[Bug 1318882] Re: lock screen not visible after resume
Jesse Gilles, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ . If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p xorg 1318882 Please ensure you have xdiagnose installed, and that you click the Yes button for attaching additional debugging information. As well, given the information from the prior release is already available, testing a release prior to the development one would not be helpful. Thank you for your understanding. [Bug 1426716] [NEW] Using Pdb for Python causes a segmentation fault in readline
Public bug reported: I am debugging a Python unit test using pdb. In my code I use the following: import pdb ... pdb.set_trace() This drops me into a Pdb prompt (handled by readline). [Bug 1422290] Re: Default charsets handling for Windows archives in CJKV+th locale
Dear @Nobuto, I appreciate the patch work very much, but it simply doesn't fit my use case. Quite frequently, I get zip files with CJK file names from zh_CN and ja_JP. (my environment is either zh_TW or en_US, the later which is for office desktop PC) Changing LC_CTYPE to something other than UTF8 is definitely *no good* here. This would generate more monjikai file names. Changing LC_MESSAGE is not necessary since I can read either. Adding support in the GUI front-end is really needed here. My use case may be not close to general end users. But I know many experienced users used to adopt en_US locale to be able to use the type-n-search for launching applications. (surely this is another issue) Another thing I met before is using CJKV in the archiving password. Not sure if this is (still) a problem? [Bug 794720] Re: xubuntu desktop fails to respect preferred applications
I have discovered that the cause of this behaviour is a file conflict betweentwo seperate defaults.list files. In Mint 17 XFCE my /usr/share/applications/defaults.list and /etc/gnome/defaults.list point to a different web browser. My /usr/share/applications/defaults.list has the entries x-scheme- handler/http=opera-browser.desktop and x-scheme-handler/https=opera- browser.desktop while /etc/gnome/defaults.list has the entries x -scheme-handler/http=firefox.desktop and x-scheme- handler/https=firefox.desktop. I have Opera set as my preferred application, and that is the browser which opens when exo-open --launch WebBrowser %u is called in the terminal. The applications that open the firefox browser must be reading their instructions from /etc/gnome/defaults.list. When the x-scheme-handler is changed to be opera-browser these applications launch opera in stead of firefox. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/794720 Title: xubuntu desktop fails to respect preferred applications To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/chromium-browser/+bug/794720/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 774290] Re: Can't switch to top-left workspace using keyboard
This particular phenomenon depends on your keyboard hardware. Some less expensive keyboard use a reduced number of physical scan lines, and common place where this has an effect is when the up-arrow and left- arrow keys share a common line, meaning the keyboard itself can not distinguish between they keys. There is, unfortunately, nothing Compiz can do to accommodate this hardware fault since it occurs long before Compiz receives the input even data. ** Changed in: compiz Status: Expired = Won't Fix ** Changed in: unity Status: Expired = Won't Fix ** Changed in: compiz (Ubuntu) Status: Expired = Won't Fix ** Changed in: unity (Ubuntu) Status: Expired = Won't Fix -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/774290 Title: Can't switch to top-left workspace using keyboard To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/compiz/+bug/774290/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command: sudo dmidecode -s bios-version sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette . Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't have to create a new bug report. [Bug 1426774] [NEW] Ambiance GTK problem with coloured symbolic icon
Public bug reported: It appears that there is a problem with Ambiance GTK (and also Radiance GTK) when displaying a coloured symbolic icon: When using Numix(-Circle) icon theme, in Files/Nautilus the red icon user-trash-full- symbolic.svg is not displayed in red (RGB 220 50 47, or dc322f), but rather in a hardly visible light grey on light grey. In contrast, with current Numix GTK from Numix Project and with current Orchis GTK from Moka Project, this icon is displayed correctly and as expected in the red colour as designed. I am attaching three screenshots for comparison. Possibly of interest may also be this corresponding bug report against Numix icon theme: https://github.com/numixproject/numix-icon- theme/issues/240 Maybe there is a solution for this from Ambiance GTK's side. This behaviour just as in Ubuntu 14.10 is also present in current daily Ubuntu 15.04. If I remember correctly, this behaviour started with Ubuntu 14.10, whereas in Ubuntu 14.04 LTS the icon was displayed correctly and as expected in the red colour as designed. [Bug 1418029] Re: what f r u talking about
chris, thank you for taking the time to report this and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read How to report bugs effectively http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html and https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs . We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures At a minimum, we need: 1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem, 2. The behavior you expected, and 3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). Thank you for your understanding. ** Tags added: needs-full-computer-model ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Low ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1418029 Title: what f r u talking about To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1418029/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1418679] Re: Multiline text controls occasionally get corrupted on refresh
Michael von Glasow, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ . If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p xorg 1418679 Please ensure you have xdiagnose installed, and that you click the Yes button for attaching additional debugging information. As well, given the information from the prior release is already available, testing a release prior to the development one would not be helpful. Thank you for your understanding. [Bug 1426712] [NEW] Problem with the dropdown arrow in Ubuntu software updater
Public bug reported: The dropdown arrow (triangle) pointing sideways disappears, or more precisely is hardly visible because there seems to be a kind of transparent border around it, when a package in Ubuntu software updates is marked. The same applies when the dropdown arrow is clicked and now is pointing downwards. The GTK theme used is the Ubuntu default Ambiance GTK theme. The expected behaviour would be that the arrow simply turns all white and stays clearly visible. That is also the correct behaviour in current Ubuntu 14.10, no problem there. Possibly of interest might be this similar bug report against Numix GTK theme, in this case relating to Ubuntu 14.10: https://github.com/shimmerproject/Numix/issues/197 Attached is an overview with three screenshots, the problem with the dropdown arrow is pointed to. If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything? If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command: sudo dmidecode -s bios-version sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette . Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't have to create a new bug report. [Bug 1426721] [NEW] [FFe] merge console-setup 1.108 from Debian
Public bug reported: It would be nice to merge console-setup (with 1.108 from Debian, as it was prepared by Steve Langasek). The main changes are to get more in sync with Debian. There is still a lot of work required to get us in sync (or almost) with Debian since they've already moved on to 1.117; and there is still a lot of possibly unnecessary delta in keyboard-configuration.config, but this gets us a fair way towards reducing the delta from Debian, and more changes would require extra testing and coordination. This update was tested from my PPA; I built mini.iso images including the change to be able to test that it was behaving properly at installation time for vivid, on upgrade on vivid as well on upgrade for a trusty-vivid manual dist-upgrade of all the packages and a utopic-vivid upgrade. Changes: console-setup (1.108ubuntu1) vivid; urgency=medium . [ Steve Langasek ] * Merge from Debian unstable, remaining changes: - Don't gzip font or ACM files in /etc/console-setup/. The space saving is negligible, and it's more efficient not to need to uncompress them at boot time. - Include pc105.tree for ubiquity. - Move boot tasks to a combination of two udev rules and a single Upstart job, ensuring that they're run at points when we are able to satisfy the constraints on the relevant ioctls. - Stop running debconf-updatepo on clean. - Set keymap and font in the initramfs if possible and sensible. - Add an apport hook. - Use keymapper to generate decision trees for a restricted subset of the pc105 model. - Depend on kbd (= 1.15-1ubuntu3) for a valuable loadkeys improvement. - Include support for translated keyboard names. - Depend on debconf instead of pre-depending, because pre-depends have no effect on config scripts. - debian/vtrgb, debian/vtrgb.vga, debian/console-setup-linux.setvtrgb.upstart, debian/rules, debian/console-setup-linux.postinst: use Ubuntu's virtual terminal color scheme by default, with a VGA color scheme available as an alternative. - Make setupcon explicitly exit 0, so that postinsts don't fail in the event that loadkeys can't find a console. - Update for new layouts and variants for Montenegro and Serbia, and migrate configuration files from the old layouts. - Generate a locale locally for translating keyboard names in kbdnames-maker. - Don't copy keyboard-configuration questions to /target in OEM mode. oem-config will ask them later, and copying these confuses it. - Change the default font from Fixed to VGA for Lat15; while it's not entirely complete, it looks better and is largely good enough. - If the detect-keyboard debconf plugin is available (cdebconf-newt-detect-keys in the installer), then offer to use it to detect the keyboard layout. - Fix default keyboard selection for language/country combinations lacking a proper combined locale. - Drop the layout/variant priority to high on fresh installs. - Set default for Dutch to us(intl), not just us. - Set default layout for Vietnam to 'us'. - Set default variant for French to oss. - Set default layout for Simplified Chinese to 'cn'. - Don't use the default keyboard variant if the layout is overridden by preseeding. - If keyboard-configuration/layoutcode is preseeded but not marked as seen, then set the default layout but don't lower the layout question priority or preseed console-setup/ask_detect. - Use the default keyboard model if an existing configuration file sets XKBMODEL=. - Go back to always asking layout before variant. - Fix keyboard layout detection to set the layout properly. - Reset keyboard-configuration/toggle to the default if it's set to No toggling and you select a non-Latin layout. - Automatically save the font and keymap to /etc in /etc/init.d/console-setup if it isn't being run from init. Similarly, ensure that the font and keymap are saved to /etc during initial installation. - Replace usplash detection code with Plymouth detection code. - Load the new keyboard configuration immediately when running 'dpkg-reconfigure keyboard-configuration' in an installed system. - Don't fail to configure keyboard-configuration if setxkbmap fails to talk to the X display. - Tolerate absence of setupcon in keyboard-configuration.postinst. - Drop the simplified keyboard-configuration/xkb-keymap question. - Fix command injection in ckbcomp. - debian/console-setup.console-font.upstart: Add Upstart job that sets up console font when plymouth-splash is starting. - Override description of the ch layout from German (Switzerland) to just Switzerland. - Map ppc64el/* to XKBMODEL=pc105. * Dropped changes, included in Debian:

[Bug 1426766] [NEW] lxinput shows mouse as left handed but functoins as right handed in nonlxde environments
Public bug reported: To reproduce log into a non lxde environment like openbox or i3 and set left handed mouse in lxinput it will switch the mouse buttons but only for this session. Then logout and log back in. The mouse will return to being a normal right handed mouse with primary click on left button and secondary on right button, Open lxinput and the checkbox for left handed will still be checked. lxinput: Installed: 0.3.4-1 Candidate: 0.3.4-1 Version table: *** 0.3.4-1 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ vivid/universe amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status i3: Installed: 4.8-2 Candidate: 4.8-2 Version table: *** 4.8-2 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ vivid/universe amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status openbox: Installed: 3.5.2-8 Candidate: 3.5.2-8 Version table: *** 3.5.2-8 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ vivid/universe amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status I expeceted the checkbox in lxinput to show for left handed mouse if and only if the the mouse buttons were swapped. However if you exit the session with left handed mouse lxinput will show the checkbox but buttons will not be swapped. A workaround is unchecking the checkbox and then hitting ok and then opening lxinput again and clicking left handed will get you back for the rest of the session. [Bug 1426782] [NEW] Boot fails with encyprted BTRFS RAID1 array - open ctree failed
You have been subscribed to a public bug: I have recently installed Linux Mint 17.1 into a system with three drives - 1 SSD containing the / partition (btrfs format), and 2 identical HDD's containing /home in an encrypted BTRFS RAID1 array. The system will not boot without manual intervention, using either the recommended 3.13.0-37 kernel or the most up to date 3.16.0-31 kernel. At about the same time that I am prompted to enter my password to unlock the drive, I am prompted that a mount has failed. If I press M to enter manual recovery I see the emergency shell. Then all I have to do is exit (Ctrl+D) to continue booting and everything works normally. It appears that a similar (maybe the same) bug was reported on ArchWiki: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Btrfs#BTRFS:_open_ctree_failed I also experienced this bug on OpenSUSE 13.2 and filed a bug report there: https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=912170 On a possibly related note, I am getting TWO password prompts even though both encrypted volumes use the same password. On OpenSUSE only one password was required. My understanding is that as soon as you suppy one password it is supposed to be tried on each volume in /etc/crypttab. I will now try the fix that worked for me on OpenSUSE (see bug report) copy /usr/lib/udev/rules.d/64-btrfs.rules into /etc/udev/rules.d/64-btrfs.rules and replace the following two lines ENV{DM_NAME}==, IMPORT{builtin}=btrfs ready $devnode ENV{DM_NAME}==?*, IMPORT{builtin}=btrfs ready /dev/mapper/$env{DM_NAME} with single one IMPORT{builtin}=btrfs ready $devnode and report back what happens. [Bug 1310270] Re: cannot use screen command at boot
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 574773 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/574773 Sorry if this is not appropriate but I have the exact same problem. I just added /etc/init.d/minecraft start to /etc/rc.local Not ideal, but a workaround none the less is better than having upset customers. We were told in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/screen/+bug/574773 to start a new bug, and this shows confirmed but its been a while, and I know my 12.04 system did not have this behavior. I'd be happy to provide logs and the script contents if needed. [Bug 1426768] [NEW] ubiquity installer has no window decoration on my desktop and keyboard shorcuts do not work
Public bug reported: To reproduce boot the lubuntu amd640228 iso from a usb stick and select it from the boot menu select install from the menu. ubiquite will start without a decorated title bar and have no shortcuts work to switch window if you for example click on the relase notes link in ubiquity ubiquity: Installed: 2.21.13 Candidate: 2.21.13 Version table: *** 2.21.13 0 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ vivid/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status https://gist.github.com/56618cd1ed68e5b63a0c is the hardware profile from the iso tracker. I expected ubiquity to have window decoratoins like it does on my laptop or in a vm for lubuntu. Instead there are noen and navigating mutliple windows like the realease notes is really awkward. And the installer still seems to function just window managment isn't right when selecting isntall from the menu.
