[Bug 1047059] Re: Packaging Issues into Ubuntu 12.04
@stelford Thx for repply. 1) Post-install, /var/log/cinder is owned by root:root. It must be cinder:adm, (I said cinder:cinder, by bad). 2) Regarding /usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/volumes, I could see in the log that cinder-volume tried to write inside, but did not have the rights. I created /usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/volumes directory and chown cinder:cinder it, and I did not have this error anymore. [Bug 429844] Re: audio level between 0 and 20% not output
Kevin, Christopher, Many older STAC codecs have the oddity that when you set the hardware volume to its lowest value, the result is muting instead of the expected -48 dB. It looks like this oddity is being indicated correctly in the kernel driver, but the information is not adhered to in higher layers (alsa-lib, pulseaudio). As such, I doubt testing different kernel drivers will help, but if so, https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/UpgradingAlsa/DKMS is the best way of doing so as it contains the latest upstream fixes for HDA codecs. But it seems more likely to me that the problem is within alsa-lib or pulseaudio. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/429844 Title: audio level between 0 and 20% not output To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/429844/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1047196] [NEW] documented paths don't agree with reality
Public bug reported: The Ubuntu packaged documention seems to mirror the Courier documentation without taking into account the special paths used for the build. /usr/lib/courier/libexec/courier/webmail/webadmin is actually at /usr/lib/courier/courier/webmail/webadmin . /usr/lib/courier/etc/webadmin/password is actually at /etc/courier/webadmin/password . I suspect something similar is preventing me from successfully logging in on Administrative Login page I am running Ubuntu 12.04 with Cherokee 1.2.101 . I have installed Courier-ESMTP (0.66.1), -POP3S, -IMAPS and -webadmin from the Ubuntu Software Centre, and I'm now trying to get webadmin working so that I can configure the Courier settings. The instructions at the courier website say that I should use the installation instructions that come with the packaged pre-built binaries, but they are the same, despite the file system layout being somewhat different. I can get the Administrative Login screen up, and the installation process already asked me to preset the password, and /etc/courier/webadmin/password contains my password, but the login page seems to reject my password and returns 302 and reloads the login page without any error message. === Clean install from USC of Courier-ESMTP, -POP3S, -IMAPS, -webadmin , which involves setting Admin Password. [Bug 1047204] [NEW] virt-install will fail with cryptic message if not enough memory available for VM.
Public bug reported: Then trying to use 'virt-install' to install a domain which had been created with 'virt-convirt' the install failed. The cryptic message was: $ virt-image --connect=qemu+ssh:///system dir/image.xml Creating guest ImageName... ERRORUnable to read from monitor: Connection reset by peer Domain installation does not appear to have been successful. If it was, you can restart your domain by running: virsh --connect qemu+ssh:///system start ImageName otherwise, please restart your installation. The problem was that I was trying to install a domain with 8G, when the system only had 4G of physical memory. Reducing the amount of memory defined in the XML file to 2G, and the running the command again fixed the issue. [Bug 907837] Re: Scrollbars - difficult to resize panels with 12.04 overlay scrollbar
Attached you will find a patch against http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-branches/ubuntu/precise/overlay-scrollbar/precise/ It changes two things: 1. I if you leave the thumb in moving direction there is a zone of 16 Pixel where the thump is not moved before redraw. This allows to use normal resizing in conditions where the thump resizing from Precise does not work. 2. The thumb does not follow the mouse when mouse is in proximity area. This allows to move the mouse direct to the page-up/down buttons without detours. I hope this patch solves most of the resize issues and not at least improves the convenience of the overlay scrollbar. I have also considered to move the thumb to the right, but I think it brakes the design intention of this scrollbar. I had trouble to test the trunk version on my system (12.4) , but if you also think this is candidate for merge, I can provide a patch against trunk. ** Patch added: thump_moving.patch https://bugs.launchpad.net/ayatana-design/+bug/907837/+attachment/3297610/+files/thump_moving.patch ** Patch removed: thumb_moving.patch https://bugs.launchpad.net/ayatana-design/+bug/907837/+attachment/3297610/+files/thump_moving.patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/907837 Title: Scrollbars - difficult to resize panels with 12.04 overlay scrollbar To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ayatana-design/+bug/907837/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

However, with some networks I have persistent problems. I get a connection for a few minutes following boot-up, after that the NetworkManager icon goes to scanning and the syslog fllls up with direct probe timed out messages. I experience this problem *only* in my university. They use exclusively Cisco equipment. I can look up the access point models if necessary. I am rather sure that NetworkManager is part of the problem. I experience the problem even when trying to connect to an unencrypted network at my university. However, when I stop NetworkManager and connect manually (iwconfig wlan0 essid FOO; ifconfig wlan0 up; dhclient wlan0) the bug does not occur even after hours.
