Debian accepted my MR and 2.4.2 is there.
Unfortunately due to bug 1852389 I had to realize that I can't make it a sync
yet.
I prepared a MP for a proper merge in

[Bug 1072292] Re: Guake doesn't autostart in gnome-shell, but works perfect

2019-11-13 Thread Robert Matusewicz
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all
reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since
that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some
of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test it on a currently
supported Ubuntu version. When you test it and it is still an issue, kindly
upload the updated logs by running only once:
apport-collect 1072292

and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.

[Bug 1852425] [NEW] Build failure with glibc v2.30

2019-11-13 Thread Alexander Usyskin
Public bug reported:

Recent glibc v2.30 dropped XSI STREAMS declarations,
which causing build failure, like:
poky/build/tmp/work/corei7-64-poky-linux/ace/6.5.6-r0/ACE_wrappers/ace/os_include/os_stropts.h:56:17:
fatal error: stropts.h: No such file or directory
   56 | # include /**/
  | ^~~
compilation terminated.

The upstream already fixed this in this pull request:
https://github.com/DOCGroup/ACE_TAO/pull/939

Please backport that fix to the current ace version in eoan (6.4.5+dfsg-
1build2).

Description:Ubuntu 19.10

work fine with this touchpad.

Actually... on second thought a command-line option may be unavoidable.
If sosreport were to explicitly set a io policy, it might end up
overriding what the operator might specify via ionice.

[Bug 1300004] Re: gedit does not elevate privileges while it's being launched

2019-11-13 Thread Floyd Taylor
Old version of gedit that installed by default in Ubuntu 18.04.3 clean
install just done today allows saving a file or "save as" to any
directory. Snap version of "Text Editor" which purports to be gedit
version 3.32.0 can't save a file anywhere I've tried. The error is that
I don't have permission even though I do have permission to Read AND
Write files in the directories I've tried.

Thinking that there may have been conflict, I uninstalled "old gedit"
via sudo apt remove gedit, then uninstalled and reinstalled "New gedit"
aka "Text Editor" from the Ubuntu Software app. No improvement.

FWIW if it's supposed to be gedit call it gedit. Look at VLC for an
example of old version and new snap version both listed and installable
in the Ubuntu Software store. Choose the version you want. It's a new
VERSION with a new install source not a new App.

[Bug 1852423] [NEW] Nouveau driver fails to set up GeForce GTX 1050 Ti

2019-11-13 Thread Nicolas
Public bug reported:

The nouveau driver fails to setup the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti (not mobile)
card. As soon as it tries to set the mode (before X11 starts), the
screen becomes messed up. The screen still refreshes, but pixels look
scrambled. X11 does not start any more.

This bug appeared with a recent update.

Adding nomodeset to the command line fixes the problem. But then, dual
screen no longer works.

[Bug 1773246] Re: spectacle w/ rectangular region and dual monitor moves display views

2019-11-13 Thread Benjie Gillam
The offset is ~290px to the left for me (the far right is just 290px of
white). I have three screens with their tops aligned, from left to
right: 1440x2560 (rotated so bottom of the monitor is now to the left);
3840x2160; 1440x2560 (rotated opposite to first monitor). Ubuntu 18.04.3
LTS. I configured the monitors using NVIDIA X Server Settings.

[Bug 1848900] Re: [amdgpu] Blank display with Eoan Ermine live DVD on Ryzen 3 2200G

2019-11-13 Thread Peter D.
@Morten

I think that all Ryzen motherboards are going to have UEFI firmware
rather than the old BIOS firmware - even though everyone keeps using the
old name.

If it is your computer and you know what you are doing you could turn
off secure boot. If you don't know, then don't do it.

I grabbed all of these files;

CHECKSUMS
CHECKSUMS.gpg

@Kai-Heng

Rc7 is better than rc6, but not a lot.

I might have imagined the part about the VGA port being reported as a
VGA port. Sorry. That was probably when I had the graphics card
plugged in. The VGA port is being reported as a second Display Port
again.

With a fresh install of Eoan Ermine Xubuntu, updates, and rc7;

Standard boot gives a badly pixelated display for menus, moving windows,
changing text; xrandr reports reasonable things, then after 10 or 20
minutes the machine locks up.

Booting with safe graphics from the grub menu gives a stable display,
but xrandr seems confused and only reports one mode with a 77 Hz
vertical refresh rate, and no mention of any ports.

Do you want log files, or anything in particular?

[Bug 1851340] Re: Ubuntu 19.10 upgrade results in invisible mouse cursor

2019-11-13 Thread John Hartley
Hi, did the following installs to try to get Wayland installed:

sudo apt install gnome-session-wayland
sudo apt install gnome-remote-desktop

Still just getting purple splash with no login;

Did "ps -ax | land"

ps -ax | grep land
 2127 tty1 Ssl+ 0:00 /usr/lib/gdm3/gdm-wayland-session gnome-session
--autostart /usr/share/gdm/greeter/autostart
 2338 ?Sl 0:00 /usr/bin/Xwayland :1024 -rootless -noreset -accessx
-core -auth /run/user/126/.mutter-Xwaylandauth.77M8A0 -listen 4 -listen 5
-displayfd 6
 4651 pts/0S+ 0:00 grep --color=auto land

So Xwayland appears to be started, so not sure why I am just getting
splash and no login prompt.

Thank,

John.

an error message that the UUID specified in fstab does not exist. Last

[Bug 1843392] Re: [snap] smart card reader no longer works

2019-11-13 Thread Andreas Pokorny
I recently had to switch my company card and it now uses a newer version
so it get mis-identified by pcsc-lite from debian - but works fine in
the latest release of pcsc-lite. As companies like Atos seem to
frequently roll out new versions of their cards it would be nice if we
could have opensc (I assume this is also in use - not sure whether it is
client or server side) and pcsc-lite in a separate snap built from a
more recent source

[Bug 1852411] [NEW] systemd resolver not working

2019-11-13 Thread Thomas Schweikle
Public bug reported:

resolv.conf holds after boot:
nameserver 127.0.0.53
options edns0
[...]

Trying to resolve google.com just leads to nothing. Same for any address you
try to resolve. Systemd just does not forward to the given resolver address in
/etc/systemd/resolved.conf:
[Resolve]
DNS=172.18.8.1
#FallbackDNS=
Domains=bfs.de bfs.intern lab.bfs.de rodos.bfs.de
#LLMNR=no
#MulticastDNS=no
#DNSSEC=no
#DNSOverTLS=no
#Cache=yes
#DNSStubListener=yes
#ReadEtcHosts=yes

Copying the address given vor variable DNS in /etc/systemd/resolved.conf
to nameserver in /etc/resolve.conf makes everything working immediately.

[Bug 1852413] [NEW] No sound after connecting bluetooth headset

2019-11-13 Thread MainframeX
Public bug reported:

Software: Ubuntu 18.04 fully patched
Hardware: Lenovo T440s, JBL Everest Elite 750NC

Whenever I connect my bluetooth headset I get no sound. In order to get
sound I have to pair the headset again using the pairing buttons or
connect to the headset again through Gnome (by opening bluetooth
settings and switching the connection rocker to off and on) when the
headset is turned on. Turning the headset on and off again does not fix
the problem.

I don't experience these problems on my Android phone.

No immediate bugs found with that signature.
Checking how the table actually looks like:

Those have only read access to adsrc:
/var/lib/mediawiki/maintenance/dictionary/mediawiki.dic
/var/lib/mediawiki/includes/libs/rdbms/field/PostgresField.php
/var/lib/mediawiki/includes/libs/rdbms/database/DatabasePostgres.php

Nothing else in the source unless the .dic will auto-create it.
Maybe it is a default entry ...

=> https://www.postgresql.org/docs/11/catalog-pg-attrdef.html
This was deprcated even in V8 of postgresql

Part of pg_attrdef:
The adsrc field is historical, and is best not used, because it does not track
outside changes that might affect the representation of the default value.
Reverse-compiling the adbin field (with pg_get_expr for example) is a better
way to display the default value.

With that known lets look for fixes ...

2e5d114a99cf162074f92fc390590da44084362d rdbms: Use correct value for 'sslmode'
in DatabasePostgres
27d342ef4bd31da48b0e10655daf1320e3d00b50 rdbms: Remove references to
pg_attrdef.adsrc in Postgres code

Both are in mediawiki since 1.33, but those are not on the REL1_31
stable branch.

Since we have a sync right now lets take a look at backporting these.
https://github.com/wikimedia/mediawiki/commit/27d342ef4bd31da48b0e10655daf1320e3d00b50
https://github.com/wikimedia/mediawiki/commit/2e5d114a99cf162074f92fc390590da44084362d

But this isn't in git ubuntu and the Debian VCS link points to an upstrema
hosted outdated repository.
It misses the last two uploads.
This is empty:

2019-11-13 Thread Hui Wang
Please remove any modle= from alsa-base.conf

Install the testing kernel and reboot, then test headphone and speaker with the
testing kernel.
https://people.canonical.com/~hwang4/samsung-test/
(to install the testing kernel, sudo dpkg -i linux-modules-xxx.deb; sudo dpkg
-i linux-image-xxx.deb; sudo dpkg -i linux-modules-extra-.deb)

If headphone and speaker still don't work, please run this script and
retest the headphone and speaker again.

then upload the dmesg and alsa-info.txt-with-coeff

[Bug 1848856] Re: Upgrade from 19.04 to 19.10 with zfs on root fails with grub syntax error

2019-11-13 Thread Jean-Baptiste Lallement
Actually I think '\r' is a red herring. The problem is that if several
devices are used for a pool (raid, log or cache) grub-probe returns
several lines. Several are not handled properly when we generate the
line of metadata used to create the menu. The patch is to take the first
device returned by grub-probe.

[Bug 1852413] Re: No sound after connecting bluetooth headset

2019-11-13 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1852413/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 1852067] Re: [HP ZBook Studio G5, Conexant Generic, Speaker, Internal] No sound from built-in speakers after disconnecting headphones. Prior to connecting headphones speakers works ok.

2019-11-13 Thread Marcin P
I have some additional observations (on regular kernel: 5.0.0-35-generic
#38~18.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Mon Nov 11 09:16:10 UTC 2019 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64
GNU/Linux):

I also have a HP docking station which has its own separated built-in
DAC. When laptop is connected to this docking station I can choose from
following sound devices:

- Digital Output (S/PDIF) - USB Audio
- Analog Output - USB Audio
- Speakers - Built-in Audio

When I don't connect headphones I can switch between these devices and
when coming back to built-in speakers the speakers usually work (however
sometimes they don't). But after connecting headphones the speakers will
never work again.

To clarify: all previous tests I did were done on laptop disconnected
from docking station.

[Bug 1852406] [NEW] Double-escape in initramfs DECRYPT_CMD

2019-11-13 Thread Witold Krecicki
Public bug reported:

initramfs/scripts/zfs.in incorrectly quotes ${ENCRYPTIONROOT} on line
414:

DECRYPT_CMD="${ZFS} load-key '${ENCRYPTIONROOT}'"

This is OK when the line is executed by shell, such as in line 430 or
436, but when plymouth is used it results in plymouth executing "zfs
load-key 'rpool'" - and zfs is unable to find pool called "'rpool'".

If I understand
https://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23824_01/html/821-1448/gbcpt.html correctly
zfs pool name is always 'shell-friendly', so removing the quotation
marks would be a proper fix for that.

** Affects: zfs-linux (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

** Patch added: "zfs-encryptionroot-quote.patch"

https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1852406/+attachment/5305012/+files/zfs-encryptionroot-quote.patch

[Bug 1851062] Re: Qemu using CPU even when the VM is paused

2019-11-13 Thread Christian Ehrhardt 
Interesting, so the main qemu in the host consumes ~17% user and ~18%
system while this is going on. And this goes on for at least the 15
seconds we traced things (and from your report I assume it keeps going
on).

We also see context switches, but no faults - this really just seems to "do
something".
Very odd and very unexpected @pedro.

Nothing is spend in the guest, matching what you'd expect after pausing.
I'd understand some buffer flushes or cleanups but those should stop after a
while.
But if you say this "keep going" I agree that it feels odd.

With these logs I'd at least call it confirmed for now.
But it seems we need to go step by step analazing what is going on.

The next obvious step once you again see such a case would be to check
"what" the qemu is doing on the host.

I'm not sure how experienced you are with profiling workload.
If you are please just dive deep and report what you find.
If you are not I can give suggestions every step but we will have to ping/pong
this back and forth until we have something.

When in this paused-but-busy state you could next time run:
$ sudo strace -rT -ff -f -o paused-but-busy -p $(pidof qemu-system-x86_64)
Please at the same time also run the other one you already used so that we can
match thread IDs:
$ pidstat -p $(pidof qemu-system-x86_64) -T ALL -rtuw 5 5

Also with the guest paused I'd expect the following not to move:
for i in $(seq 1 5); do virsh domstats ""; sleep 5; done

[Bug 1852421] [NEW] Error during apt dist-ugprade

2019-11-13 Thread parth
Public bug reported:

I try to run the software updater GUI, and i get the following error:

The System Package is Broken:
Check if you are using third party repositories. If so disable them, since they
are a common source of problems.
Furthermore run the following command in a Terminal: apt-get install -f
Transaction failed: The package system is broken
The following packages have unmet dependencies:

linux-image-generic: Depends: linux-modules-extra-5.3.0-22-generic but
it is not installed

So then I run, apt update, followed by sudo apt dist-upgrade,

I get the following error:

You might want to run 'apt --fix-broken install' to correct these.

[Bug 1851647] Re: audio devices disappear, some programs freeze intermittently

2019-11-13 Thread jnns
It happened again; my system is now in a state where every context menu
invocation and showing the file-open dialog in Firefox makes Firefox
stall for a minute or so.

Chrome works fine which means that context-menus can be invoked.
Although when I make Firefox hang Chrome is also hanging for that
duration.

Audio devices have disappeared as well.

[Bug 602809] Re: add Mouse Click Debounce Feature?

2019-11-13 Thread Herman Grobler
Is there any update on this, I use a MSI mouse and MSI keyboard. The issue is
most notable on my mouse, but I have duplicate key press events on my keyboard
as well.
I'm sure allowing the debounce delay to be configurable will be a quick win
here as JohnWashington suggested.

[Bug 1852417] [NEW] WIFI drops every 10 min

2019-11-13 Thread plato
Public bug reported:

As soon as I updated to 19.10 (Ubuntu Budgie) My WIFI drops every 10
minutes. I then restart, problem is solved and then again the same.

The strange thing is that I also have a laptop running MacOs and WIFI
works fine. So there is no problem with my network.

Is there a solution to this?

Cheers!
