[Bug 1789252] Re: Lenovo V130-14IGM: Touchpad not working due to missing ACPI in kernel

2018-11-17 Thread Kevin Malon
I habe the same problem. Bought a new laptop yesterday and can't use it
good because of this bug. It is such a small change :( I tried to build
a kernel on my one without success. My laptop shows me ELAN0618 when i
type in "dmesg | grep -i elan".

It would be so nice if someone could fix this fast. Please developers.
It is a one line change which helps so many people

Re: [Bug 1801494] Re: dock missing

2018-11-17 Thread Philip Rego
I havn't had this error again since I reported it, but what your saying
makes sense. I'm pretty sure my screen was turned off as well and I have a
AMD RX580, and had to reboot a bunch of times when the system locks up (not
sure how related but hasnt happened in a while).

I tried turning on my computer with the screen off. The dock loaded but i
got this error

[Bug 1802375] Re: network printer OKI mc352 not working any more (after update?)

2018-11-17 Thread Helmut Raiger
After more web searching I found
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Avahi#Hostname_resolution, stating the
systemd-resolved does interfere with avahi mDNS ...
So I turned off systemd-resolved for a test and a pending job got printed
immediately.

This seems to be a conflict between systemd-resolved and avahi, I don't
fully understand the internals. Could someone please advise how to
proceed from here? Without systemd-resolved I have no DNS lookup and
with it I can't print ...

Ok, I disabled systemd-resolved on my machine, following ...

https://askubuntu.com/questions/907246/how-to-disable-systemd-resolved-

Network manager dns=default fixes the DNS lookup, which is now working
along with the printer. So this is actually no cups bug, but a DNS
problem.

[Bug 1803816] [NEW] Linux Kernel USB 3 drivers problem

2018-11-17 Thread Philippe
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I have a problem with USB 3 drivers in Linux Mint 19, this problem goes
back many months ... I pointed this out to Ubuntu maintainers (mint 19
depends on Ubuntu for that) without succes.

I explain to you:

I have a Asus X99E-WS motherboard (lasted bios) with USB 3.0 ports and one Asus
3.1 2 Port PCI-E Card type A.

https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/X99E_WS/specifications/

https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboard-
Accessories/USB_31_TYPEA_CARD/specifications/

When I connect the USB 3.1 card on my pc, under Linux only, the
connection of this USB sticks is difficult. The first USB stick 3
plugged in is generally recognized but when it was removed from the
system, the following keys conected is not recognized impossible to see
or mount !!

More bizare yet the USB keys 2 work perfectly !! ?? If I connect
directly to USB stick 3 to the Asus 3.1 2 PCI-E Card Type A, USB keys 3
are always recognized.

It looks like there is a conflict between the two ...

If I remove this USB 3.1 PCI-E card from my computer everything is
working normally. But as soon as I plug my Kington FCR-HS4 photo card
reader, the same problems start over again.

https://www.kingston.com/FR/flash/readers/FCR-HS4

The people of Ubuntu have never been able to solve this problem for more
than 3 years. I do not know who to ask to fix this problem.

Help me please, thank you by advance and best regards.

[Bug 870810] Re: Firefox 7.0.1 memory leak

2018-11-17 Thread Paul White
We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to review all
reported bugs in a timely manner. This bug was reported some time ago
and there have been many changes in Ubuntu and Firefox since that time.

Ubuntu 11.04 (natty) reached end-of-life on October 28, 2012.

We'd like to close this bug report due to its age and long period of
inactivity so please let us know if you still see a problem which is
related to the one that was reported in a currently supported version of
Ubuntu.

If we do not hear from you this bug report will expire in approximately
60 days time.

Thank you for helping make Ubuntu better.

2018-11-17 Thread Paul White
Smarteralec,

Thank you for reporting this bug to Ubuntu. We are sorry that we do not
always have the capacity to review all reported bugs in a timely manner.

Ubuntu 12.04 (precise) reached end-of-life on April 28, 2017.

[Bug 1803818] [NEW] Linux Kernel USB 3 drivers problem

2018-11-17 Thread Philippe
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I have a problem with USB 3 drivers in Linux Mint 19, this problem goes
back many months ... I pointed this out to Ubuntu maintainers (mint 19
depends on Ubuntu for that) without succes.

I explain to you:

I have a Asus X99E-WS motherboard (lasted bios) with USB 3.0 ports and
one Asus 3.1 2 Port PCI-E Card type A.

https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/X99E_WS/specifications/

https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboard-
Accessories/USB_31_TYPEA_CARD/specifications/

The people of Ubuntu have never been able to solve this problem for more
than 2 years. I do not know who to ask to fix this problem.

Hi have tested Debian 9.6 by Linux Mint LMDE 2 all run perfectly with
their kernet 4.9

Help me please, thank you by advance and best regards.

[Bug 1014479] Re: Not loading page in single attempt

2018-11-17 Thread Paul White
We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to review all
reported bugs in a timely manner. You reported this bug some time ago
and there have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time.

Ubuntu 12.04 (precise) reached end-of-life on April 28, 2017.

Do you still see a problem related to the one that you reported in a
currently supported version of Ubuntu?

Please let us know if you do otherwise this bug report will expire in
approximately 60 days time.

Thank you for helping make Ubuntu better.

[Bug 1803804] Re: Recommends: ssh-import-id missing in openssh 1:7.9p1-1

2018-11-17 Thread Jeremy Bicha
This bug was fixed in the package openssh - 1:7.9p1-4

---
openssh (1:7.9p1-4) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Fix Ubuntu detection in debian/rules, since the documentation comment
for dpkg_vendor_derives_from is wrong (thanks, Jeremy Bicha; see
#913816).

 -- Colin Watson Fri, 16 Nov 2018 11:27:28 +

openssh (1:7.9p1-3) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Be more specific about what files to install in openssh-tests, to avoid
installing a symlink into the build tree.
  * Re-export debian/upstream/signing-key.asc without extra signatures.
  * Restore direct test dependencies on openssl, putty-tools, and
python-twisted-conch; these are really only indirect dependencies via
openssh-tests, but including them means that this package will be
retested when they change.

 -- Colin Watson Thu, 15 Nov 2018 01:30:56 +

openssh (1:7.9p1-2) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Add GitLab CI configuration.
  * Make the autopkgtest create /run/sshd if it doesn't already exist.
  * Drop "set -x" verbosity from the autopkgtest; I think we can do without
this in most cases nowadays.
  * Add an openssh-tests binary package containing enough files to run the
upstream regression tests. This allows autopkgtest to run more
efficiently, as it doesn't have to build part of the source tree again.

OK, thanks for taking a look, I appreciate it.

I did look at the syslog but I don't see anything related to banf or the
docks, just some gtk theme warnings...

I did notice, however, that Quod Libet 4.1 is listed in the MATE dock
and Plank as "Quod Libet", while 4.2 is listed as " - Quod
Libet".

[Bug 1801494] Re: dock missing

2018-11-17 Thread Philip Rego
I havn't had this error again since I reported it, but what your saying
makes sense. I'm pretty sure my screen was turned off as well and I have
a AMD RX580, and had to reboot a bunch of times when the system locks up
(not sure how related but hasnt happened in a while).

"Please run 'gnome-tweaks' and try enabling the extension under
"Extensions"."
Ok

I tried turning on my computer with the screen off. The dock loaded but i got
this error

[Bug 1802574] Re: laptop screen never comes on after undock / sleep / open of laptop

2018-11-17 Thread Jonathan Kamens
OK, so, I've learned more about this.

If I wait for like 10-15 seconds after waking the laptop and type ctrl-
alt-f1, then after a long delay after that the screen will switch to the
GNOME login screen, and then if I select my account and type my
password, I am brought back to my previous session. But, there's
something weird about the state of things at that point. E.g., if I then
put the laptop to sleep and wake it back up again, the lock screen for
my session appears, but it won't accept any keyboard or mouse input. To
get back into my session I have to do the ctrl-alt-f1 trick again.

If I open the laptop while docked, wait for the built-in screen to
activate such that all three monitors are active, then undock and
suspend the laptop before gdm3 finishes reconfiguring so that only the
laptop screen is active, then I'm in the same boat as the original bug
report when I wake up the laptop, i.e., the screen remains black no
matter how long I wait, but if I wait a while after waking and then type
ctrl-alt-f1 I can proceed as in the previous paragraph.

If I open the laptop while docked, wait for the built-in screen to
activate such that all three monitors are active, undock, wait for gdm3
to finish reconfiguring so that only the laptop screen is active, _then_
suspend the laptop, then when I wake the laptop back up the screen does
come on.

In short, it appears that the problem is related to suspending the
computer when it is in the middle of reconfiguring what its active
screens are. It doesn't finish or restart that configuration when it
wakes up, so it remains in a weird, messed-up state.

At least, that's my best guess, given the data I've collected.

15GB of disk space (20GB recommended).
1024×768 resolution (on lower resolutions, press ALT to drag windows with the
mouse if they don’t fit in the screen).
Notes:

The 64-bit ISO can boot with BIOS or UEFI.
The 32-bit ISO can only boot with BIOS.
The 64-bit ISO is recommended for all modern computers (Almost all computers
sold since 2007 are equipped with 64-bit processors).

[Bug 1803268] Re: Ubuntu 18.10 after Blank Screen System Will NOT Unblank

2018-11-17 Thread Lawrence Houston
This was a clean installation of Xubuntu 18.10 on my Toshiba Satellite
C650 and the issue with the blanked screen NOT responding to Keystrokes
or Mouse Events was observed during Installation and has continued since
the clean installation!

With the Upstream Kernel I have the same problem with the blanked screen
NOT responding to Keystrokes or Mouse Events and as with the stock
kernel, my Laptop will unblank when I plug an External Monitor into the
Laptop's VGA Port!

With the Upstream Kernel there is NO /proc/version_signature, therefore
I include /proc/version

Linux version 4.20.0-042000rc2-generic (kernel@kathleen) (gcc version
8.2.0 (Ubuntu 8.2.0-9ubuntu1)) #201811121328 SMP Mon Nov 12 13:30:14 UTC
2018

I also tried an Ubuntu 18.10 Installation and curiously its blanked
screen correctly responds to Keystrokes and Mouse Events!

/proc/version_signature

Ubuntu 4.18.0-11.12-generic 4.18.12

Now that I know there is a difference between Xubuntu 18.10 and Ubuntu
18.10, I will await instructions on whether to complete the instructions
on Tagging the Upstream Kernel and the Bug being Confirmed...

[Bug 1803830] [NEW] Mouse pointer trailing and disturbing the content that the pointer "touches"

2018-11-17 Thread Josip Rajković
Public bug reported:

So , when i attached second monitor HPL1706 to my laptop HP 250 g5, my
mouse pointer started to leave trail that blinks. This trail disappears
when the mouse pointer hits the "quick select bar?" on the left side of
main screen, or when the pointer goes on the second monitor where it
continues to leave this trail.

Pointer also disturbs the content that it "hits" or it places small box
of the area it was moment before - like if i take a peace of puzzle,
copy it and place over some other peace of puzzle so that main picture
is not clear.

Right click also resets the bug.

Pointer disappears and re-appears if it's not moving but when it's not
visible, the trail is. This interval is around 1 second.

This affects my, already weak, PC performance.

1 time, when i logged into my account after being afk, this bug was not
present 100% until i tried to move sublime's window around the screen.

When i disconnect the second monitor, the bug is present but in much
smaller dose.

Every edit on this message (every letter i enter etc.) affects this bug
- it changes which pointers will be visible on the screen. Lets say
there is 10 pointers on screen - now its visible pointers 1,4,8 and when
i press a letter it changes to 2,5,9 etc. something like this. If there
is no action this change is automatic after approx. 1 second.

downgrading to 4.15.0-20-generic made it boot again. Attaching dmesg from that
