[Bug 1405256] [NEW] Package does not contain service file

2014-12-23 Thread Ivan
Public bug reported:

After installing cgroup-bin in Ubuntu 14.04 (LTS) I tried to start the
service, but there's no service file:

ivan@ivan-ubuntu:~$ sudo service cgconfig status
cgconfig: unrecognized service
ivan@ivan-ubuntu:~$

There's an answer in Ask Ubuntu that suggests that the package is broken and
worked in previous versions, here:
http://askubuntu.com/questions/528258/why-is-cgconfig-conf-not-being-read-on-reboot-on-14-04/529636#529636

Thank you.

[Bug 1405084] [NEW] VERY slow when using images in Writer

2014-12-23 Thread robegue
Public bug reported:

Scolling and typing becomes painfully slow when an image is added in
LibreOffice Writer. It becomes faster (not much) when the same image
covers a smaller area.

From settings, I've tried to maximize the graphics memory, and to
enable/disable hardware acceleration and antialiasing, but it doesn't
help.

The problem persists in LibreOffice 4.3.5-rc2 from ubuntu PPA.

[Bug 1405090] [NEW] Broken Cursor with Dual Screen setup ATI Radeon HD 5000/6000/7350 Series

2014-12-23 Thread tinman2501
Public bug reported:

This is very possible necromancy/a dublicate of Bug #360724.

Without any recognizeable pattern the cursor corrupts on the first of my
dual screen setup. Sometimes it is copped up vertically, sometimes the
cursor is reduced to a thin line. This is independent from the cursor
theme/style.

Taking screenshots is not possible, the mousecursor appears ok in the
pictures.

[Bug 1351543] Re: whoopsie-preferences does not honor CRASH_DB_IDENTIFIER

2014-12-23 Thread Dimitri John Ledkov
whoopsie, by default generates the ID used to identify the machine.
and so does whoopsie-preferences.
However one can override the ID of whoopsie, by setting an environment variable
(e.g. the way it's done for the emulators).
However, this makes whoopsie-preferences display and expose wrong ID, as it
does not / cannot query the environment of the whoopsie process.

[Bug 1405094] [NEW] Laptop screen stops working when DVI screen is connected at boot

2014-12-23 Thread Volodya
Public bug reported:

This problem is new with 14.10, did not exist with 14.04

What i do to reproduce:

Turn laptop off
Connect a screen via DVI
Turn computer on

What happens:

Laptop screen stops working as soon as the OS begins to boot
Once i login, it's clear that the OS thinks that the screen is working, since i
can move my mouse into the area of that screen and move it around there. I can
drag windows there and if i can grab them afterwards, i can move them back into
the visible DVI screen.
Disconnecting DVI screen does *not* turn on the Laptop screen
The only way to get laptop screen to work is to boot and login without DVI and
connect it only afterwards.

What i expect to happen:

When booting with two screens, both should work with the settings in
place.

[Bug 1386721] Re: Graphics Slow After Upgrade 14.04 - 14.10

2014-12-23 Thread Hardkorova
Same thing on the HP's Chromebook 14 on Intel, on the latest kernels
(3.17-3.18). It happens after couple of hours of work or moments with
high CPU load. Bug brings slow redrawing in Opera (presto) and Chromium,
but Firefox refreshing stays smooth. Also, appears a high CPU
consumption by XOrg, when browsers are opened.

[Bug 1405108] [NEW] rubygems-integration does not see newer versions of a gem

2014-12-23 Thread Wybo Dekker
Public bug reported:

In Xubuntu 14.10, Ruby 2.1.2, when I install package ruby-colorize, I get
colorize-0.6.0.
This version has bugs.
When I then install version 0.7.5 (the newest version) with:

$ gem install -r colorize

I have both version 0.6.0 and version 0.7.5 and I expect that the ruby
statement:

require 'colorize'

will load version 0.7.5
This is not true: version 0.6.0 is loaded.
I can solve that by uninstalling the ruby-colorize package, which should not be
necessary.

I suspect (but am not sure) that the rubygems-integration package is the cause
of this problem.

[Bug 1405118] [NEW] Keyboard layout changes randomly for no reason

2014-12-23 Thread Nikita Yerenkov-Scott
Public bug reported:

This problem has occurred ever since I installed Ubuntu on this machine,
I installed 14.04, and even though I have upgraded to 14.10, the problem
still persists. Even though I have gone into the Text entry settings,
and deleted English (US) from their. It will still at random times
change from what I want it to be English (UK), to English (US)
keyboard layout. And when this has happened I have looked in the
settings to see which of the keyboard layouts is selected, and even
though it is clear that it has somehow changed to English (US), it
still says it is English (UK).

[Bug 1356548] Re: Duplicity restore fails with UTF-8 chars in --file-to-restore

2014-12-23 Thread Sascha
This also affects me !

The Backup with DejaDup is executed without any error.
Then I wanted to restore a file

1. The Special characters are not recognized correctly so dell´anima.doc is
shown as dell
2. If i execute the restore nevertheless i get a FOLDER ! dellanima.doc
(codifica non valida) instead of a doc file.

Where is my data ?

So the restore function with special characters for me as normal user is
completly broken.

[Bug 1405128] [NEW] Deja-Dup Restore does not work

2014-12-23 Thread Sascha
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1356548 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1356548

Public bug reported:

The Backup with DejaDup is executed without any error.
Then I wanted to restore a file

1. The Special characters are not recognized correctly so dell´anima.doc is
shown as dell
2. If i execute the restore nevertheless i get a FOLDER ! dellanima.doc
(codifica non valida) instead of a doc file.

Where is my data ?

So the restore function with special characters for me as normal user is
completly broken.
People are not aware that they can not redo their backup. - Risk of complete
data loss
This is why i consider this as a major bug. This should never happen with a
offical release of a backup software !

[Bug 1356548] Re: Duplicity restore fails with UTF-8 chars in --file-to-restore

2014-12-23 Thread Sascha
A comment on
I'm doubtful this fix will be backported to 14.04 because it's actually an odd
case.

For me there was nothing odd. I did straight backup and then tried a restore.
I use LTS versions for havin some stability and long term support.

But what is this worth if the essential feature restore of the
standard backup software which is shipped does not do what is expected ?
If you need more information about this case please contact me.

[Bug 1405094] Re: Laptop screen stops working when HDMI screen is connected at boot

2014-12-23 Thread Volodya
** Summary changed:

- Laptop screen stops working when DVI screen is connected at boot
+ Laptop screen stops working when HDMI screen is connected at boot

** Description changed:

This problem is new with 14.10, did not exist with 14.04

  What i do to reproduce:

  Turn laptop off
- Connect a screen via DVI
+ Connect a screen via HDMI
  Turn computer on

  What happens:

Laptop screen stops working as soon as the OS begins to boot
- Once i login, it's clear that the OS thinks that the screen is working, since
i can move my mouse into the area of that screen and move it around there. I
can drag windows there and if i can grab them afterwards, i can move them back
into the visible DVI screen.
- Disconnecting DVI screen does *not* turn on the Laptop screen
- The only way to get laptop screen to work is to boot and login without DVI
and connect it only afterwards.
+ Once i login, it's clear that the OS thinks that the screen is working, since
i can move my mouse into the area of that screen and move it around there. I
can drag windows there and if i can grab them afterwards, i can move them back

+ Disconnecting HDMI screen does *not* turn on the Laptop screen
+ The only way to get laptop screen to work is to boot and login without HDMI
and connect it only afterwards.

  What i expect to happen:

When booting with two screens, both should work with the settings in
  place.

[Bug 1405140] [NEW] e4defrag doesn't notice if a device is mounted multiple times

[Bug 1405143] [NEW] Featuire Request: Menu item to scan for new music

2014-12-23 Thread Raptor Ramjet
Public bug reported:

Mythbuntu: 14.04

On the myth video screen you can press the M (menu) key and one of the
items available on the popup menu is Scan For Changes.

myth music should have also have a Scan For Changes feature available
from it's M key menu which will trigger a search for new music.

Whilst I know you there is a scan for new music feature available in
the Setup Utilities menu this is currently inconsistent with the way
the video screen works (not to mention the fact you have to dig down
several screens to find it)

Having the scan feature also available from the music screen itself
would be a more obvious, and much more discoverable, implementation of
the feature.

both when using the keyboard shortcut and the gui applet. I cannot

[Bug 1310335] Re: IPv6 renewal causes network-manager to disconnect reconnect

2014-12-23 Thread e633
Looks like i was wrong: the connection gets dropped anyway. I've just tested
this slowly downloading a large file (this is what happens):
http://pastebin.com/4Xida2qu
So i guess it's not (just) a network manager issue.

[Bug 1405154] Re: firefox windows move with workspace change

2014-12-23 Thread Stephen M. Webb
The behaviour you are describing is exactly what I would expect if the
Compiz sticky window matching rule included class=firefox.

Please install the compizconfig-settings-manager package and run the
ccsm program. Under the Window Management category, make sure the
Window Rules plugin is unchecked.

I'm marking this bug report as 'incomplete' until you have confirmed the
state of that Compiz plugin.
