Absotively Fantabulous! That's solved it for me too. I (original bug
poster) waited for two years to see this bug get fixed (or any answer to
my question) and I have a reward for you, either in USD cash via PayPal
or Bitcoin. Check your inbox, thank you again.

[Bug 1680904] Re: zesty unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference

2017-06-10 Thread Leonardo Müller
I am having this issue on Xubuntu Xenial with the linux-generic-
hwe-16.04-edge kernel. It happened once a long time ago, but now it is
happening again. This bug happens when the system is under load and more
graphical load is demanded. On my specific case, when my system is
already under some load and then I open a software which demands both
high video memory (shared memory) and RAM memory, as games can do, then
the system freezes.

I can see the memory usage increase while the software is loading, until
the system completely freezes. To reboot, the two options are a hard
reset or SysRq keys.

My computer is a Lenovo Ideapad 310, with a Intel Core i3-6100U, with a
Intel HD Graphics 520 graphical chip. It has 4 GB of RAM and, when the
bug happens, there is always heavy RAM usage. This bug never happened to
me without high RAM usage.

This bug is not easy to reproduce, but with some tries while the system
is under load it is possible to freeze the system.

Here is my log. I was watching a video on YouTube while I was chatting
in Discord, with Steam opened and was loading the game Robocraft.
Basically, heavy load. As the Robocraft loaded, it required both RAM and
video memory, which weren't plentiful due to the other software's usage.
Then it crashed.

[Bug 1632575] Re: systemd starts two copies of ntp at boot time

2017-06-10 Thread Marius Gedminas
No, I never saw this again.

The very next day after filing this bug I had another monitoring warning
about a stale ntpd pidfile, but this time there was no second ntpd
process running, and journalctl showed a simple conflict with ntpdate
during startup.

I apt-get removed ntpdate and never saw any more ntpd problems again on
this machine.

[Bug 1697156] [NEW] Screen locking issue - password entered for re-login is showing invalid. but the same after clicking on switch-account works

2017-06-10 Thread Saleem Ahmed Khan

Description:Ubuntu 14.04.5 LTS

No idea which package

3) What you expected to happen
After screen timeout the screen gets locked. When valid password is entered for
unlocking the screen it should have unlocked.

clicking on switch-accounts all the accounts are listed and selecting the
account that was locked and password is entered the screen unlocks.

If I lock screen with English layout then I could login in.

It seems language changer doesn't work on Unlock screen.

[Bug 1695908] Re: Ubuntu 16.04.2.LTS install in dual-boot with Windows10

2017-06-10 Thread d52fr
After several attempts to install Ubuntu from the same USB stick, I succeeded
doing so:
- downloading kubuntu-16.04.2-desktop-amd64.iso and burning a DVD-RW
- keeping the DVD in the player
- Stopping Windows but with the choice "Reboot" and pressing the Shift key all
along the closing process
- When a blue start screen "Choose an option" pops-up, choosing "Open a
peripherical device" then choosing "UEFI : DVD"
- installing Kubuntu with the standard process
- rebooting and discovering the GRUB menu with a choice between Ubuntu and
Windows Boot Record

Every thing is fine now.

I think the fix is not released in Ubuntu, yet. If the target apt

even in Artful, yet.

[Bug 1697159] [NEW] Installation of Ubuntu Mate 17.04 crashed due to EFI problems in Grub

2017-06-10 Thread Toscho
Public bug reported:

Today, my Ubuntu 17.04 Laptop didn't start because it couldn't anything
to boot (it still worked like charm yesterday). I tried to use boot-
repair from a Live-USB-Stick with Ubuntu 17.04. Boot-repair said
something about missing EFI-stuff and wanted to write it to the
beginning of the disk. Because I didn't know whether that was the place
of my /home-partition, I instead tried to reinstall Ubuntu leaving my
/home-partition as is and just formatting the /boot- and /-partition.
Installation asked my, whether I wanted to continue in EFI-Mode possibly
giving away the possibility to boot into existing BIOS-installation
(which don't work anyway at the moment). I said yes and after installing
for a while the installation process stopped telling me again, that the
EFI-stuff didn't work properly.

[Bug 1376970] Re: Segmentation fault when launching nam executable

2017-06-10 Thread gautam sahu
How to Install NS-2.35 in Ubuntu- 15.10 / 16.04 Step-by-Step

Refer : https://youtu.be/c5zjM5d7hMI
OR https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c5zjM5d7hMI=6s

Install NS2

First, check that the universe repository is enabled by inspecting
'/etc/apt/sources.list' with your favourite editor. You will need to use sudo
to ensure that you have permissions to edit the file.
1.)sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list
If universe is not included then modify the file so that it does.
2.)deb http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu wily main universe
After any changes you should run this command to update your system.
3.)sudo apt-get update
4.)sudo apt-get install ns2

Install Nam
5.)sudo apt-get purge nam
6.)wget --user-agent="Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.2; rv:2.0.1) Gecko/20100101
Firefox/4.0.1"
"http://technobytz.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/nam_1.14_amd64.zip;
7.)unzip nam_1.14_amd64.zip
8.)sudo dpkg -i nam_1.14_amd64.deb
9.)sudo apt-mark hold nam

If you are facing problem for nam then follow step from 5 to on-words.

[Bug 1697149] [NEW] KDE user-manager does not show all users

2017-06-10 Thread linex83
Public bug reported:

Running Kubuntu 17.04, I logged in, opened the start menu, typed "user"
and opened the "User Manager". There I created the user "overlord", set
the password, chose a user picture and marked the user as an
administrator. The following /etc/passwd entry was created:

overlord:x:1001:1001:overlord:/home/overlord:/bin/bash

Now when I open the User Manager, my new user overlord is not shown. He
has also the wrong picture, not the one that I've chosen when I created
the user.

[Bug 1697143] Re: GNOME Shell's Suspend feature is hidden in power menu

2017-06-10 Thread Jeremy Bicha
One tricky part about the GNOME Shell design is that there isn't really
room for another icon in the bottom row of the system status menu. See
the attached screenshot.

The second icon is a lock-rotation toggle switch for supported
convertible laptops with an orientation sensor.

(It's also been suggested that Log Out could be more prominent than
having to click your Name first.)

[Bug 1603620] Re: Package lists are not updated before Unattended upgrades runs automatically.

2017-06-10 Thread Julian Andres Klode
Released versions do not matter regarding the overall bug state. That
bug has been fixed in an update to xenial, yakkety, and zesty; which is
in the unapproved queue, but has a slightly annoying regression (and
that regression was fixed in 1.4.6). I should update the SRUs now, but
associating a new bug with that retroactively (changing a changelog
entry from months ago) looks a bit weird.

[Bug 1697208] [NEW] Installing karbon also installs calligrawords, calligrastage, and calligrasheets

2017-06-10 Thread PJSingh5000
Public bug reported:

I installed karbon, and calligrawords, calligrastage, and calligrasheets
were also installed.

All of these packages require calligra-libs as a dependency.

However, calligra-libs lists calligrawords, calligrastage, and
calligrasheets as dependencies.

This seems odd that the library (calligra-libs) depends on the
applications (calligrawords, calligrastage, and calligrasheets)?

Please check if this is an oversight in setting up the dependencies for
the deb package, or if these applications are actually needed by karbon
(and/or calligra-libs).

[Bug 1697221] [NEW] Wrapping for labels breaks words

2017-06-10 Thread PJSingh5000
Public bug reported:

Labels for some items in Gnome Control Center are too long to fit on a single
line.
As a result they must continue onto a second line.

ISSUE:

Labels do not break at work boundaries. Instead, they break in the middle of
words.
(See attached screenshot).

Examples:

Region & Lan
guage

Mouse & Touch
pad

EXPECTED BEHAVIOR:

Labels should break at work boundaries (i.e. spaces between words).

Examples:

Region &
Language

Mouse &
Touchpad

(If a word is too long and must break in the middle, then conventional
word hyphenation rules should be applied, or an exception may be made to
keep the code simple. This may occur if new items with very long names
are added to the control center in the future, or for accessibility
reasons where very large fonts are used).

ADDITIONAL INFO:

The font used in the screenshots is Liberation Sans Regular 10.
(However, the word wrapping behavior should be independent of the font and size
used).

[Bug 1697201] [NEW] snap find should allow searching non-stable channels

2017-06-10 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Public bug reported:

Many of the 'snap' command-line commands respect --beta or
--channel=beta (or --edge) but not 'snap find'.

This makes it more difficult for people to be able to test snaps that
haven't been pushed to stable yet.

It also makes it difficult for developers to know whether someone has
already started working on a snap for a particular app which could lead
to work being duplicated.
