[Bug 1300004] Re: gedit does not elevate privileges while it's being launched
Old version of gedit that installed by default in Ubuntu 18.04.3 clean install just done today allows saving a file or "save as" to any directory. Snap version of "Text Editor" which purports to be gedit version 3.32.0 can't save a file anywhere I've tried. The error is that I don't have permission even though I do have permission to Read AND Write files in the directories I've tried. Thinking that there may have been conflict, I uninstalled "old gedit" via sudo apt remove gedit, then uninstalled and reinstalled "New gedit" aka "Text Editor" from the Ubuntu Software app. No improvement. FWIW if it's supposed to be gedit call it gedit. Look at VLC for an example of old version and new snap version both listed and installable in the Ubuntu Software store. Choose the version you want. It's a new VERSION with a new install source not a new App. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/134 Title: gedit does not elevate privileges while it's being launched To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gedit/+bug/134/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1852423] [NEW] Nouveau driver fails to set up GeForce GTX 1050 Ti
Public bug reported: The nouveau driver fails to setup the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti (not mobile) card. As soon as it tries to set the mode (before X11 starts), the screen becomes messed up. The screen still refreshes, but pixels look scrambled. X11 does not start any more. This bug appeared with a recent update. Adding nomodeset to the command line fixes the problem. [Bug 1848900] Re: [amdgpu] Blank display with Eoan Ermine live DVD on Ryzen 3 2200G
@Morten I think that all Ryzen motherboards are going to have UEFI firmware rather than the old BIOS firmware - even though everyone keeps using the old name. If it is your computer and you know what you are doing you could turn off secure boot. If you don't know, then don't do it. I grabbed all of these files; CHECKSUMS CHECKSUMS.gpg linux-headers-5.4.0-050400rc7_5.4.0-050400rc7.201911102031_all.deb linux-headers-5.4.0-050400rc7-generic_5.4.0-050400rc7.201911102031_amd64.deb linux-image-unsigned-5.4.0-050400rc7-generic_5.4.0-050400rc7.201911102031_amd64.deb linux-modules-5.4.0-050400rc7-generic_5.4.0-050400rc7.201911102031_amd64.deb @Kai-Heng Rc7 is better than rc6, but not a lot. I might have imagined the part about the VGA port being reported as a VGA port. Sorry. That was probably when I had the graphics card plugged in. The VGA port is being reported as a second Display Port again. With a fresh install of Eoan Ermine Xubuntu, updates, and rc7; Standard boot gives a badly pixelated display for menus, moving windows, changing text; xrandr reports reasonable things, then after 10 or 20 minutes the machine locks up. Booting with safe graphics from the grub menu gives a stable display, but xrandr seems confused and only reports one mode with a 77 Hz vertical refresh rate, and no mention of any ports. [Bug 1848856] Re: Upgrade from 19.04 to 19.10 with zfs on root fails with grub syntax error
Actually I think '\r' is a red herring. The problem is that if several devices are used for a pool (raid, log or cache) grub-probe returns several lines. Several are not handled properly when we generate the line of metadata used to create the menu. The patch is to take the first device returned by grub-probe. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1848856 Title: Upgrade from 19.04 to 19.10 with zfs on root fails with grub syntax error To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/1848856/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1852413] Re: No sound after connecting bluetooth headset
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1852413/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package. [Bug 1852067] Re: [HP ZBook Studio G5, Conexant Generic, Speaker, Internal] No sound from built-in speakers after disconnecting headphones. Prior to connecting headphones speakers works ok.
I have some additional observations (on regular kernel: 5.0.0-35-generic #38~18.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Mon Nov 11 09:16:10 UTC 2019 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux): I also have a HP docking station which has its own separated built-in DAC. When laptop is connected to this docking station I can choose from following sound devices: - Digital Output (S/PDIF) - USB Audio - Analog Output - USB Audio - Speakers - Built-in Audio When I don't connect headphones I can switch between these devices and when coming back to built-in speakers the speakers usually work (however sometimes they don't). But after connecting headphones the speakers will never work again. [Bug 1852406] [NEW] Double-escape in initramfs DECRYPT_CMD
Public bug reported: initramfs/scripts/zfs.in incorrectly quotes ${ENCRYPTIONROOT} on line 414: DECRYPT_CMD="${ZFS} load-key '${ENCRYPTIONROOT}'" This is OK when the line is executed by shell, such as in line 430 or 436, but when plymouth is used it results in plymouth executing "zfs load-key 'rpool'" - and zfs is unable to find pool called "'rpool'". If I understand https://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23824_01/html/821-1448/gbcpt.html correctly zfs pool name is always 'shell-friendly', so removing the quotation marks would be a proper fix for that. ** Affects: zfs-linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Patch added: "zfs-encryptionroot-quote.patch" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1852406/+attachment/5305012/+files/zfs-encryptionroot-quote.patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1852406 Title: Double-escape in initramfs DECRYPT_CMD To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/zfs-linux/+bug/1852406/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1851062] Re: Qemu using CPU even when the VM is paused
Interesting, so the main qemu in the host consumes ~17% user and ~18% system while this is going on. And this goes on for at least the 15 seconds we traced things (and from your report I assume it keeps going on). We also see context switches, but no faults - this really just seems to "do something". Very odd and very unexpected @pedro. Nothing is spend in the guest, matching what you'd expect after pausing. I'd understand some buffer flushes or cleanups but those should stop after a while. But if you say this "keep going" I agree that it feels odd. With these logs I'd at least call it confirmed for now. But it seems we need to go step by step analazing what is going on. The next obvious step once you again see such a case would be to check "what" the qemu is doing on the host. I'm not sure how experienced you are with profiling workload. If you are please just dive deep and report what you find. If you are not I can give suggestions every step but we will have to ping/pong this back and forth until we have something. When in this paused-but-busy state you could next time run: $ sudo strace -rT -ff -f -o paused-but-busy -p $(pidof qemu-system-x86_64) Please at the same time also run the other one you already used so that we can match thread IDs: $ pidstat -p $(pidof qemu-system-x86_64) -T ALL -rtuw 5 5 Also with the guest paused I'd expect the following not to move: for i in $(seq 1 5); do virsh domstats ""; sleep 5; done ** Changed in: qemu (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1851062 Title: Qemu using CPU even when the VM is paused To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qemu/+bug/1851062/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1851647] Re: audio devices disappear, some programs freeze intermittently
It happened again; my system is now in a state where every context menu invocation and showing the file-open dialog in Firefox makes Firefox stall for a minute or so. Chrome works fine which means that context-menus can be invoked. Although when I make Firefox hang Chrome is also hanging for that duration. Audio devices have disappeared as well. ** Attachment added: "dmesg.log" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1851647/+attachment/5305089/+files/dmesg.log -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1851647 Title: audio devices disappear, some programs freeze intermittently To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1851647/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 602809] Re: add Mouse Click Debounce Feature?
Is there any update on this, I use a MSI mouse and MSI keyboard. The issue is most notable on my mouse, but I have duplicate key press events on my keyboard as well. I'm sure allowing the debounce delay to be configurable will be a quick win here as JohnWashington suggested. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/602809 Title: add Mouse Click Debounce Feature? [Bug 1852417] [NEW] WIFI drops every 10 min
Public bug reported: As soon as I updated to 19.10 (Ubuntu Budgie) My WIFI drops every 10 minutes. I then restart, problem is solved and then again the same. The strange thing is that I also have a laptop running MacOs and WIFI works fine. So there is no problem with my network. Is there a solution to this? Cheers!
