[Bug 1767542] Re: Turning off WiFi enables Airplane mode

2018-05-01 Thread Slavic Dragovtev
Also, isn't importance "low" a little understated for such a grave
issue? This does not look like production ready quality.

[Bug 1767899] Re: calamares installer crashes

2018-05-01 Thread Walter Lapchynski
Yeah #5 is not really a bug. It would be "nice" to have a better look,
but it's not necessarily a problem. I don't off hand know of a good
solution.

As far as the first bug is concerned, I've removed the cruft, but I'm
not clear how to reproduce this. If you could enumerate the steps to do
so, that would be great. Soemthing like:

 1. Boot with live image (include the version and such)
 2. Select (something) at the boot menu
 3. Click (something else) to load Calamares
 4. Select default options except for manual partitioning?

The parenthesis and question marks indicate areas where I'm particularly
confused about what you're doing.

[Bug 1768369] [NEW] Tabs don't close after saving changes

2018-05-01 Thread Trucoto
Public bug reported:

It began to fail after updating to Ubuntu 18.04. This reproduces the bug
on my side:

1) Edit p1.cc with the following text: "hello, world" (no quotes)
2) Edit p2.cc with the following text: "hello, world" (no quotes)
3) Meld them
4) Correct p2.cc with p1.cc's contents.
5) Control+W to close tab, it appears the "Save" dialog, save the changes

I expected the tab to be closed after saving, as usual, but the tab was
not closed, and cannot be closed afterwards neither with Control+W nor
closing the tab with the mouse. On console I have:

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/meld/meldwindow.py", line 436, in
on_menu_close_activate
page.on_delete_event()
  File "/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/meld/filediff.py", line 842, in
on_delete_event
del self._cached_match
AttributeError: _cached_match

Eventually tabs pile up and cannot be closed, except by closing Meld.

[Bug 1765726] Re: Optional dependencies are missing for Shutter in Ubuntu 18.04

2018-05-01 Thread Jonathan Kamens
Please add libgtk2-appindicator-perl to the list of packages not being
provided in Bionic that impact shutter. As described in Bug #1768032,
the lack of that package means that the shutter appindicator doesn't
work in Bionic.

[Bug 1758243] Re: bumblebee needs configuration changes to work with nvidia-driver-390 and libglvnd0

2018-05-01 Thread Rocko
@Juan: I should have suggested running just optirun glxinfo|grep 'server
glx vendor'!

Your logs show that bumblebee is working fine - the nvidia module loads
and the X server starts. I get the same nvidia-persistenced and error
loading the mouse module as you, but my 3D wine apps are working fine in
optirun.

I should have tried "optirun glxheads" like in your comment #6 first,
because I get the same BadMatch error as you when I try to run OpenGL
apps (the call to X_GLXSwapBuffers fails).

The comment from bluca here https://github.com/Bumblebee-
Project/Bumblebee/issues/951#issuecomment-385242063 suggests that it
might be a problem in libglvnd0, so we should open another bug for this.

[Bug 1768178] Re: color scheme Solarized Dark is incorrect

2018-05-01 Thread Egmont Koblinger
> I missed that background color scheme and palette scheme are dedicated
and selected only first scheme, but not palette scheme (was selected
Tango).

This is indeed misleading and we're thinking about changing the
behavior. Ideally you'd just select "Solarized dark" at one place, and
this would set the fg/bg and palette colors, and even disable the
aforementioned "show bold in bright". It's unclear though for us how
this could be done in a way that doesn't at the same time introduce a
usability regression for those who prefer traditional (non-solarized)
color schemes: they'd still want to select fg/bg and palette
independently from each other according to their personal preferences.

[Bug 1768345] [NEW] ifenslave fails to set xmit_hash_policy

2018-05-01 Thread Debabrata Banerjee
Public bug reported:

This bug is present in 16.04 as well as 18.04, including the upstream
version of ifenslave as far as I can tell. But as a formality let's
assume ifenslave-2.9ubuntu1

/etc/network/if-pre-up.d/ifenslave assumes xmit_hash_policy can be set
in any order, as below:

# xmit_hash_policy can be set anytime.
# Changing xmit_hash_policy requires $BOND_MASTER to be down.
sysfs_change_down xmit_hash_policy "$IF_BOND_XMIT_HASH_POLICY"

However, this comment is not true. For example when trying to create the
following in /etc/network/interfaces:

iface bond0 inet manual
bond-slaves none
bond-mode balance-tlb
bond-miimon 100
bond-xmit_hash_policy 1

Results in this error in dmesg on boot, since the mode balance-tlb is
set after xmit_hash_policy:

[ 15.210041] xmit_hash_policy param is irrelevant in mode load
balancing (round-robin)

The script should set xmit_hash_policy after setting mode.

An ugly workaround at the moment is to do:

iface bond0 inet manual
bond-slaves none
bond-miimon 100
pre-up /bin/echo 5 > /sys/class/net/bond0/bonding/mode; /bin/echo
1 > /sys/class/net/bond0/bonding/xmit_hash_policy

Regardless of how it works elsewhere, in Openbox it depends on the name

more flexible in other window managers. That said, I still need the

[Bug 1767784] Re: [regression] output device not recognized anymore since update 1:8.0-0ubuntu3.9

2018-05-01 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Another instance of this issue has been reported in bug 1768411.

** Description changed:

Since the update 1:8.0-0ubuntu3.8 to 1:8.0-0ubuntu3.9 , pulseaudio is
  not showing anymore my soundcard.
+
+ https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/1:8.0-0ubuntu3.9

The command "pacmd list-sinks" only shows a dummy output

When running on a fresh install of ubuntu 16.04, the sound is ok.
When updating the install with locking the following files to version
1:8.0-0ubuntu3 the sound keeps working:
  libpulse0:amd64
  libpulse-mainloop-glib0:amd64
  libpulse-dev:amd64
  pulseaudio-module-x11:amd64
  pulseaudio-module-bluetooth:amd64
  pulseaudio-utils:amd64

When updating to 1:8.0-0ubuntu3.9, I just get a "dummy output".

I tried running the following versions of Ubuntu (live usb), and get the same
issue (no need to update to get the problem)
  17.04
  17.10
  18.04

I attached the result of command "pactl list"
I have also generated logs during the boot but I don't know how to attach
multiple files

[Bug 1768422] [NEW] the dependency of kernel package should restrict expected version of linux-firmware

2018-05-01 Thread Alex Tu
Public bug reported:

Recently, we got a lesson learn from oem issues[1][2] that linux-
firmware should always be updated while update kernel package.

The root cause is some kernel update will expect linux-firmware be updated as
well.
Users who install new kernel manually could also encounter the same issue that
expected firmware is not there to feed new installed kernel.

There's a dependency for linux-firmware in linux-image-generic but not restrict
the version.
That means installing new kernel manually will not pull latest linux-firmware
as well.

Say, in [2] case, user's system have:
linux-firmware 1.157.4
linux-image 4.4.0-73

Then user install newer kernel by apt-get install, and he will encounter
the same error because the newer linux-firmware will not be installed as
well.

So for better user experience, the depends of each released linux-image
packages should be changed to something like
Depends: linux-firmware (>= 1.157.17)

or to make sure kernel could backward compatible if kernel package not
restrict it's linux-firmware dependency.

[1] LP: #1746155
[2] LP: #1764930 , comment #27

** Affects: linux (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

** Package changed: linphone (Ubuntu) => linux (Ubuntu)

[Bug 1661590] Re: GNOME Software only supports running one application from a snap

2018-05-01 Thread Robert Ancell
I also tried this in a VM which didn't have libreoffice installed - it
launched the welcome window, not libreoffice base. I suspect Simos
hadn't restarted GNOME Software (which is confusing, but the way is
works). Marking as verified.

[Bug 1751252] Re: [regression] ubiquity crashed in debconf.py:104 with ValueError: invalid literal for int() with base 10: ''

2018-05-01 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thanks @pjsingh5000. Your attachment shows the python stack ends at:

# There's still work to do (postinstall). Let's keep the user
# entertained.
self.start_slideshow()
Gtk.main()

Which agrees with what I see on screen when the bug occurs. It's the
slideshow that never starts (or does, as a blank black/white image).

After that there is no debug info from comment #22. Although my
attachment from comment #15 probably fills in the blanks:
https://launchpadlibrarian.net/368099559/dbg.txt

So it looks like the bug here is entirely in the C code.

[Bug 1768416] [NEW] ath9k_htc Reason: 3=DEAUTH_LEAVING

2018-05-01 Thread sles
Public bug reported:

After upgrade from 16.04 to 18.04 I can't use wifi.
It is ath9k_htc usb.

I got error Reason: 3=DEAUTH_LEAVING

I used workaround from

by-local-choice-reason-3-deauth-leaving-when-trying

ln -s /dev/null /etc/systemd/network/99-default.link

[Bug 1768384] [NEW] can't install onto disk with freenas installed

2018-05-01 Thread Micah
Public bug reported:

Server 18.04 LTS

Installing to USB drive that already has freenas 11.1-U4 installed.

Installer crashes and recommends filing bug on Launchpad. No visible way
to extract logs, only option was to close and reboot.

Dropping to shell, fdisk new partition map allowed installation to
proceed normally on next boot.

Unfortunately I didn't write down the error log output but I recall the
curtin package being unable to export a pool because it didn't exist.
Perhaps the name of the pool is hard coded in that script and it's
incorrect? And/or perhaps that step isn't necessary at all, if the user
has explicitly stated that overwriting the whole disk is what's desired,
why bother exporting the boot pool at all.

Let me know if I can help at all with this ,it was a new install of
FreeNAS with zero customization - was just testing a zfs receive.

[Bug 1767650] Re: Screen rotates upside-down when laptop is not flat

2018-05-01 Thread wastrel
I believe the accelerometer in this model is intended for "HP 3D
Driveguard" to park HDD drive heads to help protect the drive from fall
damage. So the sensor was probably not intended to reflect the
orientation of the screen.

I looked for a BIOS or firmware update on HPs site but didn't find any
that mention the accelerometer or orientation issues.

Some searches turn up people using Windows 10 finding the same upside-
down orientation problems on this hardware.

[Bug 1768340] Re: fscrypt does not work for home directory encryption

2018-05-01 Thread Trent Lloyd
It works for me with my workaround applied, however your groups get
messed up on login due to this bug:
https://github.com/google/fscrypt/issues/77

I've mostly gotten away with that being broken but it causes weird
issues, including problems with snaps as well as anything that needs a
group (virt-manager, wireshark, etc). And gnome-terminal is fine as a
terminal but other terminals are not because gnome-terminal runs under
the system-user session (using gnome-terminal-server) where as most
other terminals end up launched under the session context which has the
broken groups which means sudo is also broken in that case.

I am however using Xorg because of NVIDIA and not Wayland, I wonder if
that may have extra issues. Since your problems are display related.

You'd probably want to check "journalctl --user" as an initial log to
start with for clues.

In any case fscrypt is definitely broken out of the box, the groups
issue isn't fixed upstream but since your issue is fixed with upstream
fscrypt i'm not sure what issue you are running into.

[Bug 1768392] [NEW] confusing Description-en:

2018-05-01 Thread Seth Arnold
Public bug reported:

Hello, the description shown with apt-cache show cgroup-bin is
confusing:

Package: cgroup-bin
Description-en: control and monitor control groups (transitional package)
Package to ease upgrading from older cgroup-bin packages to the new
 cgroup-tools package.
 .
This package can be purged at anytime once the cgroup-bin package has been
 installed.

I believe it should say "once the cgroup-tools package has been installed".
But maybe the description is backwards?

Thanks

Sounds like it's not a kernel issue.

[Bug 1767676] Re: mariadb-common screws up mysqld execution

2018-05-01 Thread Faustin
Hi Artur, thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping
to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because
your description didn't include enough information. You may find it
helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures.

At a minimum, we need:
1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem.
2. The behavior you expected.
3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!
