the
kernel logs, this is probably a different problem than that one:
  http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=635573
- The fix for that bug (incorporated into kernel version 3.0.1) probably won't
help here as it's specific to nVidia hardware, which isn't present in my
situation.

[Bug 995623] [NEW] no verify sign in contestual menu

2012-05-06 Thread Token
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 12.04.
Installed the packet, restarted session, but there is no verify signature in
contestual menu after selecting a signature-file.
The command
seahorse-tool -v filesign
from terminal is good and you can add it with nautilus action configuration
tool, but i expect it should be inserted from seahorse-nautilus.

In Ubuntu 12.04 LTS with gnome-control-center 1:3.4.1-0ubuntu1 it is not
possible to select Japanese keyboard Sanwa which is supported by Xorg in
xkb-data 2.5-1ubuntu1. See grep -riI sanwa /usr/share/X11/xkb/ and

I have this problem, though after that update my laptop didn't boot at
all. It didn't boot with the previous kernel either. I managed to boot
recovery mode and figured out that downgrading from bcmwl-5.100.82.38
+bdcom-0ubuntu6.1 to bcmwl-5.100.82.38+bdcom-0ubuntu6 allowed to boot
normally.

[Bug 879895] Re: gnome-shell : skype screen sharing problem , windows disappear, panel disappears

2012-05-06 Thread Camille Acey
So, funny thing. I just sat down with two computers (my ubuntu 12.04 and
my husband's windows 7 netbook) and conducted a few screensharing skype
calls. For some reason the only way I can execute an action is if my
husband typed a short message to me in Skype. So for example I'd click
CTRL + TAB and nothing would happen. Then my husband would write ok in
the skype chat window and as soon as I received that message the
CTRL+TAB command would go through.

The best I can figure is that the only way my machine can refresh is
by receiving these outside pings. It doesn't matter what it is. Just as
long as it comes. So basically I can type a command into terminal and
press enter. I won't see the command and it won't execute until I tell
the person on the other side of the line to send me something in the
chat window. Then the command is executed and their screen refreshes.

If one does not make bugs this way, it is highly frowned upon, and it
is not likely the bug will be addressed quickly.

If programmers are able to fluently program in java, c and c++, then
they would easily know how to test a simple bug in a program they
themselves developed! It is clear what Stanley is trying to say, if you
create an object (e.g. word art, test, shapes etc.), go click on Custom
Animation in the sidebar, click Add, choose an effect from the list,
click OK, click '...' to go into effect options, pick a sound, click ok,
press F5 to run the show and find that custom animation sounds don't work.

[Bug 983025] Re: ath5k phy0: gain calibration timeout

2012-05-06 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Triaged Low due to easy workaround.

** Description changed:

  I sometimes lost the wifi-connection and I can't reconnect. Then I have
to unload the ath5k kernel-module and suspend my laptop. Then I resume
the session and load the ath5k. Then I can connect to the wifi-network.
But often this connection get lost after a short time.

I tested it with mainline kernel v3.4-rc3-precise.
  http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.4-rc3-precise/

No ath5k phy0: gain calibration timeout message with this kernel
  version.
+
+ WORKAROUND: I installed linux-backports-modules-cw-3.3-precise-
+ generic. No ath5k phy0: gain calibration timeout.

[Bug 995590]

2012-05-06 Thread Ubuntu Foundation's Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/995590/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 991179] Re: 7.0.24 computation error bug

2012-05-06 Thread LocutusOfBorg
Hi to all, unfortunately I cannot build the .27 from steffen git in
launchpad. Previously I have thought that was due to a partial commit
from Steffen, but now I see that this package builds with no errors at
all in my local machine, so there should be something wrong with
launchpad build system.

In the meanwhile I try to figure out what's wrong I should tell that the patch
is one of them:
MoreInformativeAppStartFailure.patch
client_types_buffer_size.patch
uninitialised_client_types.patch
MainDocumentConst.patch

now I'm building a package without the 2nd and 3rd one...

[Bug 971012] Re: Broken multi arch dependencies

2012-05-06 Thread Adre Neethling
Okay, so I had the same problem, but kind of fixed it.
Firstly, delete the .gstreamer-0.10 folder in your home drive.
Install Synaptic, then searched for gstreamer and just installed all the
plugins: good, bad, ugly variants as well.
This should do it.

If you still can't play your music in rhythmbox or banshee, just delete
library and import again.

[Bug 946677] Re: UMS dri support missing for r200

Thanks for mentioning that workaround, Carl. I've noticed it seems to
have allowed AIGLX to load properly but if I run glxgears the computer
(a Powerbook G4 15) hangs and I need to power off. Do you have working
GL support?

Thanks for the workaround! Having to look into Move/Resize before creating new
partitions is still strange, though.
I would expect the required unit numbers are available, at least in the
detailed properties of partitions.

[Bug 985882] Re: units shown are not equal to the units asked for creation

2012-05-06 Thread ceg
Use case was, not to copy but create two disks with same partiton sizes
(only some of them raid partition clones).

** Description changed:

Try to recreate or clone the OS partition on another harddrive of a
  different size as the original.

GParted shows only an impresize size of the existing partition such as
32.63GB, whereas to create the new partition the exact size in MiB is
  required.

Hidden in the Properties, gparted does tell the number of sectors in the
old partition, but that can't be directly used to create the new
  partition either. (V 0.7.0)

+ Use case is not to copy but create two disks with same partiton sizes

[Bug 995636] [NEW] Space, arrows and j/k stop working randomly

2012-05-06 Thread Tomi Pieviläinen
Public bug reported:

Sometimes all the other key commands to scroll a document apart from pg.
up/down stop working. Mouse wheel still works. This is unrelated to the
fullscreen bug, as entering fullscreen is not needed to trigger this,
and entering/exiting fs doesn't return the functionality. Nor does
opening any menus etc.

Hints appreciated how to debug this better, since there are no obvious
steps to reproduce this.

[Bug 995640] [NEW] Colour issue in Eclipse with Greybird

2012-05-06 Thread flg
Public bug reported:

Xubuntu : 12.04
shimmer-themes : 1.3.0-0ubuntu1
Eclipse-cdt : 8.0.2-1
Gtk theme: Greybird

All configurations are unmodified after fresh installation.

Some fonts are hardly or not visible.

First, in the editor-dropdown (CTRL+E in editor) : unselected elements
font is light grey, background is dark grey, it's really hard to read.
AFAICT there is no parameter in Eclipse configuration to change any of
these colours.

Second, in the quick outline (CTRL+L in editor) : the default font is
exactly the same as the default background. The colours can be adjusted
in Eclipse configuration.

Enclosed: screenshots showing the problems.

[Bug 995639] [NEW] libopenal1 not installed correctly No sound at all in ut2k4

2012-05-06 Thread Martin G Miller
Public bug reported:

I have just upgraded Ubuntu 11.10 to 12.04 64 bit. My sound works in
general, but not in one of my games, UT2K4. Upon examination, I
discovered libopenal1 is not correctly installed. If I look in synaptic
it says it is installed. I also tried reinstalling it.

The files that are supposed to be there are:
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libopenal.so.1
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libopenal.so.1.13.0
/usr/share/doc/libopenal1/changelog.Debian.gz
/usr/share/doc/libopenal1/copyright
/usr/share/doc/libopenal1/examples/alsoftrc.sample.gz

However, only the files in /usr/share/doc are actually installed.
The 2 files:
 /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libopenal.so.1
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libopenal.so.1.13.0

do not exist on my system.

I attempted to file a bug directly against libopenal1, the command:
ubuntu-bug libopenal1 returns an error that libopenal1 is not installed, even
though synaptic says it is.

Is there any way I can just get these 2 files so I can put them where
they belong?

[Bug 995486] Re: Fails to resume from suspend

2012-05-06 Thread Fabio Marconi
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which
is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper
developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . I have classified this
bug as a bug in linux.

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu-
bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this
functionality at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs.
