[Bug 1047059] Re: Packaging Issues into Ubuntu 12.04

2012-09-07 Thread Emilien Macchi
@stelford

Thx for repply.

1) Post-install, /var/log/cinder is owned by root:root. It must be
cinder:adm, (I said cinder:cinder, by bad).

2) Regarding /usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/volumes, I could see in
the log that cinder-volume tried to write inside, but did not have the
rights. I created /usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/volumes directory and
chown cinder:cinder it, and I did not have this error anymore.

My cinder.conf : http://paste.openstack.org/show/SebfzeLcKXGwaZE2squh/

I'm running : 2012.2+git201209051900~precise-0ubuntu1

Regards

[Bug 429844] Re: audio level between 0 and 20% not output

2012-09-07 Thread David Henningsson
Kevin, Christopher,

Many older STAC codecs have the oddity that when you set the hardware volume to
its lowest value, the result is muting instead of the expected -48 dB.
It looks like this oddity is being indicated correctly in the kernel driver,
but the information is not adhered to in higher layers (alsa-lib, pulseaudio).

As such, I doubt testing different kernel drivers will help, but if so,
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/UpgradingAlsa/DKMS is the best way of doing so as
it contains the latest upstream fixes for HDA codecs.
But it seems more likely to me that the problem is within alsa-lib or
pulseaudio.

2012-09-07 Thread Sebastian Benvenuti
reinodeespana = Weak (miss spelled)
reinodeespaña = Fair (spelled properly)
it's the Ñ, witch is NOT a special character in any es_ locale.

republiquefrancaise = Weak (miss spelled)
républiquefrançaise = Good (spelled properly)

the é and the ç add extra strength, thought it's how french people
write it.

Having in mind that the only access the password provides in a default
installation is with physical access to the machine, not by a random
internet bot or virus, how is that stronger when it's spelled correctly?
(according to the declared locale/country/keymap)

[Bug 996840] Re: Libvirt error when trying to mount ISCSI volumes

2012-09-07 Thread Koji
Has anyone confirmed Hendrik's workaround patch works with the latest
released version: 2012.1.3+stable-20120827-4d2a4afe-0ubuntu1?

I had been waiting for long for this bug to be fixed. However, another
Bug #1014769 is causing serious issues these days because users are
increasing day by day. So we decided to apply the latest patches to fix
the Bug #1014769. Which is fixed happily. But now we can't attach the
volume again...

I hope this bug will be fixed soon.

Unsure if what I'm seeing is the same as pitti or not; but sounds similar.
manually unset click to focus via compizsettings/general/focus
click the back button
go forward to the focus page; and 'click to focus' is checked again.

Can't seem to convince things that I really want focus-follows-mouse.

Obviously, it's well tested. The relevant changes to justify the FFE:
* Fix problem where lmc fails to create images when the hwpack doesn't provide
a valid dtbfile
* Add support for generic linux based images, like OpenEmbedded.
* Add support for hwpack v3
* Increasing vmalloc pool to accommodate ioremap'ed devices and hwmem
allocations

[Bug 1047186] [NEW] Unity panels don't get redrawn after fast user switch

2012-09-07 Thread Flittermice
Public bug reported:

After doing a fast user switch the panels of the desktop being switched to
aren't properly redrawn.
1) The panel/panel icons on the left side are missing completely
2) The top panel is not drawn complete.

1) can be easily fixed by moving the mouse over it.
2) can be fixed by by moving the mouse over it and clicking where you would
expect the indicator menu to be.
See the attached screenshots.

Package: unity 5.14.0-0ubuntu1

[Bug 1047171] Re: Everything is missing

2012-09-07 Thread Jean-Baptiste Lallement
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. Unfortunately, we can't fix it because your description didn't include
enough information. You may find it helpful to read How to report bugs
effectively http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be
grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.
We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures.
At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport, either via the
appropriate application's Help - Report a Problem menu or using

[Bug 1046776] Re: Publish to Picasa Web gives login failure

2012-09-07 Thread Alberto Mardegan
Thanks for reporting this bug.
This bug was already fixed in the trunk; you need version 0.6 (or greater) of
package account-plugin-google in order for this to work. Unfortunately, such
package is not yet available. Ken, I'm counting on you :-)

However, just installing the new package won't fix your problem: you'll
actually have to re-create the google account, in order for this to
work. I just created bug 1047191 about that.

[Bug 1047196] [NEW] documented paths don't agree with reality

2012-09-07 Thread Dave Kimble
Public bug reported:

The Ubuntu packaged documention seems to mirror the Courier
documentation without taking into account the special paths used for the
build.

/usr/lib/courier/libexec/courier/webmail/webadmin is actually at
/usr/lib/courier/courier/webmail/webadmin .
/usr/lib/courier/etc/webadmin/password is actually at
/etc/courier/webadmin/password .

I suspect something similar is preventing me from successfully logging
in on Administrative Login page

I am running Ubuntu 12.04 with Cherokee 1.2.101 .
I have installed Courier-ESMTP (0.66.1), -POP3S, -IMAPS and -webadmin from the
Ubuntu Software Centre, and I'm now trying to get webadmin working so that I
can configure the Courier settings.

The instructions at the courier website say that I should use the
installation instructions that come with the packaged pre-built
binaries, but they are the same, despite the file system layout being
somewhat different.

I can get the Administrative Login screen up, and the installation
process already asked me to preset the password, and
/etc/courier/webadmin/password contains my password, but the login page
seems to reject my password and returns 302 and reloads the login page
without any error message.

===

Clean install from USC of Courier-ESMTP, -POP3S, -IMAPS, -webadmin , which
involves setting Admin Password.
Copy /usr/lib/courier/courier/webmail/webadmin to web server's
/docroot/cgi-bin/webadmin
chown and chmod
browse from localhost to http://domain/cgi-bin/webadmin - returns
Administrator Login - OK
enter password - fails 302 and reloads page without error message

[Bug 1047204] [NEW] virt-install will fail with cryptic message if not enough memory available for VM.

2012-09-07 Thread PaulSchulz
Public bug reported:

Then trying to use 'virt-install' to install a domain which had been created
with 'virt-convirt'
the install failed.

The cryptic message was:
$ virt-image --connect=qemu+ssh:///system dir/image.xml

Creating guest ImageName...
ERRORUnable to read from monitor: Connection reset by peer
Domain installation does not appear to have been successful.
If it was, you can restart your domain by running:
  virsh --connect qemu+ssh:///system start ImageName
otherwise, please restart your installation.

The problem was that I was trying to install a domain with 8G, when the
system only had 4G of physical memory.

Reducing the amount of memory defined in the XML file to 2G, and the
running the command again fixed the issue.

Messages in the log file pointed to an erroneous apparmor bug -

[Bug 907837] Re: Scrollbars - difficult to resize panels with 12.04 overlay scrollbar

2012-09-07 Thread Daniel Schürmann
Attached you will find a patch against
http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-branches/ubuntu/precise/overlay-scrollbar/precise/
It changes two things:

1. I if you leave the thumb in moving direction there is a zone of 16
Pixel where the thump is not moved before redraw. This allows to use
normal resizing in conditions where the thump resizing from Precise does
not work.

2. The thumb does not follow the mouse when mouse is in proximity area.
This allows to move the mouse direct to the page-up/down buttons without
detours.

I hope this patch solves most of the resize issues and not at least improves
the convenience of the overlay scrollbar.
I have also considered to move the thumb to the right, but I think it brakes
the design intention of this scrollbar.

I had trouble to test the trunk version on my system (12.4) , but if you
also think this is candidate for merge, I can provide a patch against
trunk.

[Bug 1032346] Re: tumblerd crashed with SIGSEGV in tumbler_util_get_supported_uri_schemes()

2012-09-07 Thread Martin Spacek
I get this on bootup in yesterday's Xubuntu 12.10 liveusb with all the
latest updates. This is on a ThinkPad W510, with NVidia GT216 (Quadro FX
880M) and the latest nvidia blob.

[Bug 924082] Re: NM fails to connect to campus Wi-Fi network; wicd succeeds -- Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 iwlwifi

2012-09-07 Thread Till W.
I am suffering from the same problem. My NIC is an Intel 6205:

03:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation Centrino Advanced-N 6205 (rev 34)
Subsystem: Intel Corporation Centrino Advanced-N 6205 AGN
Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 49
Memory at f250 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=8K]
Capabilities: access denied
Kernel driver in use: iwlwifi
Kernel modules: iwlwifi

My observations are:

Almost all WiFi networks work flawless using NetworkManager. However,
with some networks I have persistent problems. I get a connection for a
few minutes following boot-up, after that the NetworkManager icon goes
to scanning and the syslog fllls up with direct probe timed out
messages. I experience this problem *only* in my university. They use
exclusively Cisco equipment. I can look up the access point models if
necessary.

I am rather sure that NetworkManager is part of the problem. I
experience the problem even when trying to connect to an unencrypted
network at my university. However, when I stop NetworkManager and
connect manually (iwconfig wlan0 essid FOO; ifconfig wlan0 up; dhclient
wlan0) the bug does not occur even after hours.

I also tried iwconfig wlan0 power off but this does not fix the
direct probe timeout problem.
