Thanks for the bug report. Hmm, I'm not sure I follow exactly how you are getting this freeze. A few questions: 1. When you say "notifications", do you mean the indicators on the top right of the screen such as time, volume, session, etc? 2. Are you using a mouse, touchscreen, or something else? 3. When you say the boarder line, do you mean to the left, right, top, or bottom of the area you are trying to access? 4. Could you attach ~/.cache/upstart/unity8.log after this freeze occurs? 5. [Bug 1401148] Re: Re/starting an lxc container corrupts all network namespaces on the same physical host
So for now I added also a task for the kernel, though the truth (if such a thing exists) could be somewhere between. Serge, Stephane, what we probably need to figure out is what exactly lxc-start tries to get done when slave mounting /run/netns. And somehow it might be possible that it needs improvement for the case that this is denied or fails. Looking at it from the outside it feels like going on assuming it got its own space but actually continuing to use the host space. The other thing would be that this sound like lxc-start would require a rule to actually allow it to do that mount of /run/netns. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1401148 Title: Re/starting an lxc container corrupts all network namespaces on the same physical host To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1401148/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1285444] Re: Login Successful, Desktop Never Loads
As usual there has been 'progress' on my side. I lost my primary SSD and had to reinstall. The problem went away with that. I'm still convinced that the problem is with unity getting stuck, not the graphics driver. Just try something: Create a subdirectory in your home directory and move everything (including all hidden files/directories) into it. Then log back in and it will work again. Krzysztof, you don't have to downgrade the kernel. This is only necessary with the open-source Intel drivers. [Bug 1401148] Re: Re/starting an lxc container corrupts all network namespaces on the same physical host
so I think it's some systemd handling which does that. LXC unshares the mnt namespace which gets it a copy of the host's, then it's doing some magic (rprivate I believe) to get things working under systemd, then mounts what it needs, unmounts everything else and pivot_root. lxc itself has no code to deal with /run/netns, so it's not special casing it.

[Bug 1371159] Re: MacBookPro 11, 1 (Haswell, retina) fails to both suspend and hibernate with ubuntu 14.04
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected ** Description changed: Cannot make a MacBookPro 11,1 suspend. 1. When putting the lid down, acpi_listen prints: $ acpi_listen button/lid LID close button/lid LID open ... so the lid is signalling correctly. Upon opening, the screensaver prompt is present, and typing in the password brings me back to the desktop. Nothing is found in dmesg. 2. When choosing "suspend" from the top-right power menu, the screen goes black and shortly lights up again, showing the screensaver login prompt. Typing in the password brings me back to the desktop as if nothing had happened. 3. To remark that the power menu in the System Settings shows sometimes "Suspend" as greyed out, and hibernate is not listed. Perhaps this is related to the suspend process taking very long (minutes) as reported in other bugs, but I have never waited so long to find out. 4. When attempting to hibernate instead, using: $ sudo pm-hibernate ... something similar to triggering a suspend happens, but this time dmesg lists one error: [ 1434.487141] [drm:hsw_unclaimed_reg_clear] *ERROR* Unknown unclaimed register before writing to 2030 The whole relevant part of the dmesg is below, containing the sequence towards hibernation and then the sequence towards power up, cropped at the CPUs. [Bug 1104230] Re: DisplayPort 1.2 MST support is missing in the Intel driver
Ben, are you able to compare this behaviour with the 3.17 kernel (e.g. from debs available at [1])? If the behavior is consistent between the two kernel version - it's another issue. If 3.17 behaves better than the 3.16 you were using - this is the right place to handle the problem. [Bug 1104230] Re: DisplayPort 1.2 MST support is missing in the Intel driver
I've got that in progress. In the meantime, I realized there was a newer kernel+driver from yours and the xorg-edgers PPAs, so I did that upgrade, and now unity-control-center only sees one external monitor, with the second being treated as a mirror of the first. This is using: 3.16.0-28-generic xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.99.916+git20141210.04a09d35-0ubuntu0sarvatt Here's some drm.debug logspam which may or may not be useful. [Bug 1104230] Re: DisplayPort 1.2 MST support is missing in the Intel driver
3.17 functions almost 100% correct. I'm able to use both external displays again, and Ubuntu can see them after unplugging/plugging in, and after suspend/wake. The only issue is that I sometimes have to disable and re-enable the monitors to get a picture back after plugging back in or waking back up. [Bug 1386534] Re: kernel dependent deterministic view crash on X startup
I have just tested the specially prepared 3.13.11-03131106-generic kernel you gave me, and the usual error IS THERE. Using the last few new kernels, the typical scenario is this: (1) the correct picture is there for 1 or at most 2 seconds (2) then the view is wraps around, asif the horisontal synchron position was at the two-third of the lines (3) then within additional very fey seconds the screen becomes white, except for the topmost few scan lines (4) and again pretty soon, the whole bright area begins to vibrate between bright white and less bright And as soon as I boot back into an earlier kernel but using the same Ubuntu root partition, then the screen is steady, and I can work, e.g. write this comment. [Bug 1311316] Re: After locking screen there is no input field to type password for unlock
Seems like there is a misunderstanding: the fix is not included in Trusty (14.04 LTS) but just in 14.10+. Will be inclued in next SRU. ** Description changed: *** IMPORTANT ** + + *** The fix is not included in TRUSTY. Will be included with next SRU. + *** + If you can reproduce this bug please be sure to provide the following info: 1. Do you use a multi-head setup? If yes, using just one monitor fixes the issue? - 2. Can you reproduce all the time? + 2. Can you reproduce all the time? 3. Do you use ldap? If yes, using gnome-screensaver fix the issue (see comment #115) can you still reproduce that? 4. Please consider posting /var/log/auth.log (at least part of it, should not contain sensitive information) 5. Please specify the unity version *** END IMPORTANT ** Sometimes (but not always) after locking the screen there is the situation not having any input field where I can type the password to unlock the session again. The shaded gray area simply does not have the input field. I can't do anything, I have to switch to text console and stop/start lightdm service to cure the problem loosing all of my session :( ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.04 Package: unity 7.2.0+14.04.20140416-0ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.13.0-24.46-generic 3.13.9 Uname: Linux 3.13.0-24-generic i686 ApportVersion: 2.14.1-0ubuntu3 Architecture: i386 CompizPlugins: No value set for `/apps/compiz-1/general/screen0/options/active_plugins' CurrentDesktop: Unity Date: Tue Apr 22 22:17:57 2014 InstallationDate: Installed on 2012-03-03 (780 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 11.04 "Natty Narwhal" - Release i386 (20110427.1) SourcePackage: unity UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to trusty on 2013-10-18 (186 days ago) ** Changed in: unity Status: Confirmed => Fix Committed ** Changed in: unity/7.2 Status: Confirmed => In Progress -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1311316 Title: After locking screen there is no input field to type password for unlock To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/1311316/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1104230] Re: DisplayPort 1.2 MST support is missing in the Intel driver
@Ben: if you were using an official Utopic 3.16.0-28-generic kernel, please note that it does NOT contain support for multiple displays using MST, so it will not be possible to have non-mirroring displays. If it is not from the official Utopic repository, please share the origin of this kernel. @Krzysztof - if AMD drivers (unlike NVIDIA's) need the MST hub support then booting the 3.13.0-39 kernel should do it. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1104230 Title: DisplayPort 1.2 MST support is missing in the Intel driver To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/1104230/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
