[Bug 1930430] Re: Apache2 Certificate Chain Verification within Proxy not Working after dist-upgrade to focal
Thank you, I think we have everything in place to check if this is SRUable by a backport. @Sergio / @Athos - I missed before that this was blocked mostly on chained/real certificates :-/ Due to other fixes that I've done I have means to set up and drive real cerbot based tests on canonistack. I don't want to waste Horsts work on local-tests but to make things better I wanted to ask if we could do a joint session re-creating this so you can in future do that as well? ** Tags added: server-next -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1930430 Title: Apache2 Certificate Chain Verification within Proxy not Working after dist-upgrade to focal To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/apache2/+bug/1930430/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1934643] [NEW] infinite loop in patched cJSON_Minify function
Public bug reported: Dear Maintainer, Version 1.7.10-1.1 is the most recent version on focal. The last release included a patch for CVE-2019-11835 (issue #338 on upstream). However, this patch introduced a bug in the patched function cJSON_Minify (issue #354 on upstream). There is a (potential) infinite loop in the relevant function. The issue has been fixed in commit 08d2bc766a82cd75764d036f9efef444590d1cf9 The fix is included in newer releases, so it is included on ubuntu groovy and newer. I request to patch this issue on focal. The fix is very small (only two lines of code). The same issue arised on debian buster and the patch was applied (see https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=973442 ) Thanks for your help. ** Affects: cjson (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1934643 Title: infinite loop in patched cJSON_Minify function To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cjson/+bug/1934643/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1931565] Re: pull in latest thermald bug fixes into thermald
This bug was fixed in the package thermald - 2.4.3-1ubuntu1 --- thermald (2.4.3-1ubuntu1) hirsute; urgency=medium * Pull in bug fixes between 2.4.3 and 2.4.6 (LP: #1931565) [Colin Ian King] - Fix spelling mistakes found using codespell [Srinivas Pandruvada] - Disable legacy rapl cdev when rapl-mmio is in use This will prevent PL1/PL2 power limit from MSR based rapl, which may not be the correct one. - Delete all trips from zones before psvt install Initially zones has all the trips from sysfs, which may have wrong settings. Instead of deleting only for matched psvt zones, delete or all zones. In this way only zones which are in PSVT will be present. - Check for alternate names for B0D4 device B0D4 can be named as TCPU or B0D4. So search for both names if failed to find one. - Fix error for condition names The current code caps the max name as the last condition name, which is "Power_Slider". So any condition more than 56 will be printing error, with "Power_Slider" as condition name. For example for condition = 57: Unsupported condition 57 (Power_slider) - Set a very high RAPL MSR PL1 with --adaptive After upgrading Dell Latitude 5420, again noticed performance degradation. The PPCC power limit for MSR RAPL PL1 is reduced to 15W. Even though we disable MSR RAPL with --adaptive option, it is not getting disabled. So MSR RAPL limits still playing role. To fix that set a very high MSR RAPL PL1 limit so that it never causes throttling. All throttling with --adaptive option is done using RAPL-MMIO. - Special case for default PSVT When there are no adaptive tables and only one default PSVT table is present with just one entry with MAX type. Add one additional entry as done for non default case. - Increase power limit for disabled RAPL-MMIO Increase 100W to 200W as some desktop platform already have limit more than 100W. - Use Adaptive PPCC limits for RAPL MMIO Set the correct device name as RAPL-MSR so that RAPL-MMIO can also set the correct default power limits. -- Colin King Thu, 10 Jun 2021 12:52:21 +0100 ** Changed in: thermald (Ubuntu Hirsute) Status: Fix Committed => Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1931565 Title: pull in latest thermald bug fixes into thermald To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/thermald/+bug/1931565/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1934579] Re: Nautilus crashes when opening multiple "Places" folders from launch panel
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps: 1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run: ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug. 2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine. Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please send the links to us. 3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921, reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1. Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security risk for yourself. ** Changed in: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => High ** Changed in: nautilus (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1934579 Title: Nautilus crashes when opening multiple "Places" folders from launch panel To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1934579/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures. At a minimum, we need: 1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem. 2. The behavior you expected. 3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). Please also ensure that you include the release and flavour of Ubuntu that you are using. [Bug 1934510] Re: [MIR] fuse3 as a dependency of qemu 6.0
[Summary] This could be a somewhat straight forward case for the source itself. It is a bit light on tests, but otherwise fine as it was pre-reviewed in the former version being src:fuse. The biggest problem is that we generally don't want duplication if we can avoid it. In this case I tried but qemu (as the first to pull it into main) would not be able to work with fuse2 as an alternative. MIR Team NACK until we can transition to fuse3 as a whole under the lead of foundations. Or at least consider v3 important enough to have it in main concurrently to v2. I'll give them a call if this is on their radar at all yet. List of specific binary packages to be promoted to main: libfuse3-3, libfuse3-dev Recommended TODO: - tests should be added/improved before this is later on promoted to main - security will have to do a re-evaluation, but that likely is rather quick based on fuse(2) being already in main. [Duplication] There is the predecessor in main (same project same source older version). It was decided in Debian to have both packaged separately - probably for the many dependencies that still are on the old version. $ reverse-depends --release impish src:fuse |& grep '^\*' -c 161 $ reverse-depends --release impish src:fuse3 |& grep '^\*' -c 7 There are various use cases for fuse, and the server Team is only touching very few of them. I wonder if we should wait until fuse3 is more adopted and then let foundations (who own fuse2) own this one as well. They have the experience to deal with it from fuse2 already. Note: I have tried to enable fuse(2) with the qemu build, as it first seems that it would need 3.8 only for the hole support. But it needs fuse3 in all cases. Therefore we can not provide the feature as-is with fuse2. [Dependencies] OK: - no other Dependencies to MIR due to this - no -dev/-debug/-doc packages that need exclusion [Embedded sources and static linking] OK: - no embedded source present - no static linking [Security] OK: - history of CVEs does not look concerning Not that there would be none, but they are identical to "fuse" which is in main. - does not run a daemon as root - does not use webkit1,2 - does not use lib*v8 directly - does not open a port - does not process arbitrary web content - does not use centralized online accounts - does not integrate arbitrary javascript into the desktop - does not deal with system authentication (eg, pam), etc) Problems: - does parse data formats - as this is the very nature of what a filesystem does. [Common blockers] OK: - does not FTBFS currently - no translation present, but none needed for this case (user visible)? - not a python/go package, no extra constraints to consider in that regard - no new python2 dependency Problems: - does have a test suite that runs at build time - But this test suite foes not fail the build upon error. - does not have a test suite that runs as autopkgtest - The package has no team bug subscriber (yet) [Packaging red flags] OK: - Ubuntu does not carry a delta - symbols tracking is in place - d/watch is present and looks ok - Upstream update history is good - Debian/Ubuntu update history is good - the current release is packaged - promoting this does not seem to cause issues for MOTUs that so far maintained the package - no massive Lintian warnings - d/rules is rather clean - Does not have Built-Using - is not on the lto-disabled list [Upstream red flags] OK: - no Errors/warnings during the build - no incautious use of malloc/sprintf (as far as I can check it) - no use of sudo, gksu, pkexec, or LD_LIBRARY_PATH - no use of user nobody - no important open bugs (crashers, etc) in Debian or Ubuntu or Upstream - no dependency on webkit, qtwebkit, seed or libgoa-* - not part of the UI for extra checks Problems: - use of setuid for e.g. fusermount3 binary This is the same for fuse(2) so I guess it is fine, but this is another +1 on needing a security review. P.S. sorry Paride for rejecting after I did ask you to have a look at it; But for what it is worth I can confirm the the MIR request itself was perfectly done! ** Description changed: Please promote the following binary packages built from src:fuse3 to main: - libfuse3-3 - libfuse3-dev [Availability] The inclusion of fuse3 in Ubuntu is fairly recent, first being imported in Focal as a sync from Debian, however its predecessor src:fuse from the same upstream (libfuse [1]) has been packaged in Debian since 2002, it's already in main and has been in Ubuntu forever. The upstream project is "the reference implementation of the Linux FUSE (Filesystem in Userspace) interface" [1] , and can be fully trusted to keep maintaining the package in the foreseeable future. fuse3 is currently a sync from Debian in Focal, Groovy, Hirsute and Impish. [Bug 1934381] Re: package postfix 3.5.6-1 failed to install/upgrade: installed postfix package post-installation script subprocess returned error exit status 75
Hello, Thanks for filing the bug and helping in making Ubuntu Server better! >From your logs, I see: > newaliases: fatal: file /etc/postfix/main.cf: parameter > myhostname: bad parameter value: saturn.. You need to set a valid hostname. This isn't really a package bug (this behavior is by design), but a local configuration issue, I believe. However, I tried to reproduce the bug as you mentioned but wasn't able to. In a Hirsute (21.04) VM, I installed postfix, configured it as you mentioned, did upgrade, and finally upgrade to Impish (the devel release) but both the upgrade went fix. I used hostname=xdesk and whilst I can confirm that it did add two dots but as I mentioned, the upgrade went OK. $ grep myhostname /etc/postfix/main.cf [...] myhostname = xdesk.. [...] Although your log shows that this is what caused the problem, I'd like to ask if you can help me layout a reproducer (that is, steps to reproduce this bug) so that we can help fix this? Also, since we are in sync with the version of postfix in Debian (that is, 3.5.6-1)[1], can you please forward this bug report to Debian? Scott is an active maintainer and once this is fixed there, the fix will land here in Impish (the next release) and we can further backport (SRU) this fix to older releases, depending upon the patch and its details, et al. Anyway, let's proceed for now. ** Changed in: nova (Ubuntu Bionic) Status: In Progress => Fix Committed ** Tags added: verification-needed verification-needed-bionic -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1751923 Title: [SRU]_heal_instance_info_cache periodic task bases on port list from nova db, not from neutron server To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/cloud-archive/+bug/1751923/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
