[Bug 1384342] Re: kernel messages intel_crtc_wait_for_pending_flips correlate to compiz hang
I'm also seeing this hang intermittently in Vivid Vervet. Judging from the kernel bug thread, this might be resolved in in drm- intel-nightly. (It's not clear which commit fixed this issue, so not sure if it made its way into 3.17 or 3.18rc yet.) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1384342 Title: kernel messages intel_crtc_wait_for_pending_flips correlate to compiz hang To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/1384342/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1386394] [NEW] SRU: catch 14.04 up with curtin trunk features
Public bug reported: === Begin SRU Template === [Impact] Newer versions of MAAS require/use some features in newer versions of curtin. This bug tracks and describes new features of curtin that are being brought back to 14.04. The following is a list of the new features that are being SRU'd. * hardware enablement: ppc64 support MAAS install with fast path installer is expected to work both to PowerNV and KVM guests. * hardware enablement: know kernel mapping for utopic (hwe-u = 3.16). When the Utopic level hardware enablement kernel is made available for 14.04, curtin should be able to utilize that kernel when it is booted in an environment with a 3.16 kernel. * feature: support installing disk images including windows. MAAS's windows install should function. * feature: support creating swap file installations by default should have a swap file created (/swap.img). * feature: support reporting logs back to MAAS curtin install logs are available on maas in 1.7 and later for user inspection. * feature: enable logging of installation to /var/log/curtin/install.log (LP: #1378910) curtin install will always write /var/log/curtin/install.log with log/debug information. [Other Info] MAAS's dependency on newer curtin for hardware enablement and features was raised to the technical board at [1]. There was no official response there, so at the current time we're pursuing this under a standard SRU. [Bug 1386399] Re: Compiz shows many copies of cursor and the real jumps.
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1386399/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package. [Bug 420590] Re: UPNP does not start correctly
Sounds like it could be a multicast problem. I have had similar with a Broadcom Wifi chipset whose drivers don't properly do multicast. I realise this is an old bug, I didn't check for historical ones last time I tidied up this package, but in case I can still help - - first thing to check, have you set up your multicast interface correctly ? If you are running libupnp as part of a server so that it can advertise itself, then you need to do this. You should have a route to 239.0.0.0/8, or possibly 224.0.0/4. Do sudo ip route ls to check. (If you use multicast in your network for purposes other than service discovery then you will need both, in this case give me more details). - second thing to check - is it a problem with your network adaptor's multicast handling ? Some WLAN cards, for instance, don't support multicast unless placed into promiscuous mode. Check this by repeating your wireshark test but make sure promiscuous mode is unticked in the interface selection dialogue. If this *doesn't* cause libupnp to detectyour devices then you need to look into your network drivers -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/420590 Title: UPNP does not start correctly To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libupnp/+bug/420590/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

As + such, this SRU only adds the configuration option, but doesn't enable + it. + [Test Case] 1- Configure dovecot 2- Connect with SSLv3 only - 3- add ssl_protocols = !SSLv3 to dovecot configuration ile + 3- add ssl_protocols = !SSLv3 to dovecot configuration file 4- Connect with SSLv3 only 5- Connect with TLS to make sure it still works Alternatively, the security team QRT script has been modified to test for this. It can be used. [Regression Potential] This touches the config file parsing code, and the SSL code. Any regression could result in the configuration file not being parsed correctly, or for some unknown issue with SSL negotiation. - Original description: The current version of dovecot in Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, Precise Pangolin is 2.0.19 This version is too old to switch off SSLv3 which has been designated insecure as of the recent poodle discovery [1]. In dovecot versions 2.1+ the protocol can be switched off, but for older versions the source code would need to be patched [2,3] I asked the Ubuntu team to either backport a patch to 2.0.19, or package a newer version of dovecot for precise. [Bug 1239578] Re: No wireless support for Realtek RTL8192EE [10ec:818b]
I often have to restart a couple of times before I can connect to wi-fi. When I finally do, there can be anywhere from 10% - 40% packet loss. I tried installing rtl-wifi-new and I wasn't able to connect at all (although maybe I didn't restart enough times) so I tried uninstalling it and the uninstaller destroyed my /boot/efi partition. I couldn't repair it and had to re-install Ubuntu altogether. I'm on Ubuntu 14.10, kernel 3.16.0-23-generic. I have a Lenovo ThinkPad T440p laptop. [Bug 1385127] Re: virt-manager cannot be start from Unity
Thanks for that information. $HOME/.local/share/applications/virt-manager.desktop overrides the system .desktop file, and is pointing to an old file which the new package does not provide. That is why it appears to now do nothing. (Whether Unity should provide better feedback about that is an open question; we could mark this bug as affecting Unity to find out) To fix this, remove that file: rm $HOME/.local/share/applications/virt-manager.desktop and log out and back in. virt-manager should then start back up. ** Changed in: virt-manager (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1385127 Title: virt-manager cannot be start from Unity To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/virt-manager/+bug/1385127/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 1361842] Re: dmraid does not start on boot for single disk RAID0
The LSI option rom will not present a drive to the EFI BIOS without a raid label on the disc. If the array is deleted then EFI will not boot off the drive at all. As far as I can tell there is no fall back option rom that provides simple AHCI services to EFI. This is the problem, because the boot script is wrong the installer and so forth has a very high probability to destroy the RAID label when it writes a GPT partition label, which renders the system unbootable, and unless you actually know about this quirk the only symptom is that the boot menu from the BIOS has no option to boot from the hard drive. [Bug 886321] Re: Upstart issue and mythbackend
Any fix for this yet? Roughly three years later and still we are having the same issues with MythTV Backend / Upstart. Myth is now at version 0.27.4 and Ubuntu is at 13.10 (Saucy Salamander) and 14.04 (Trusty Tahr) Apparently this is an issue that got placed on the back burner since MythTV is not an integral part of the operation of Ubuntu. But, if this has led to it being an issue with Upstart, is there a reason it has not been fixed with the newer releases of Ubuntu? Let's put things into perspective here, the normal user that has just enough knowledge with Linux to install something via the terminal probably does not know how to install some of these patches that get listed in the Bugs section. Is it at all possible to make it easier for those that don't know how to patch a program or broken part of Ubuntu and maybe post a script to do the patching for them? And yes, I do understand that there are many applications/programs written for Ubuntu and it is hard to check every application/program, but if it is posted as a bug then maybe follow through to fruition with that bug before a new release of Ubuntu if it is an issue within the distro? Thanks This is from 14.04 Trusty Tahr with all recent updates including the latest MythTV Backend 0.27.x. [Bug 1310058] Re: ecryptfs-setup-swap hints after reboot
About power management settings being ignored, please ask on the forum of Ubuntu (or the distro you are using) or open a new bug. It should be unrelated to this bug, you just never saw this problem because you were never able to hibernate at all. That hibernate fails, is yet another different problem. It is by design that the encrypted swap created by ecryptfs-setup-swap won't work with hibernate. I think it has been discussed at length in other bug reports or on forums already, with other encryption methods (such as encryption with a password instead of a random key) being suggested as solutions. Not encrypting your swap would of course allow you to hibernate as well. In short, you already fixed the problem which this bug describes, the other problems which are left to fix are beyond the scope of this bug. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1310058 Title: ecryptfs-setup-swap hints after reboot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ecryptfs-utils/+bug/1310058/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1375977] Re: cloud-installer hangs at initializing
I've now tried the single node cloud-installer option on 2 different machines. One an 8 core amd w/32GB ram and the other an Intel Haswell i7 with 32GB ram. I've followed 2 different blog's: http://astokes.org/containerize-jujus-local-provider/ or... http://ubuntu-cloud-installer.readthedocs.org/en/latest/single-installer.guide.html In both cases I issue the commands for single node install $ sudo cloud-install and in both cases waited 7-8 hrs and the screens on both were still reporting deployment in progress please wait. So I'd terminate. Can someone update either of the above 2 web sites as to progress on getting this to work... or work reliably?
