[Bug 1153934] Re: Some radio streams which used to play OK don't play after updating to rhythmbox 2.98 or higher due a libsoup bug
rrich1974, the bug has been fixed upstream, and it seems that the updated package is already available in the development version of Ubuntu (14.04, to release in April). It's not immediate to update a library like the one responsible of this bug in a stable release because you never know what type of secondary effects it may have and you don't want to fix one thing and break others in a stable release. But if you think that the fix does not have secondary effects and there is a case for bringing it to a stable Ubuntu release, you can apply for a stable release updage (SRU). [Bug 1258058] Re: 10de:0fe4 [Lenovo IdeaPad Y510P] Brightness control no effect on screen
Hi, Brightness controls work on Ubuntu 12.04 with the raring ringtail kernel 3.8 and the liquorix kernel. 3.12.6. But for the system to launch with the brightness on, the user has to edit /etc/default/grub and change this line like this: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=quiet splash acpi_osi=\!Windows 2012\ On Ubuntu 13.10, the brightness controls do not work with these kernel versions. [Bug 1270084] [NEW] Buttons are displayed incorrectly
Public bug reported: I'm using Ubuntu 14.04 dev with nvidia-settings 331.20-0ubuntu7 and as seen in this screenshot (http://img4.picload.org/image/lgdpawp/2014_01_04_02_37.png) the 2 buttons Save Changes/Reload and Update Rule/Cancel are looking if they were merged. Basically the Save Changes/Reload buttons are the same as Add Rule, Delete Rule, etc. but with the difference that their background layer isn't horizontally stretched as above. So there are 3 possible solutions: Either the buttons should be the same like Help/Quit, the background layer could be stretched or simply all the these background layers could be removed (as they are even currently not shown in many themes - maybe they were simply an accident). [Bug 1180157] Re: Xorg freeze
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected reproducible single-occurrence trusty ** Description changed: This bug is in 12.10 13.04 and 13.10 (I've been waiting to see if would go away ;-) When the system comes back from suspend the screen is black. Changing virtual terminals does nothing. If I have a program that makes sound, such as Alarm Clock the sound plays. I.e. the system appears to be alive but lacking a screen driver. Cntrl-Alt-Del has no noticable result. The only way out of this state I can figure out is to re-power the machine. A system update recently changed the close lid back to suspend, so closing the lid kills the video. I suppose it is clear from the uploaded information, but just in case, this is an Acer 7250. Thanks! [Bug 1270087] Re: package mysql-server-5.5 (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: il sottoprocesso nuovo script pre-installation ha restituito lo stato di errore 1
Thank you for your report. This looks like a local configuration problem, rather than a bug in Ubuntu. You can find pointers to get help for this sort of problem here: http://www.ubuntu.com/support/community Since we use this bug tracker to track bugs in Ubuntu, rather than configuration problems, I'm marking this bug as Invalid. This helps us to focus on fixing bugs in Ubuntu. If you believe that this is really a bug, then you may find it helpful to read How to report bugs effectively http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem, explain why you believe this is a bug rather than a problem specific to your system, and then change the bug status back to New. ** Changed in: mysql-5.5 (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1270087 Title: package mysql-server-5.5 (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: il sottoprocesso nuovo script pre-installation ha restituito lo stato di errore 1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mysql-5.5/+bug/1270087/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1270116] [NEW] nautilus-dropbox: dropbox fails to start with a pylinux import error [solved: dropbox issue; fix found by deleting old install files]
Public bug reported: Ubuntu 13.10 nautilus-dropbox 1.4.0-3ubuntu0.13.10.1 I recently updated to ubuntu 13.10 and found that I had no dropbox icon; Upon looking, it turned out to be because drobox was not running. The issue seems to be related to recent Debian Python updates. In any case, anyone affected with this issue should be able to perform the above steps to fix this bug. -- Not sure there is much nautilus-dropbox can do about this, as it seems to be related to the binary that is downloaded from dropbox, though perhaps removing the /var/lib/dropbox/.dorpbox-dist dir in pre-install could be considered if the update always will refresh that directory. Re: [Bug 1180157] Re: Xorg freeze
downloaded 'trusty' ;-) yes, once the lid is closed then opened the screen is blank, and actually it appears the system is hung, but it is hard to know for sure. Also it boots without a mouse between 1/2 and 2/3 of the time, so it requires multiple boot attempts to get the mouse to appear. The run from usb stick does not keep information between bootups. Hence, the WIFI settings must be re-entered on every boot, and then apport must be installed again. It stands to reason that the apport report will not have any useful data, because a reboot is required after it crashes when the lid is closed, so as to get a terminal to run apport from. The three of those demons all play together! I've been at this for a good couple of hours just to get the lid shut, opened, and to send a report. I might humbly suggest, that for the 'run from usb' not to store any data is a bit over the top in terms of making debugging difficult, you all might should change that. I'm not able to do an install to disk because the Fedora disk partitioner has made a pretty mess on the prior install. They have gone 'minalmist' and virtual, but it gave all sorts of errors and left holes on the disk. (Yes I filed a bug on that, and yes of course there was no data in the apport report because the disk had to be repartitioned between runs ...) I'm afraid to touch that house of cards, gosh if I break the system while traveling I will be in quite a fix! Good luck with the debugging! Thomas BTW Fedora 19 has both of these problems on Acer 7250 also. On 2014-01-09 07:49, Christopher M. Penalver wrote: Thomas Lynch, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ . If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p xserver-xorg-video-ati REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER Please note, given that the information from the prior release is already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one would not be helpful.
