[Bug 1699794] Re: FTBFS with OpenCV 3.1 in artful proposed

2017-09-11 Thread Steve Langasek
There doesn't appear to have been any progress on resolving this for
close to three months. I'm going to go ahead and remove the package
from artful-proposed so that it's not showing up on proposed-migration
as requiring action. If a fix becomes available and the Kubuntu team
wishes to reupload it, we can fast-track this through NEW again based on
the past package history.

Removing packages from artful-proposed:
simon 0.4.1-0ubuntu11 in artful
Comment: Ubuntu-only package, FTBFS with current toolchain; LP: #1699794
1 package successfully removed.

[Bug 1715722] Re: Allow safe override of GDM3 theme

2017-09-11 Thread Didier Roche
Thanks for reporting the bug upstream! I tried to add some more context
to the upstream bug report from our vendor perspective.

The fix looks good, thanks! I'm currently testing it more. Also, I'm
adding gnome-session to it: we can provide the same experience for
people wanting to go really full GNOME and installing gnome-session. The
priority though is lower than ubuntu's default, ofc.

I'll give it a little bit more test (I just modified slightly your
description) and will sponsor it, thanks again!

[Bug 1716354] [NEW] Missing dependencies in libpdfbox-java

2017-09-11 Thread Yury Zavarin
Public bug reported:

Hi,

There is a couple of missing dependencies for libpdfbox-java in Ubuntu
16.04.

tadam@ubuntuvm:~$ lsb_release -a
No LSB modules are available.
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description:Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS
Release:16.04
Codename:   xenial

tadam@ubuntuvm:~$ apt-cache policy libpdfbox-java
libpdfbox-java:
  Installed: 1:1.8.11+dfsg-1
  Candidate: 1:1.8.11+dfsg-1
  Version table:
 *** 1:1.8.11+dfsg-1 500
500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial/universe amd64 Packages
500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial/universe i386 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

tadam@ubuntuvm:~$ apt-cache show libpdfbox-java | grep Depends
Depends: libfontbox-java

If you check the POM file for pdfbox
https://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/pkg-java/libpdfbox-java.git/tree/pdfbox/pom.xml,
 then you can see that two additional dependencies should be provided for this
package:
- libjempbox-java
- libcommons-logging-java
The rest of the dependencies are marked as optional, so probably it's OK that
they are not provided.

libfontbox-java misses libcommons-logging-java dependency as well.

[Bug 1587142] Re: Shutdown hangs in md kworker after "Reached target Shutdown."

2017-09-11 Thread Dr. Thomas Orgis
So I got a simple fix for being able to reboot again:

```
udpate-rc.d mdadm disable
```

With that, the mdmon instance from the initrd persists (with @sbin/mdmon
as argv[0]) and is not killed by systemd. So systemd-reboot does not
hang. But: Since mdmon is not killed at all now, the array always gets a
fresh resync on each boot.

We really, really need to implement the return-to-initrd practice to be
able to bring the system down in the proper reverse order of bringing it
up.

(So initrd filesystem has to be kept in memory for the whole time …
wasting some memory with the huge initrds of today's time. It would also
be nice if mdmon was just part of the kernel as it should be.)

[Bug 1716063] Re: libvirt manager configured dhcpv6 network does not appear to sned domain

2017-09-11 Thread ChristianEhrhardt
I set up three Artful VMs:
1. one with a dnsmasq in it.
2. the other one to correctly remote request from it
2. the other one to correctly remote request from it (but via dhcpcd instead of
isc-dhcp)
3. Added an extra separate virtual network without dhcp from the host where all
those guests can reach each other

Guest:

Network definition:

noextdhcp

This gave me an unconfigured and also otherwise bare "ens7" device in all three
guests.
The main guest got a static ipv6 set up like:
 auto ens7
 iface ens7 inet6 static
 address 2607:f0d0:2001:000a::::0010
 netmask 64
 gateway 2607:f0d0:2001:000a::::0001
 iface ens7 inet static
 address 10.4.0.1
 netmask 255.0.0.0
 gateway 10.4.0.1

Which gives:
$ ip -6 address show ens7
3: ens7:  mtu 1500 state UP qlen 1000
inet6 2607:f0d0:2001:a::10/64 scope global
   valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever
inet6 fe80::5054:ff:fef1:a702/64 scope link
   valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever

The dnsmasq config I tried is:
interface=ens7
no-resolv
# uplink dns by host libvirt
server=192.168.122.1
# basic setup
bogus-priv
enable-ra
dhcp-range=::100,::1ff,constructor:ens7
dhcp-authoritative
# define domain as test1
local=/test1/
domain=test1
dhcp-fqdn
# enable logging
log-queries
log-dhcp

# killing old lease
$ sudo dhcpcd5 --release ens7; sudo dhcpcd5 --exit ens7; sudo kill $(pidof
dhcpcd5); sudo rm /var/lib/dhcpcd5/dhcpcd-ens7.lease6
# refresh
$ sudo dhcpcd5 -d ens7 --ipv6only

The same with dhclient now:
# release old lease
sudo dhclient -6 -r ens7
# get a new ipv6 one
sudo dhclient -6 -v ens7

Now what I see as difference between the two clients
# dhclient:
sent size: 14 option:  1 client-id  00:01:00:01:21:49:07:75:52:54:00:8e:c2:c6

sent size: 16 option: 23 dns-server  2607:f0d0:2001:a::10
sent size: 32 option: 39 FQDN  artful-dnsmasqv6-client.test1

Checking what the leases contain this is the same, the dhcpcd lease has the
domain name as FQDN, but dhclient holds nothing it seems.
# dhclient
$ sudo cat /var/lib/dhcp/dhclient6.leases  | grep test1
# dhcpcd
$ sudo dhcpcd5 --dumplease ens7 --ipv6only | grep test1
dhcp6_fqdn='artful-dnsmasqv6-client.test1'

But there is no real "Domain name" option being passed.

I cross checked by setting the server and clients for ipv4 and otherwise doing
the same.
There I see the domain-name being passed:
# dhcdpcd
sent size:  5 option: 15 domain-name  test1
# dhclient
sent size:  5 option: 15 domain-name  test1

So far all this is without libvirt, which means we can mark that part of the
tasks invalid.
I thought I found an option in [1], but "dhcp-option=option6:domain-name"
doesn't exist.
I found that dnsmasq lists what it thinks it can pass.

$ dnsmasq --help dhcp6 | grep -i domain
 21 sip-server-domain
 24 domain-search
 29 nis-domain
 30 nis+-domain
$ dnsmasq --help dhcp | grep -i domain
 15 domain-name
 40 nis-domain
 64 nis+-domain
119 domain-search

See that there is no domain-name in the dhcp6 case.

Trying to further limit the packages we have to search by changing from dnsmasq
to isc-dhcp-server.
$ cat /etc/dhcp/dhcpd.conf | grep -v '^#'
option domain-name "test1.org";
option domain-name-servers ns1.test1.org, ns2.test1.org;
default-lease-time 600;
max-lease-time 7200;
ddns-update-style none;
subnet 10.4.0.0 netmask 255.255.0.0 {
  range 10.4.0.100 10.4.0.254;
}

$ cat /etc/dhcp/dhcpd6.conf | grep -v '^#'
default-lease-time 2592000;
preferred-lifetime 604800;
option dhcp-renewal-time 3600;
option dhcp-rebinding-time 7200;
allow leasequery;
option dhcp6.domain-search "test.test1.com","test1.com";
option dhcp6.info-refresh-time 21600;
subnet6 2607:f0d0:2001:a::/64 {
range6 2607:f0d0:2001:a::100 2607:f0d0:2001:a::1ff;
}

With that in place we have two things to realize:
1. no domain-name config for dhcpd6.conf available
2. clients get domain-name only on ipv4 requests/leases

Maybe dhclient has to ask for the option(s) explicitly? I really struggle (not
a dhcp expert) is it even meant to pass domain-name in ipv6 - I don't know?
I'd almost assume ipv6-dhcp has no domain-name attribute/option?
I Can't see more yet, maybe you can share your dnmasq.conf as well and maybe

[Bug 1716359] Re: Unplugging headset with audio panel open mutes internal mic

2017-09-11 Thread Will Cooke
I've tried to reproduce this bug on a couple of machines.

On Xenial, on a Thinkpad X270 - I don't have access to the "Internal
Mic" when a headset is attached. Only a single mic is shown, and when I
unplug a headset the volumes are correct.

On an Artful running GNOME Shell on a Dell Inspiron 11 - I do have
access to the internal mic while a headset is attached, but adjusting
the volumes as described does not recreate this bug.

Seems that it might be hardware dependent as well as a potential u-c-c
issue?

[Bug 1716028] Re: qemu 2.10 locks images with no feature flag

2017-09-11 Thread ChristianEhrhardt
Added a qemu task, this seems to be a use case affected by the file locking.
In particular a (formerly working) case for multipath tests that use the same
image files multiple times intentionally.

So far the workaround is to set file.locking=off for all these, which might be
just the right thing to do.
But then as outlined by the reporter there currently is no way to query if file
locking is supported, nor if it is the current default - so at least adding
that might be required to be added in qemu.

[Bug 1716359] Re: Unplugging headset with audio panel open mutes internal mic

2017-09-11 Thread Hui Wang
BTW, If you plug a headset into a Dell laptop, and a "Unknown Audio
Device" dialog (unity-settings-daemon/plugins/media-keys/what-did-you-
plug-in) pops up immediately, this means there are headset-mic and
headphone-mic on this machine, then you can reproduce this problem on
this machine.

[Bug 1393175] Re: atop floods /run partition (causes no DNS server problem)

2017-09-11 Thread urraca
This affects us as well.

The issue is caused by this patch (AFAICT):
https://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/collab-maint/atop.git/tree/debian/patches/var-run?h=wheezy
or
https://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/collab-maint/atop.git/tree/debian/patches/var-run?h=master
respectively (look for ACCTDIR).

Note that I doubt the original decision to put the accounting file in
/tmp as well (ran out of /tmp-space a few times in the past on very busy
servers), but a RAM-disk is certainly a bad place to keep it!

Why not make it /var/tmp, which usually has plenty of space and is
reviewed by admins on a regular base anyway?

[Bug 1716357] [NEW] a typo in evince-previewer.desktop breaks /etc/mailcap

2017-09-11 Thread Esko Järnfors
Public bug reported:

Release version: Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS
Package version: 3.18.2-1ubuntu4.1

/usr/share/applications/evince-previewer.desktop comes from the evince
package. It has an empty entry in mime types between application/x-ext-
cb7 and application/oxps.

===8<===
...
MimeType=application/pdf;application/x-bzpdf;application/x-gzpdf;application/x-xzpdf;application/x-ext-pdf;application/postscript;application/x-bzpostscript;application/x-gzpostscript;image/x-eps;image/x-bzeps;image/x-gzeps;application/x-ext-ps;application/x-ext-eps;application/x-dvi;application/x-bzdvi;application/x-gzdvi;application/x-ext-dvi;image/vnd.djvu;application/x-ext-djv;application/x-ext-djvu;image/tiff;application/x-cbr;application/x-cbz;application/x-cb7;application/x-ext-cbr;application/x-ext-cbz;application/x-ext-cb7;;application/oxps;application/vnd.ms-xpsdocument;
...
===>8===

This entry gets included in /etc/mailcap via update-mime trigger from
the package mime-support and the result is a broken line:

===8<===
...
application/x-ext-cb7; evince-previewer %s; test=test -n "$DISPLAY"
; evince-previewer %s; test=test -n "$DISPLAY"
application/oxps; evince-previewer %s; test=test -n "$DISPLAY"
...
===>8===

Some programs that use /etc/mailcap get confused by the broken line so
it would be nice if the typo it originates from was fixed.

The expected result in /etc/mailcap from running update-mime:
===8<===
...
application/x-ext-cb7; evince-previewer %s; test=test -n "$DISPLAY"
application/oxps; evince-previewer %s; test=test -n "$DISPLAY"
...
===>8===

[Bug 1705157] Re: "Ubuntu" and "Ubuntu on Xorg" randomly start the same session (maybe Wayland maybe Xorg)

2017-09-11 Thread Iain Lane
I'm looking at the "first login gives the wrong session" bug. I can
reproduce in a VM that it says "Ubuntu" but you get "Ubuntu on X" (or
whatever the exact name is).

In this case GDM is using the "fallback" (default) session. It is set to
ubuntu-xorg despite ubuntu being valid, being the first in the list and
being selected in the UI. I think there might be a difference in sorting
between the UI's presentation of sessions and the selection of fallback
sessions - that's what I'm about to start investigating.

[Bug 1716361] [NEW] Printer Details Dialog Lacks Window Controls

2017-09-11 Thread Alan Diggs
Public bug reported:

Opening the Settings application, under the Devices tab, in the Printers
category, when selecting a printer and clicking the cog button to the
right of it, followed by clicking "Printer Details", will open a sub-
window/dialog that lacks window buttons to close the window. Note, this
does not occur when clicking the "Printing Options" option from that
dropdown.

[Bug 1716363] [NEW] snapcraft assign special meaning to version:git

2017-09-11 Thread Harald Sitter
Public bug reported:

A snapcraft.yaml with `version: git` has special meaning to snapcraft,
supposedly that the version should be picked from the git ref of the
repo clone where the snapcraft.yaml lives.

This results in failed snapcrafting when the directory is in fact not a
git clone at all

Determining the version from the project repo (version: git).
fatal: Not a git repository (or any of the parent directories): .git

This behavior entirely undocumented outside the crappy error after
building.

[Bug 1716160] Re: System goes to sleep with lid closed after login

2017-09-11 Thread Franck
Thanks @Daniel for the workaround, it does the trick.

Notice however, as I'm not sure I was clear enough, that the lid is
already closed when the session begins, it's not an event that happens
while the session has began.

Also notice it is a regression regarding the behaviour of Unity 7...

[Bug 1716341] [NEW] Settings for external monitor are delete after reboot, suspension, log out

2017-09-11 Thread Jeremie Tamburini
Public bug reported:

New Gnome Settings on Ubuntu 17.10

Settings for external monitor are working but after reboot/suspension
/log-out log-in, the system will not remember the setup.

Example:
1- open Gnome Settings and select "Devices → Displays"
2- set the external monitor as "Single Display" and click on "Apply"
3- log-out

After log-in the laptop monitor will be set as default instead of the
external monitor.

[Bug 1716028] Re: qemu 2.10 locks images with no feature flag

2017-09-11 Thread ChristianEhrhardt
Thanks Ryan for filing this bug, as I said in IRC all the file locking is
rather new and I think this is for upstream qemu to address.
Might just be a missed use case for them as well.

I'll be adding an upstream qemu task to get their attention.
@Rayn - It would be nice if - from the multipath tests - you could copy in here
a commandline that worked before but fails now.

[Bug 1716028] Re: qemu 2.10 locks images with no feature flag

2017-09-11 Thread Kevin Wolf
The correct way to query whether file locking is supported is 'query-
qmp-schema', which will expose the 'locking' option for the 'file'
branch of the 'blockdev-add' command then.

As a first comment, in your setup, completely disabling file locking is
probably a too big hammer. It is preferable to just allow multiple
writers on the same image by setting share-rw=on for the block device
(e.g. '-device virtio-blk-pci,drive=foo,share-rw=on'). This will allow
all guest devices to share the same image, but will still protect the
image against other users like an incorrect qemu-img invocation while
the VM is running.

However, note that opening the same image file twice is not the best
approach to the problem anyway. This happens to work with raw images
(except for the locking), but it would cause corruption for any other
image format.

The better solution (though it may require more changes to your
management application) is to open the image once and assign a node-name
to it, and then let two guest devices point to the same node. Like
above, this requires that share-rw=on be set for guest devices, but it
will also work with non-raw image formats because the image file is now
opened only once and the sharing is done internally in qemu.

An example command line fragment might look like this:

  -blockdev node-name=disk,driver=file,filename=hd.img
  -device virtio-blk,drive=disk,share-rw=on
  -device virtio-blk,drive=disk,share-rw=on

Technically, you can also keep using -drive instead of -blockdev, but it
will result in a mixed state of modern node-name based block device
management and the traditional drive based configuration, which might be
confusing at times.

[Bug 1338482] Re: Synaptic backend doesn't work in apturl

2017-09-11 Thread Vlad Orlov
So here's the fix for 17.10. Now Synaptic backend should work.

I've removed the part of debdiff with modifications to po/apturl.pot
file as it's not relevant to the issue.

[Bug 1576066] Re: 32bit glibc calls old socketcall() syscall, causing seccomp problems

2017-09-11 Thread Michael Vogt
Fwiw, this is longer working on zesty and newer:
"""
#include

#include

int main(int argc, char **argv) {
  int sys_num = seccomp_syscall_resolve_name("socket");
  printf("%d ", sys_num);
}
"""
returns -101 now. I think I know what is going on and will provide a patch
shortly.

Same here. The printer feature is OK after the driver install. The

[Bug 1716392] [NEW] icons for hplip-gui and dropbox are very small

2017-09-11 Thread Jamie Strandboge
Public bug reported:

I recently upgraded in 17.10 after not upgrading for a while and see
that application indicators are now in the upper right instead of in a
drawer in the lower left. This is nice, but the icons for hplip-gui and
dropbox are very small. Attached is a screenshot demonstrating the
issue.

[Bug 1716033] Please help test kernel in PPA for tpm-crb

2017-09-11 Thread Manoj Iyer
Jeff,

A test kernel with patches to enable tcm-crb is available for testing
in https://launchpad.net/~centriq-team/+archive/ubuntu/lp1716033-tpm/
This kernel has patches to enable tcm-crb for ARM64.

Could you please test this kernel and post test results here? Once we
get positive test results I can submit the patches for SRU.

Thanks
Manoj Iyer
