[Bug 1640547] Re: stress-ng based disk tests failing

2016-11-18 Thread Colin Ian King
It may be worthwhile running each test with a random tmp director, e.g.

TMPDIR=/tmp/disk_stress_ng_$(uuidgen) or
TMPDIR=/tmp/disk_stress_ng_$(cat /proc/sys/kernel/random/uuid)

and that way we don't trash previous test instance temp dir data

[Bug 1642966] Re: package cups-daemon 2.1.3-4 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess new pre-removal script returned error exit status 1

2016-11-18 Thread Till Kamppeter
The SRU for Xenial (bug 1598300) is a one-line patch removal on the CUPS
daemon, the problem observed here and in many other reports is on the
shutdown of the old CUPS daemon. So it seems that some independent
change, in a not yet known package, causes problems shutting down CUPS,
but the problem is revealed by the fact that an new CUPS version
(2.1.3-4ubuntu0.1 from the SRU bug 1598300) got uploaded and so all
users who have activated xenial-proposed get a CUPS update triggering
this problem.

[Bug 1642973] [NEW] DNS stops working when changing networks

2016-11-18 Thread gpothier
Public bug reported:

Since upgrading to 16.10 I am having frequent DNS failures. It usually happens
when I change networks and after resume from suspend, for example going to home
from work, or vice versa. When this happens, connectivity is fine (I can ping
8.8.8.8 for instance), but I cannot resolve names (eg. google.com).
Restarting network-manager instantaneously fixes the issue.

Curiously I have not found this bug on Launchpad. Here is some related
stuff I've seen:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/resolvconf/+bug/1640286
(as described, it seems specific to Chrome)

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/1592721
(DNS resolution issues with VPNs, but it looks like it has been solved; at
least I am not affected anymore)

http://askubuntu.com/questions/838948/16-10-fail-to-resolve-dns
(forum post that describes a similar issue, but again for VPNs)

[Bug 1642965] [NEW] Firefox crashes - Error loading theme icon

Firefox:
firefox 47.0+build3-0ubuntu0.16.04.1

Description:
Firefox crashes when trying to start it on the server and display on the local

Reproduction:
Login to the server: ssh -X lnxserver
Start firefox: firefox --no-remote

Error Message:
(firefox:39655): Gtk-WARNING **: Error loading theme icon 'list-add' for stock:

== Comment: #6 - Thorsten Diehl  - 2016-11-16

I can confirm this.

I installed Ubuntu 16.04.1 on s390x (z13 machine) and installed updates, then
x11-apps, which were working fine (xclock, xeyes).
I installed firefox and started it:
firefox --no-remote
it created tons of messages, all complaing about an unknown image format.
Any subsequent start does not create that many messages. But even with
--safe-mode I can't get it started:
root@s8330009:~# firefox --no-remote --safe-mode

(firefox:1487): Gtk-WARNING **: Locale not supported by C library.
Using the fallback 'C' locale.

Perhaps a graphics library (gtklib?) has a problem?

[Bug 1642989] [NEW] indicators should use 'com.canonical.indicators.link' type for Settings links

2016-11-18 Thread Charles Kerr
Public bug reported:

http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~unity-

has this code:

> -1) {
> // FIXME : At the moment, the indicators aren't using
> // com.canonical.indicators.link for settings menu. Need to fudge it.
>   return linkMenu;
> }

We should set the type of settings menuitems to
'com.canonical.indicators.link' so that this hack can be removed.

2016-11-18 Thread Till Kamppeter
This is not caused by xenial-proposed. xenial-proposed is version
2.1.3-4ubuntu0.1 and I got tons of reports on version 2.1.3-4 which is
before xenial-proposed. So the origin must be somewhere else.

And just for the record I'll add that in the week or so since I
installed the package from the -proposed repository I have had no
recurrence of either of the two symptoms (wrong window displayed on top,
all windows displayed behind desktop background) that I had previously
been encountering every day or two.

[Bug 1585863] Re: WiFi malfunction after suspend & resume stress - sudo wpa_cli scan required to fix it.

2016-11-18 Thread auspex
@JaSauders I think the downside is that restarting NetworkManager, on a
system that doesn't have any problem with network connections after a
suspend event (and that surely must be most systems, or this would be
fixed already) will result in a much slower reconnection to the network.

[Bug 1624925] Re: Lazarus Component anchordocking missing file

2016-11-18 Thread Paul Gevers
This bug was fixed in 1.6+dfsg-5:

lazarus (1.6+dfsg-5) unstable; urgency=medium

  * d/rules+control: replace bu:version by Build-Using as Ubuntu fails to
properly build otherwise
  * Prevent missing lpk files in components: temporary solution for
#823706
  * Bump compat level to 10
  * Rearrange target dependencies and move dh_install to binary target to
let --list-missing work better. Split install directories in d/rules
for arch/indep to prevent double installation of files which would
otherwise happen due to this rearrangement.
  * Simplify logic for lintian-overrides creation & installation
  * Add first debci test: build most *.lpk packages as shipped
  * Update d/copyright with a statement about the claimed license of
limacho.pas

[Bug 1585863] Re: WiFi malfunction after suspend & resume stress - sudo wpa_cli scan required to fix it.

2016-11-18 Thread Hans Deragon
@monte, I get the impression that you may suffer from more than one bug.
I have none of the symptoms you describe. I believe that this bug
report must remain focused on the resume issue. Any other issue should
be in another bug report (maybe already existing?).

In a sideline, sometimes I feel that the wifi scanning stopped or the
pause between scans are too long; takes forever for wifi hotspots to
show up. But again, that is another issue and we should not further
discuss this here.

[Bug 1636890] Re: invalid file times with overlayroot and encrypted home

2016-11-18 Thread Seth Forshee
I think I see what's going on. Ecryptfs copies up attributes from the
lower filesystem's inode directly. However the practice of overlayfs is
to only copy up i_uid, i_gid, and i_mode from the lower inode into the
overlayfs inode, and to fetch other attributes from the lower inode on
getattr.

The pattern I'm seeing is that inodes that overlayfs has "copied up"
from the lowerdir to the upperdir show up okay. I suspect then that it's
the vfs updating the timestamps in the overlayfs inodes whenever the
event happens that triggered the copy-up.

As this bug is in regards to the 32bit architecture, we would need the i386

[Bug 1637290] [grub2/trusty] possible regression found

2016-11-18 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
As a part of the Stable Release Updates quality process a search for
Launchpad bug reports using the version of grub2 from trusty-proposed
was performed and bug 1641567 was found. Please investigate this bug
report to ensure that a regression will not be created by this SRU. In
the event that this is not a regression remove the "verification-failed"
tag from this bug report and add the tag "bot-stop-nagging" to bug
1641567 (not this bug). Thanks!

[Bug 1614266] Re: Freeimage library does not write EXR files

2016-11-18 Thread Milos Hasan
Yes, it appears to be the same bug. It's the FIF_EXR constant that's
wrong.

A temporary workaround is to do this:

FREE_IMAGE_FORMAT exrFormat = FreeImage_GetFIFFromFilename("dummy.exr");

Then using exrFormat in place of FIF_EXR make the problem disappear.

[Bug 1643071] [NEW] Segmentation fault for EXTRASAMPLES

2016-11-18 Thread Lyuba
Public bug reported:

1) Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS
2) libtiff5-dev
3) Reading a tiff (RGB, 32 bits per pixel), the tiff has "extra samples" tag.
The next code should return number of extra samples:

uint16 m;
TIFFGetField(tif, TIFFTAG_EXTRASAMPLES, );

4) The above code gives "Segmentation fault" when reading this tag exactly,
other tags can be read.
An old 3.x version didn't have this issue, verified with the same file.

I'm confused about this bug reporting system. The software updater
announced software to install. I said go ahead and after a short time
the install failed, and I found myself hunting for my UBUNTU ONE
password so I could report the bug. This dialog opened and I may not
have responded intelligently. 20161118 ~17:05 EST

[Bug 1643077] [NEW] No easy way to see what has changed on your system

2016-11-18 Thread James Troup
Public bug reported:

It's not very easy to see what snaps have changed and when. dpkg
provides /var/log/dpkg.log and apt provides
/var/log/apt/{term,history}.log which combine to perform a very clear
picture of what packages were updated/installed on your system and
(for the most part) why.

By comparison 'snap changes' just tells me this:

186 Done2016-11-15T03:44:32Z 2016-11-15T03:44:32Z Refresh all
snaps in the system

Which isn't super helpful. I can dig into each change with 'snap
change $ID' but most of them are empty (presumably nothing to
refresh?).

Most problematic is that it seems to only store a certain amount of
changes with a pretty short horizon (~3 days).

** Affects: snapd (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 1638986] Re: cups/cups-browsed causing delay in shutdown (16.04)

2016-11-18 Thread Jan Gerrit
Hi Till,

don't know why, but if I stop cups-browsed and restart it (with the commands
below), all work fine.
~> sudo systemctl stop cups-browsed
~> nohup sudo /usr/sbin/cups-browsed --debug > `pwd`/cups-browsed.log 2>&1 &

If I restart it with
~> sudo systemctl stop cups-browsed
~> sudo systemctl start cups-browsed
I've the 90 seconds delay again.

[Bug 1643063] Re: unable to ifup vlan based interface with systemd persistent naming

2016-11-18 Thread Kevin Otte
This may need to be filed against the vlan package as
/etc/network/if-pre-up.d/vlan is owned by same.
It was my understanding, however, that vconfig was deprecated in favor of 'ip
link' as used in my workaround.

[Bug 1413827] Re: package samba-common 2:4.1.6+dfsg-1ubuntu2.14.04.4 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 10

2016-11-18 Thread edrZero
I used to have the same problem after manually installing spacenavd to
use with Freecad.

after that, I get the same error message any time I sudo apt-get update
or sudo apt-get install:

"insserv: warning: script 'S99spacenavd' missing LSB tags and overrides
insserv: warning: script 'spacenavd' missing LSB tags and overrides"

I order to solve the problem, I removed the file spacenavd from /etc/init.d/
and then
sudo apt-get clean and sudo apt-get autoremove and problem solved!!!

the same sheet, probably an error in paper size) and obviously an error occurs
and everything get blocked.
Unfortunately even if I unpublished and unshared the printer, the error
persist so now I can't print, I suspect that the Server is the guilty and I
wish to try to "Desconnect" the server to prove it, but I don't know how to do
it.

[Bug 1585863] Re: WiFi malfunction after suspend & resume stress - sudo wpa_cli scan required to fix it.

2016-11-18 Thread monte
@deragon Yes, you are right, there is related bug, see bug #1589401. But
I'm pretty sure this have one origin and it is wifi driver, especially
for intel cards. If you look at the bottom of the discussion on the
mentioned bug, you'll find that problem remains even after change to
another network manager, so it is deeper than it may look.

What is the command line you are using? Some backends are better than
others at recovery.

[Bug 1611074] Re: Reformatting of ephemeral drive fails on resize of Azure VM

2016-11-18 Thread Scott Moser
I've just uploaded this to zesty and to xenial-proposed.
The changes can be seen

https://git.launchpad.net/cloud-init/commit/?id=9e904bbc3336b96475bfd00fb3bf1262ae4de49f

There was also a change made to packaging so that on upgrade we will update
/etc/fstab
on the ephemeral disk to include
  x-systemd.requires=cloud-init.service,comment=cloudconfig

This fixes the upgrade, then resize case.
That change can be seen at

https://git.launchpad.net/cloud-init/commit/?h=ubuntu/devel=fac7c5c3b5758c03b3df40ce25849c73de1a8140
