[Bug 1801383] Re: the WifiSyslog apport hook (used in firefox/tb) includes SSID informations

2019-09-19 Thread Marc Deslauriers
WifiSyslog does contain SSID information. While this will be removed
from the thunderbird and firefox packages, I don't think it would be
appropriate to remove it from the linux kernel apport reports.

For linux packages, this information is helpful in debugging wireless
driver issues.

While a list of access point information can be viewed as a privacy
issue, the user is prompted when Apport runs if the information is
suitable to be attached to the bug or not. In environments where there
are privacy concerns, the user can choose to not attach the information
when submitting the bug report.

I am therefore closing the Apport task for this bug. Thanks!

Created attachment 9037
Always set parent-relative background

I'm not sure it's helpful to not set a parent-relative background when
compositing is disabled, so I went for always enabling it.
This fixes the problem for me.

Please test the attached patch! Thanks

So no, it doesn't work.

[Bug 1844701] [NEW] hearbeat vip disappear upgrade packages

2019-09-19 Thread Andy Magnoux
Public bug reported:

Release of Ubuntu :
Description:Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS
Release:18.04

Version of package :
* heartbeat:
  Installed: 1:3.0.6-7
  Candidate: 1:3.0.6-7
  Version table:
 *** 1:3.0.6-7 500
500 http://fr.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic/main amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

It happens since multiple versions.

Example of Configurations Files we use :
* Haresources :
node1 IPaddr2::10.00.00.100/24/ens160

* ha.cf :
use_logd on
udpport 695
keepalive 2
warntime 15
deadtime 30
initdead 30
mcast ens160 239.0.0.43 695 1 0
node node1 node2
auto_failback on

* authkeys :
auth 3
3 md5 passphrasesforauthentication

I expect to keep the vip on the interface when I upgrade, but when I upgrade
the following packages on different VMs I loose the VIP and the bakcup doesn't
keep the VIP too until I restart the heartbeat upgraded.
Here is the liste of the packages upgraded without knowing which one could
affect the functionnement of heartbeat :
libudev1 linux-generic linux-headers-generic linux-image-generic systemd-sysv
udev

If you need more information I keep available.

Best Regards,

[Bug 1844653] Re: Questions about new szl language packs

2019-09-19 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
I confirmed that the Silesian language can be selected in and installed
via Language Support.

Silesian should also be added to localechooser's languagelist, so it can
be chosen in the installer. I failed to find a repo which matches the
package; this is probably the closest:

https://code.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-core-

Anyway, attached please find a debdiff instead with a proposed oneliner.

@collincusce, so it seems you're using backport-iwlwifi driver compiled
manually, which is certainly fine, but remember you'll need to do the
same for each kernel version you installed.

Ubuntu is also working on including a backport-iwlwifi-dkms package in
the default archives in bug 1835858.

Note: the if the solution needs an ifupdown hook like shown in comment

final solution for almost all of these bugs is that the upstream project
starts to listen o netlink to pick up late ready IP addresses)

[Bug 1844518] Re: Ubuntu 19:10 - Python 3 os.path.isfile not working as expected

2019-09-19 Thread Manfred Hampl
In my opinion this bug can be set to invalid.
In the linked question #684013 it became evident, that (for whatever reason)
/vmlinuz was a dangling symlink pointing to a non-existing kernel version. So
python's output islink:true and isfile:false is fully correct.

[Bug 1843998] Re: package dovecot-core 1:2.2.22-1ubuntu2.12 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2019-09-19 Thread Christian Ehrhardt 
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

Since it seems likely to me that this is a local configuration problem,
rather than a bug in Ubuntu, I'm marking this bug as Incomplete.

If indeed this is a local configuration problem, you can find pointers
to get help for this sort of problem here:
http://www.ubuntu.com/support/community

Or if you believe that this is really a bug, then you may find it
helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem,
explain why you believe this is a bug in Ubuntu rather than a problem
specific to your system, and then change the bug status back to New.

[Bug 1843946] Re: pam_sss configuration is incorrect for smartcard usage

2019-09-19 Thread Christian Ehrhardt 
Thanks for the report, this seems interesting to be fixed. But we'd need
to sort out any (potentially) negative impacts of the change.

We'd probably need to ask upstream if this might have negative impacts to other
use cases.
I know you are active in regard to sssd, if you already discussed with upstream
somewhere please feel free to add a link.

[Bug 1843946] Re: pam_sss configuration is incorrect for smartcard usage

2019-09-19 Thread Christian Ehrhardt 
So the change would need to be in Debian/Ubuntu (as it is not part of
upstream) but the discussion if the change is rather safe should be had
upstream.

Since you can avoid the issue by a config change I wonder if you could
drive the discussion upstream and if the change is confirmed to be
reasonable I'd think this particular case would better be filed against
Debian.

It is unlikely/impossible to SRU the change and it seems (due to config
being an option) take Delta for it. So if I might ask you to drive that
it would be great if you could come back with the discussion/bug-links
for it.

2019-09-19 Thread Collin K Cusce
Ah thank you. So each time the kernel updates a minor version I need to
do the backport command:

sudo apt update
sudo apt install git build-essential
git clone
https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/iwlwifi/backport-iwlwifi.git
cd backport-iwlwifi/
make defconfig-iwlwifi-public
sed -i 's/CPTCFG_IWLMVM_VENDOR_CMDS=y/# CPTCFG_IWLMVM_VENDOR_CMDS is not set/'
.config
make -j4
sudo make install
sudo modprobe iwlwifi

Until such time that the backport-iwlwifi-dkm package is included into
the standard distribution? At which point it'll resolve on its own with
each kernel upgrade, yes?

[Bug 947664] Re: Unpacking linux-headers unbelievably slow in Lubuntu Precise (Beta 1)

2019-09-19 Thread Roger
I have noticed this issue also S. Christian Collins.
I have an Ubuntu host running Ubuntu Budgie 18.04 with three different VMs -
one Ubuntu 16.04, one Ubuntu Budgie 18.04 and one Ubuntu Budgie 19.04 (the last
two are running Linux kernel 5.0).
Had no problems with kernel updates until three weeks ago when I had to
reinstall the host machine.
After I reinstalled the host with Ubuntu Budgie 18.04.3 (with linux kernel
5.0.0.x) I noticed that the kernel updates became very, very, very slow. I even
got warnings about packages broken!
The original installation ran Ubuntu Budgie from release (18.04.01, kernel
4.15).

Also, I noticed that the same Ubuntu Budgie 18.04.03 guest VirtualBox
installation took only 2 minutes to update on Windows 10 host from Linux
kernel 5.0.0.27 to 5.0.0.29.

One other comment is that I am using VirtualBox 6.0.10.

corresponding releases. See:

Timo, you might wish to comment at least in spirv-translator on Ubuntu
19.10 release timeline. It seems they have some pending PRs and I am not
sure for how long they will review them and whether they will be willing
to release without these PR changes and provide release update later.

Googling "viaSwapOutWork" will show some of these.
I have a similar problem: when I use glCallLists() on lists returned by
glXUseXFont(), the first time I run my program, I have this error:

via_tex.c: viaSwapOutWork: Assertion 'sz == vmesa->total_alloc[heap]' failed.
Aborted

from the second run on, everything runs fine.

If this assert is unnecessary, I think it should be removed as soon as
possible, since it is the root of many other bugs, for example:

[Bug 1844722] [NEW] Disco update: upstream stable patchset 2019-09-19

2019-09-19 Thread Kamal Mostafa
Public bug reported:

SRU Justification

Impact:
The upstream process for stable tree updates is quite similar
in scope to the Ubuntu SRU process, e.g., each patch has to
demonstrably fix a bug, and each patch is vetted by upstream
by originating either directly from a mainline/stable Linux tree or
a minimally backported form of that patch. The following upstream
stable patches should be included in the Ubuntu kernel:

   upstream stable patchset 2019-09-19

2019-09-19 Thread uBo
Istalled it with the following commands:
cd /tmp/

wget -c
https://people.canonical.com/~khfeng/lp1844021/linux-modules-4.4.0-165-generic_4.4.0-165.193_amd64.deb
sudo dpkg -i *.deb

Suspend works correctly with that kernel.

But I have graphics issues (software mode only), no sound and no
network. I wonder why.
