[Bug 2056187] Re: fails to configure BOOTIF when using iscsi
Hello Alexsander, or anyone else affected, Accepted initramfs-tools into jammy-proposed. The package will build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/initramfs- tools/0.140ubuntu13.5 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository. Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users. If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug, mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed- jammy to verification-done-jammy. If it does not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification- failed-jammy. In either case, without details of your testing we will not be able to proceed. Further information regarding the verification process can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in advance for helping! N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s) fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in -proposed for a minimum of 7 days. ** Changed in: initramfs-tools (Ubuntu Jammy) Status: New => Fix Committed ** Tags added: verification-needed verification-needed-jammy -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2056187 Title: fails to configure BOOTIF when using iscsi To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/initramfs-tools/+bug/2056187/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 2029473] Re: Backport Ubuntu Pro to Xenial
I installed .13 from proposed. Ensured that the machine wasn't attached to ubuntu pro with $ pro status Launched software-properties-gtk, went to the Ubuntu Pro tab, which stated 'This machine is not covered by an Ubuntu Pro subscription', displayed a 'Enable Ubuntu Pro' button and had the service controls inactive. Clicked 'Enable Ubuntu Pro' and entered the PIN in ubuntu.com/pro/attach, after some seconds the software-properties UI updated and displayed a green mark and 'Valid token' label, I clicked 'Confirm', entered password at the prompt, the spinner showed up in place of the mark/label, once the attachment job was done the dialog was autoclosed. The UI then stated 'Ubuntu Pro support is enabled' and under Security 'ESM Infra', 'ESM Apps' and 'Kernel Livepatch' were displayed an enabled, with '$ pro status' output matching the UI. Enabled and disabled Infra in the UI and confirmed that the 'pro status' changed accordingly. Clicked 'Disable Ubuntu Pro', got asked for confirmation and password, confirmed that the UI is back to the original state and that 'pro status' confirmed the system wasn't attached to Ubuntu Pro anymore. The same testcase also succeeded for the 'Or add token manually' option. ** Tags removed: verification-needed verification-needed-xenial ** Tags added: verification-done verification-done-xenial -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2029473 Title: Backport Ubuntu Pro to Xenial To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/software-properties/+bug/2029473/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 2059856]
The master branch has been updated by Tom Tromey : https://sourceware.org/git/gitweb.cgi?p=binutils- gdb.git;h=b1741ab0dafd899889faab6e862094a325a6b83c commit b1741ab0dafd899889faab6e862094a325a6b83c Author: Tom Tromey Date: Sat Mar 30 13:48:30 2024 -0600 libiberty: Invoke D demangler when --format=auto Investigating GDB PR d/31580 showed that the libiberty demangler doesn't automatically demangle D mangled names. However, I think it should -- like C++ and Rust (new-style), D mangled names are readily distinguished by the leading "_D", and so the likelihood of confusion is low. The other non-"auto" cases in this code are Ada (where the encoded form could more easily be confused by ordinary programs) and Java (which is long gone, but which also shared the C++ mangling and thus was just an output style preference). This patch also fixed another GDB bug, though of course that part won't apply to the GCC repository. [Bug 2038694] Re: Now that exfat filesystem is in the kernel, allow using it for storing isos loopback booting and storing the persistence file
Previously I created a script to make ubuntu iso images bootable from f2fs partitions. After discovering this bug, I converted it into a generic "make casper aware of fs X, add kernel modules Y to the initrd" one. You can get it here https://github.com/slowpeek/ubuntu-remaster-bbb and make 20.04+ images bootable from exfat like this: ubuntu-remaster-exfat input.iso output.iso or, without the exfat shortcut: ubuntu-remaster-bbb --fs exfat --module exfat input.iso output.iso If using the docker image: ubuntu-remaster-bbb.docker --fs exfat --module exfat -- input.iso output.iso This way 18.04.5+ can boot from exfat as well, but only with the hwe kernel. Hence in case of live-server 18.04.5+, extra '--hwe-only' option is required. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2038694 Title: Now that exfat filesystem is in the kernel, allow using it for storing isos loopback booting and storing the persistence file To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/casper/+bug/2038694/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I've fetched some older versions (again, I am running 22.04.4) of packages gir1.2-mutter-10 libmutter-10-0 and mutter-common and made them into hold status. [Bug 2060130] [NEW] [SPR][EMR][GNR] TDX: efi: TD Measurement support for kernel cmdline/initrd sections from EFI stub
Public bug reported: This is a public version of https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2058835 [Description] When a TD is created, during the boot process, steps like loading the firmware, bootloader, kernel image, etc are measured and stored in RTMR registers to support the trusted boot model. After boot, this measured value is used to validate the integrity of the boot process. During the direct boot process, bootloader is responsible for measuring the kernel image before loading the kernel. But if the kernel is loaded from EFI bootstub, the related measurements needs to be owned by the EFI bootstub. This support needs to be added to Linux EFI boot stub code. Also, as per the following discussion, the kernel command line or initrd section measurements also needs be owned by the EFI bootsub. https://edk2.groups.io/g/devel/topic/93737108?p=Created%2C%2C%2C20%2C2%2C0%2C0%3A%3A%2C%2C%2C0%2C0%2C0%2C93737108 [Fix] Cherry pick cleanly: d228814b1913 efi/libstub: Add get_event_log() support for CC platforms ac93cbfc2a2c efi/libstub: Measure into CC protocol if TCG2 protocol is absent 0bbe5b0ea97a efi/libstub: Add Confidential Computing (CC) measurement typedefs 7a1381e8313f efi/tpm: Use symbolic GUID name from spec for final events table 3e0b0f880e9e efi/libstub: Use TPM event typedefs from the TCG PC Client spec Those are all merged into upstream. [Bug 2056485] Re: Behaviour of socat in Ubuntu 20.04 unexpected
SRU review Please could you explain why "minor-corrections-in-makefile-and-test- sh.patch" is required - in particular the change to Makefile.in, but also the test change? If only parts are required, can the patch be made more minimal? > [ Where problems could occur ] I accept that this is a bug and the fix is correct. However, I'm concerned about how the proposed change in behaviour might affect users of 20.04 relying on the current behaviour, even if it is incorrect. If a user already has scripting relying on this behaviour, it'll break. Notably, this is being proposed for 20.04 rather than the current LTS. We're four years from release now; I'd expect few new deployments on 20.04 at this point. Given its age and the existence of a newer LTS, users also expect behaviour to be more stable with fewer exceptions at this point in the 20.04 release lifecycle. Perhaps this is what you meant by "If the changed condition of IF was done wrong" but it's not clear to me if this risk has been considered in depth. For example, can you work around this problem in mkvterm instead, just for 20.04, so that the impact to users can be fixed without risking breaking existing users of socat who might be relying on the problem behaviour? If not, can we arrange for some interaction between mkvterm and socat to switch behaviour only if specifically requested? ** Changed in: socat (Ubuntu Focal) Status: In Progress => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2056485 Title: Behaviour of socat in Ubuntu 20.04 unexpected To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-power-systems/+bug/2056485/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 2060122] [NEW] minimise animations fly everywhere
Public bug reported: Problem: When maximising/minimising/restoring a window by clicking on the item in the launcher, sometimes (often) the animation - which makes the window shrink and 'fly' to or from the dock, will fly in the wrong direction. Steps to reproduce: * Have multiple monitors (I think, I don't recall seeing this in a single monitor usage) * Launch a number of applications * Click icons in the dock to trigger animation as applications grow and shrink from the launcher up to the workspace. What should happen: * Window appears near the dock, and grows to the final location on screen and * Window shrinks back down to the dock What happens: * Sometimes windows fly up to the top left of the display, *and* to the dock at the bottom. Animation frames flicker all over the place, but mostly both towards the top left and towards the bottom. It *looks* like alternate frames of animation are flying up and down. [Bug 2052813] Re: [MIR] bpfcc
The main user story being implemented here is the one specified by Brendan Gregg in his literature, including his book "Systems Performance, 2nd Edition". In that book he specifies "Linux crisis tool packages" [Table 4.1], which specifies bpfcc-tools and a bunch of binaries provided by that. Looking at the difference between libbpf-tools and bpfcc-tools, the former is only a subset and doesn't include all the tools specified in the book. For example, the book covers trace and argdist in section 15.1.6. These have -bpfcc versions provided by bpfcc-tools, but I don't see any equivalents in libbpf-tools. The intention is that we install by default what the book covers. Therefore, I'd like to request (at least initially) that we have bpfcc- tools in main. If that's not possible then libbpf-tools will be better than nothing, but will add to the caveats in this entire effort. Please could you consider the MIR request to be for the bpfcc-tools binary package? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2052813 Title: [MIR] bpfcc To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bpfcc/+bug/2052813/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 2054390] Re: Refine proc mounts entries traversal
** Description changed: [Impact] - When LDAP automount maps generate a substantial number of entries in /proc/mounts, it has the potential to induce a timeout issue, particularly during the process of iterating through the entries twice in the cryptroot hook. + The shell's read builtin iterates through /proc/mounts one byte at a time. This becomes problematic when LDAP automount maps generate a large number of entries in /proc/mounts. It can lead to timeout issues, especially when iterating through the entries twice in the cryptroot hook. [Fix] - Utilizing awk to initially filter out pertinent mount points results in a notable reduction in the execution time of the hook. + Applying the following upstream commit can resolve this issue. + + 95fd4be9b4c6 d/functions: get_mnt_devno(): Speed up execution time on large /proc/mounts. + Use awk rather than a `while read; do done` loop here as the /proc/mounts + pseudo-file can be many thousands lines long and the shell's `read` builtin + traverses it one read(2) at the time which cruelly slows down execution time. + + See https://salsa.debian.org/cryptsetup- + team/cryptsetup/-/merge_requests/36 . [Test Plan] - The patch maintains the existing logic within the hook. Our primary objective is to ensure that the output remains consistent when obtaining devnos through iteration. 1. Execute the /usr/share/initramfs-tools/hooks/cryptroot binary 2. Confirm that the output does not include the following warning message: cryptsetup: WARNING: Couldn't determine root device [Where problems could occur] The patch exclusively modifies the method of extracting information without altering the underlying hook logic. It's crucial to note that the successful generation of the crypttab is contingent upon the accuracy of the information provided by the patch. Any inaccuracies may impede the crypttab generation process. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2054390 Title: Refine proc mounts entries traversal To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cryptsetup/+bug/2054390/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures. At a minimum, we need: 1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem. 2. The behavior you expected. 3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). Please also ensure that you include the release and flavour of Ubuntu that you are using.
