[Bug 1137630] Re: Emojis are not shown in ubuntu applications (and phone)
Adding Emoji to the Ubuntu font is bug 820034. That isn't necessarily a good idea. However, the problem of Emojis are not shown in Ubuntu … phone” could be solved in many other ways -- for example, by shipping Symbola or Noto. [Bug 1427672] Re: System doesn't power off when shutting down
So the journal goes to the bitter end when it's supposed to turn off the computer, so nothing really useful there. I have no immediate idea here, just perhaps some debugging tips. I also noticed that sometimes shutting down causes the screen to freeze/go black, I attributed that to a graphics driver bug when shutting down lightdm/X.org (I sometimes get a similar effect when switching users). Does this also happen if you switch to a VT before shutting down? You can use sudo systemctl poweroff, or sudo poweroff (should be by and large the same). Another thing is, perhaps it shows some more things if you boot with debug? that'll activate kernel debug messages too. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1427672 Title: System doesn't power off when shutting down To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1427672/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1160731] Re: [System Product Name, ATI RS690/780 HDMI, Digital Out, HDMI] No sound at all
This is fixed in the upstream 3.13 kernel. The radeon.audio=1 kernel boot option is no longer necessary with this kernel. Instead, HDMI audio on ATI/AMD Radeon cards can be enabled and disabled on the fly by typing the following in a terminal window: xrandr --output HDMI-0 --set audio on or xrandr --output HDMI-0 --set audio off If your HDMI port is numbered differently (type xrandr to check) - you might need to change HDMI-0 in the above command to HDMI-1 or HDMI-2. [Bug 1428196] [NEW] octave does not plot anything
Public bug reported: GNU Octave, version 3.8.1, Ubuntu 14.04 gnuplot (Version 4.6 patchlevel 4, last modified 2013-10-02, Build System: Linux x86_64) OS: Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS, Release:14.04 package: octave: Installed: 3.8.1-1ubuntu1 gnuplot: Installed: 4.6.4-2 sample output: octave:1 plot(rand(10)) libGL error: failed to load driver: swrast octave:2 I am running octave on a vnc4server headless system (a data processing server, AMD 64-bit CPU) with a freshly installed system. I am using the XFCE4 desktop environment launched vnc4server. Whenever I try to create a plot (or directly write the plot data into files with the print() function) I am getting this error message. I can, however, run gnuplot alone, I can see the plot window and I can generate plots. Octave 3.8 also prints the plot to a graphics file, e.g. in SVG format. But this file is completely white. Likewise, the plot window is displayed, but it remains white. I have just migrated from an ubuntu 12.04 platform to 14.04, and have kept the old computer (same type, 64-bit CPU). There, octave 3.2 produces the expected plots. 1) Is there another way to generate plots in octave into files (e.g. svg) that are not affected by this (seemingly graphics driver) problem? 2) How could this be fixed for headless systems running a vnc server without using the physical graphics card output? Did anyone else notice this? Public bug reported: I'm using a fresh install of Xubuntu 14.04 (Description: Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS \ Release: 14.04) with latest updates on a Samsung NP305U1A-A05CO laptop (AMD E450 with Radeon HD 6320 Graphics) After the computer is suspended, either by closing the lid, choosing the option on the menu or by itself after the defined time, and then when I wake the computer the mouse pointer is invisible, however the hardware itself is working as mouse position and clicks continue working, only the pointer is invisible. [Bug 1424119] Re: Edit Connections...now insensitive by default in network manager's menu
I looked a while and could not find this bug before reporting mine. I would not have at all if Michael Pardee did not point it out. So I will include my report and work around from 142780. On Ubuntu 12.04 only. (Does not happen on 14.04) After upgrading the network-manager-gnome packages (includes libnm-gtk0 libnm-gtk-common) from 0.9.4.1-0ubuntu2.3 to 0.9.4.1-0ubuntu2.4 Disconnect, Edit and under VPN Connections Configure VPN and Disconnect VPN are greyed out and unelectable. You can no longer change passwords for VPN or WiFi, or define new static IP configurations. As 0.9.4.1-0ubuntu2.3 is no longer available in the repos, I had to roll back to 0.9.4.1-0ubuntu2, which meant rolling back Unity Greeter as well. This was initially found on my desktop, but replicated in a VM I had with 0.9.4.1-0ubuntu2.3 still running. Going directly to 0.9.4.1-0ubuntu2.4 still gives the same problem. This has also been reported on Ubuntu Forums. http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2266443 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1424119 Title: Edit Connections...now insensitive by default in network manager's menu To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager-applet/+bug/1424119/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1425760] Re: NM takes a long time to discover and connect to wifi after suspend/resume and roaming
Do you remember which network you were suspending on at that point? I see some fairly old scan results, but nothing extraordinary (4, 14, 24 seconds, which seems consistent with NM's scanning thresholds). Still, the timing is such that there may have been a scan request or an automatic scan by the driver before the command was run. Could you attach a full syslog (or at least, containing kernel, wpasupplicant and NetworkManager messages) so that we know whether wpasupplicant has received scan results and when? For lack of better options right now, it looks like this might just be stale scan results from the driver, but I'm also not noticing this kind of behavior on my very similar system. ** Changed in: network-manager (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete ** Changed in: network-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = High -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1425760 Title: NM takes a long time to discover and connect to wifi after suspend/resume and roaming To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/1425760/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1301843] Re: Terminator window shrinks while trying to reduce font size with CTRL - in split window
Hi, Terminator maintainer here. This is another occurrence of a common bug in Terminator. It's connected with the window geometry hints as suggested by #6. It seems like the geometry hints and the window manager get in an argument over how big the window should be, and they each start adjusting the size, causing the incredible shrinking windows. There's a number of bugs previously raised against the Terminator project in Launchpad (i.e. lp:1246078 and lp:1361252) Simplest fix is to deactivate the geometry hints. I didn't write this bit of the code, and I've not yet figured out the proper fix. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1301843 Title: Terminator window shrinks while trying to reduce font size with CTRL - in split window To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/terminator/+bug/1301843/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

cmdtest: - It would be nice if this were python3 in this day and age. But since cmdtest and its friends won't actually be on the desktop CD, it's OK. - Needs team bug subscriber - Its tests should be run. You can do this like so: override_dh_auto_test: ifeq (,$(filter nocheck,$(DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS))) python setup.py check endif But be warned... The CoverageTestRunner check needs python-coverage- test-runner added to the build-deps and even then it will fail because it finds fault with files found in the build/ directory... [Bug 1428167] Re: ftp does close connection on copy
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers of the software by following the instructions at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. If you have done so, please tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a bugwatch that will inform us about its status. [Bug 1427133] Re: Build and validate click package button disabled without explanation
Once we arrive to the converged world where desktop Ubuntu will support .click packaged applications the Build and validate click package will be enabled even for Desktop target. The package creation is target specific. If the target is i386 emulator then the i386 chroot is used for package build, for an armhf device obviously the armhf click chroot is used for package creation. So the target selection is a very important step in Running-Building- Packaging a project. Publishing I would consider as the last step of the application development. I would expect the developers to first get familiar with the Run function and that should put the developer on track about the importance of the selected target. But I am open for suggestion where and in what form should the IDE tell that this button is disabled because you have selected a target what does not yet support the .click package format Also, I would forward this bug to the relevant system component what is responsible to provide click support on desktop. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1427133 Title: Build and validate click package button disabled without explanation To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qtcreator-plugin-ubuntu/+bug/1427133/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1428214] [NEW] FF: 36 - last window (of 6): no context menu + long lag for mouse/keyboard navigation
Public bug reported: I do not know in which version this bug manifested. Until #36, I had been stuck using #28, as all subsequent versions crashed when first starting up (I had 9 or so windows with lots of tabs, but whether that was the issue I don't know - #28 had no problems with it, all that came after were VERY slow to start up, and then crashed. With #36, I cleaned things up - only 6 windows, and not so many tabs - it comes up rather quickly and does not crash, but...) All windows but the last work as expected. Links, when right-clicked in the last window, do not display a context menu, and nothing happens. I normally only use the menu to open a link in a new tab, or once in a while, a new window. I can still do this by holding down the control- or shift- key while left-clicking on the link (a keyboard shortcut I just discovered, on a guess, when I found I could not do it the normal way). Also, if I use the navigation keys (or scroll-bars), or scroll-wheel, there is a (sometimes very long) lag between when I try to navigate in that direction, and when FF actually does so. -- scott@scott-ASUS-M2N68-AM-PLUS:~$ uname -a Linux scott-ASUS-M2N68-AM-PLUS 3.16.0-31-generic #41-Ubuntu SMP Tue Feb 10 15:24:46 UTC 2015 i686 athlon i686 GNU/Linux scott@scott-ASUS-M2N68-AM-PLUS:~$ lsb_release -dsc Ubuntu 14.10 utopic scott@scott-ASUS-M2N68-AM-PLUS:~$ echo $DESKTOP_SESSION Lubuntu -Scott Jacobs ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.10 Package: firefox 36.0+build2-0ubuntu0.14.10.4 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.16.0-31.41-generic 3.16.7-ckt5 Uname: Linux 3.16.0-31-generic i686 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia AddonCompatCheckDisabled: False ApportVersion: 2.14.7-0ubuntu8.2 Architecture: i386 AudioDevicesInUse: USERPID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC0: scott 2077 F pulseaudio /dev/snd/controlC1: scott 2077 F pulseaudio BuildID: 20150224133811 CRDA: Error: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: 'iw' Channel: Unavailable CurrentDesktop: LXDE Date: Wed Mar 4 11:38:22 2015 DefaultProfileIncompatibleExtensions: English (South Africa) Language Pack - langpack-en...@firefox.mozilla.org English (GB) Language Pack - langpack-en...@firefox.mozilla.org Default - {972ce4c6-7e08-4474-a285-3208198ce6fd} DefaultProfilePrefSources: prefs.js ForcedLayersAccel: False IfupdownConfig: # interfaces(5) file used by ifup(8) and ifdown(8) auto lo iface lo inet loopback InstallationDate: Installed on 2014-11-01 (123 days ago) InstallationMedia: Lubuntu 14.10 Utopic Unicorn - Release i386 (20141022.1) IpRoute: default via 192.168.0.1 dev wlan0 proto static 192.168.0.0/24 dev wlan0 proto kernel scope link src 192.168.0.16 metric 9 MostRecentCrashID: bp-3bde6e14-6179-409d-a0c5-50d042150217 PciNetwork: Profile1IncompatibleExtensions: Global Menu Bar integration - globalm...@ubuntu.com English (South Africa) Language Pack - langpack-en...@firefox.mozilla.org English (GB) Language Pack - langpack-en...@firefox.mozilla.org Default - {972ce4c6-7e08-4474-a285-3208198ce6fd} Profile1PrefSources: prefs.js Profiles: Profile0 (Default) - LastVersion=36.0/20150224133811 (In use) Profile1 - LastVersion=28.0/20140410211157 (Out of date) RelatedPackageVersions: gecko-mediaplayer1.0.9-2ubuntu1 browser-plugin-gnash 0.8.11~git20140419-1ubuntu2 icedtea-7-plugin 1.5.2-1ubuntu2~14.10 RfKill: RunningIncompatibleAddons: True SourcePackage: firefox UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) dmi.bios.date: 06/10/2010 dmi.bios.vendor: American Megatrends Inc. dmi.bios.version: 1802 dmi.board.asset.tag: To Be Filled By O.E.M. dmi.board.name: M2N68-AM Plus dmi.board.vendor: ASUSTeK Computer INC. dmi.board.version: Rev X.0x dmi.chassis.asset.tag: Asset-1234567890 dmi.chassis.type: 3 dmi.chassis.vendor: Chassis Manufacture dmi.chassis.version: Chassis Version dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnAmericanMegatrendsInc.:bvr1802:bd06/10/2010:svnSystemmanufacturer:pnSystemProductName:pvrSystemVersion:rvnASUSTeKComputerINC.:rnM2N68-AMPlus:rvrRevX.0x:cvnChassisManufacture:ct3:cvrChassisVersion: dmi.product.name: System Product Name dmi.product.version: System Version dmi.sys.vendor: System manufacturer ** Affects: firefox (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug i386 utopic -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1428214 Title: FF: 36 - last window (of 6): no context menu + long lag for mouse/keyboard navigation To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/1428214/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 864735] Re: [ATI HDMI] HDMI Audio Disabled by Default (since oneiric)
Trusty 14.04 will get LTS updates with kernels from future Ubuntu releases. For example, Trusty 14.04 shipped with a 3.13-based kernel, while 14.04.2 has a 3.16-based kernel similar to the one in Utopic 14.10. I couldn't find a release date for 14.04.3, but they are currently targeting the kernel from 15.04 - see https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+milestone/ubuntu-14.04.3 15.04 will be released with a 3.19-based kernel, so to get the 4.0 kernel you will have to use the mainline kernel PPA I mentioned in comment #33. The final 4.0 kernel should be released in 6 or 7 weeks time. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/864735 Title: [ATI HDMI] HDMI Audio Disabled by Default (since oneiric) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/864735/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
