[Bug 1802069] Re: test_095_kernel_symbols_missing_proc_self_stack failed with Xenial kernel
So the issue lies within the _read_twice() in test-kernel-security.py script. The first attempt to cat /proc/self/stack will return 0, as it's reading the file as root. The second attempt will failed with "permission denied" as we're not allowing regular user to access that file anymore. But the code in _read_twice() is still expecting it to return a zeroed-out content, like: $ cat /proc/self/stack [<>] save_stack_trace_tsk+0x22/0x40 [<>] proc_pid_stack+0xac/0x100 [<>] proc_single_show+0x55/0x90 [<>] seq_read+0xf2/0x3d0 [<>] __vfs_read+0x1b/0x40 [<>] vfs_read+0x86/0x130 [<>] SyS_read+0x55/0xc0 [<>] entry_SYSCALL_64_fastpath+0x22/0xc1 [<>] 0x Thus for 4.4 kernel, we can expect two different behaviour, one is the zeroed-out kernel address, another is the permission denied error. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1802069 Title: test_095_kernel_symbols_missing_proc_self_stack failed with Xenial kernel To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/qa-regression-testing/+bug/1802069/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1665151]
While not relating to the discussion of certain SSLProtocol and SSLCipherSuite combinations halting desired SSLProtocols, I did want to add that I had an issue where Let's Encrypt was holding my desired changes back. I was attempting to use the directive: `SSLProtocols -all +TLSv1.1 +TLSv1.2` but TLSv1 was still being used. Due to this bug report I noticed that one of my upper Virtual Hosts was indeed using a cert from LE, and in that file they had a default of SSLProtocol all -SSLv2 -SSLv3 If I could make a suggestion, it would be that we work towards getting more explicit control over what SSLProtocol directives get inherited. It seems strange that a file in a single Virtual Host reference would take precedence over global directives in both my ssl.conf and httpd.conf files. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1665151 Title: Apache ignores disable TLSv1.0 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/apache2/+bug/1665151/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1626070] Re: Removal of former release machine types breaks VMs using them
Hi Richud, while the bug here was a special case with the wily type being used in Xenial and therefore to be retained until the EOL of xenial has passed. It is different for other machine types like the ones you see issues with atm. Keeping the old types "almost forever" is a common habit as people just don't think about them usually. That has for several users caused much more pain later on. Therefore it is intended to (please choose your preferred word) hint/encourage/enforce users to finally upgrade machine types to pick up new features, stability and security fixes bound to new types only. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QemuKVMMigration#Support_Matrix Due to that the qemu in Ubuntu 18.10 dropped Zesty and Yakkety intentionally. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1626070 Title: Removal of former release machine types breaks VMs using them To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qemu/+bug/1626070/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1665151]
@Stefan Yes. I'm using Certbot to manage my LE Certs, and Certbot makes those configuration changes automatically. All I'm saying is it would be really useful to have a command / flag that would simply state what directives are taking precedence for configuration, because situations like this arise where some mysterious configuration I had forgotten about took precedence over a global httpd.conf directive. If I could just run a command and it says "SSLProtocol: Inherited from line 20 in .../httpd.conf" would be the simplest way to be forwardly agnostic about where or how the server get's configured.

[Bug 1802094] [NEW] Can not start Flashback session in 18.04 (Bionic) after update from 16.04 (Xenial)
Public bug reported: Users authenticate against LDAP. Was fine until I upgraded to Ubuntu 18.04. /home is nfs mounted. I've checked all logs I can find, syslog, auth, kern, lightdm, Xorg, .xsession-errors. My main suspect from auth.log is: lightdm: pam_systemd(lightdm:session): Failed to create session: Connection timed out There seems to be a 25 second timeout and if the session isn't ready it goes back to the login screen (here lightdm-greeter). Something else is bugging me: when a given session DOES let me login, after restarting lightdm for whatever reason, I won't be able to log back in. It's like the lightdm restart doesn't properly terminate, and some bad clues are left in the user's home folder so that the next try will end in a login loop. Reinstalling flashback with apt-get install --reinstall gnome-session-flashback didn't help. ~/.Xauthority is owned and writable by the owner. This has never been a problem. [Bug 1802073] Re: No network in AWS (EC-Classic) after stopping and starging instance
And little bit more testing. It really seems to be that cloud-init does not generate the file again if not run clout-init clean before. So it doesn't generate the file again after stop and macaddress differs and no network, and no network. Let's test it by editing the file by hand: $ cat /etc/netplan/50-cloud-init.yaml # This file is generated from information provided by # the datasource. Changes to it will not persist across an instance. # To disable cloud-init's network configuration capabilities, write a file # /etc/cloud/cloud.cfg.d/99-disable-network-config.cfg with the following: # network: {config: disabled} # EDITED network: version: 2 ethernets: eth0: dhcp4: true $ sudo cloud-init init $ cat /etc/netplan/50-cloud-init.yaml # This file is generated from information provided by # the datasource. Changes to it will not persist across an instance. # To disable cloud-init's network configuration capabilities, write a file # /etc/cloud/cloud.cfg.d/99-disable-network-config.cfg with the following: # network: {config: disabled} # EDITED network: version: 2 ethernets: eth0: dhcp4: true $ sudo cloud-init clean $ cat /etc/netplan/50-cloud-init.yaml # This file is generated from information provided by # the datasource. [Bug 1801898] Re: Only one of two external (displayport) displays is working without hotplug
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected ubuntu ** Description changed: After upgrading to Ubuntu 18.10 from Ubuntu 18.04, when logging in my one of my two external displays will not be activated without hotplugging the other external display. The display settings app shows the second display as inactive, and when trying to activate the settings app states that some hardware limitation stops it from being possible to apply the change. The laptop lid is closed, the internal laptop display is not active. Hotplugging the other external display solves the problem - after hotplug both external displays are active. This makes the bug annoying but workaroundable. I am not sure if this bug belongs to the Xorg package or the linux package. Hardware: Thinkpad t430s laptop sitting in a Thinkpad 4338 docking station, with two external displays connected through displayport (via docking station). $ sudo lspci -v 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 3rd Gen Core processor Graphics Controller (rev 09) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: Lenovo 3rd Gen Core processor Graphics Controller Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 29 Memory at f000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=4M] Memory at e000 (64-bit, prefetchable) [size=256M] I/O ports at 6000 [size=64] [virtual] Expansion ROM at 000c [disabled] [size=128K] Capabilities: [90] MSI: Enable+ Count=1/1 Maskable- 64bit- Capabilities: [d0] Power Management version 2 Capabilities: [a4] PCI Advanced Features Kernel driver in use: i915 Kernel modules: i915 $ apt-cache policy xorg xorg: Installed: 1:7.7+19ubuntu8 Candidate: 1:7.7+19ubuntu8 Version table: *** 1:7.7+19ubuntu8 500 500 http://se.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu cosmic/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status $ apt-cache policy linux-image-4.18.0-10-generic linux-image-4.18.0-10-generic: Installed: 4.18.0-10.11 Candidate: 4.18.0-10.11 Version table: *** 4.18.0-10.11 500 500 http://se.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu cosmic/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status $ lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 18.10 Release: 18.10 + --- + ProblemType: Bug + ApportVersion: 2.20.10-0ubuntu13 + Architecture: amd64 + CompizPlugins: No value set for `/apps/compiz-1/general/screen0/options/active_plugins' + CompositorRunning: None + CurrentDesktop: ubuntu:GNOME + DistUpgraded: 2018-10-24 10:23:47,912 DEBUG icon theme changed, re-reading + DistroCodename: cosmic + DistroRelease: Ubuntu 18.10 + DistroVariant: ubuntu + ExtraDebuggingInterest: Yes + GconfCompiz: + /apps/compiz-1/general: +/apps/compiz-1/general/screen0: + /apps/compiz-1/general/screen0/options: + hsize = 2 + vsize = 2 + GraphicsCard: + Intel Corporation 3rd Gen Core processor Graphics Controller [8086:0166] (rev 09) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) +Subsystem: Lenovo 3rd Gen Core processor Graphics Controller [17aa:21fb] + InstallationDate: Installed on 2016-06-06 (883 days ago) + InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 16.04 LTS "Xenial Xerus" - Release amd64 (20160420.1) + MachineType: LENOVO 2356FW4 + Package: xorg-server (not installed) + ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/vmlinuz-4.18.0-10-generic root=/dev/mapper/vg_avin-lv_root ro quiet splash vt.handoff=1 + ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.18.0-10.11-generic 4.18.12 + Tags: cosmic ubuntu + Uname: Linux 4.18.0-10-generic x86_64 + UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to cosmic on 2018-10-24 (14 days ago) + UserGroups: adm cdrom dialout dip lpadmin plugdev sambashare sudo wireshark + _MarkForUpload: True + dmi.bios.date: 09/27/2017 + dmi.bios.vendor: LENOVO + dmi.bios.version: G7ETA9WW (2.69 ) + dmi.board.asset.tag: Not Available + dmi.board.name: 2356FW4 + dmi.board.vendor: LENOVO + dmi.board.version: Not Defined + dmi.chassis.asset.tag: R9TW1K9 + dmi.chassis.type: 10 + dmi.chassis.vendor: LENOVO + dmi.chassis.version: Not Available + dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnLENOVO:bvrG7ETA9WW(2.69):bd09/27/2017:svnLENOVO:pn2356FW4:pvrThinkPadT430s:rvnLENOVO:rn2356FW4:rvrNotDefined:cvnLENOVO:ct10:cvrNotAvailable: + dmi.product.family: ThinkPad T430s + dmi.product.name: 2356FW4 + dmi.product.sku: LENOVO_MT_2356 + dmi.product.version: ThinkPad T430s + dmi.sys.vendor: LENOVO + version.compiz: compiz 1:0.9.13.1+18.10.20180930-0ubuntu1 + version.libdrm2: libdrm2 2.4.95-1 + version.libgl1-mesa-dri: libgl1-mesa-dri 18.2.2-0ubuntu1 + version.libgl1-mesa-glx: libgl1-mesa-glx 18.2.2-0ubuntu1 + version.xserver-xorg-core: xserver-xorg-core 2:1.20.1-3ubuntu2.1 + version.xserver-xorg-input-evdev: xserver-xorg-input-evdev 1:2.10.6-1 + version.xserver-xorg-video-ati: xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:18.1.0-1 + version.xserver-xorg-video-intel: xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.99.917+git20171229-1ubuntu1 + version.xserver-xorg-video-nouveau: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau 1:1.0.15-3 ** Attachment

[Bug 1286910] Re: Lock screen uses last active window's language instead of default keyboard language
Same for me on Ubuntu 18.04 and GNOME Shell 3.28.3. I've got 2 input methods on my machine, EN and RU. When locking the screen with last window's language set to RU, I cannot log back in as password input always uses RU language despite of the language toggler state in password modal. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1286910 Title: Lock screen uses last active window's language instead of default keyboard language To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gdm/+bug/1286910/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
