[Bug 37711] Re: Cannot enter anything into real number fields

2006-10-02 Thread Risto H. Kurppa
Same problem here (Kubuntu dapper, finnish as primary language).

If I start scribus normally, the problem is there (line width etc. go to zero
etc). But starting it with
 LANG=en LC_ALL=en scribus
removes the problem.

I noticed the same problem with KPhotoAlbum, it kept loosing dates.

See discussion here:
First mailing:
http://mail.kdab.net/mailman/pipermail/kphotoalbum/2006-September/002314.html
(follow the thread)
and what I found out:
http://mail.kdab.net/mailman/pipermail/kphotoalbum/2006-October/002402.html

Is it a bug in the program or in Dapper localization settings / the way
they're implemented? Someone, please take this forward..

[Bug 63680] Re: dapper - edgy dist-upgrade holds back essential packages

2006-10-27 Thread Risto H. Kurppa
So is there a solution for this available? Using KDE, updated via
changing sources.list and update dist-upgrade several times and hpijs
won't install. All other packages are ok.

In the end I was able to sudo apt-get install hpijs and after this
upgrade was ok.

Too bad if command line dist-upgrade fails, would be nice to have it
working (For example KDE doesn't have a graphical upgrade tool - does
it?)

[Bug 65708] Re: Fonts not shown in dialogs window

2006-10-31 Thread Risto H. Kurppa
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 62300 ***

Audacity Screenshot: http://rhk.homelinux.net/temp/audacity.png

I installed the suggested fonts but wasn't able to remove
~/.gtkrc-1.2-gnome2 since I don't have it. I only had .gtkrc-2.0 but
removing it didn't help. I don't have Gnome either. Creating
.gtkrc-1.2-gnome2 or .gtkrc-mine with above suggested contents didn't
help.

I also installed the fonts suggested here:
https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/gtk+1.2/+bug/62300/comments/8

Starting audacity on command line gives no messages.

I originally had an up-to date Kubuntu Dapper installed and audacity
worked fine. After update to Edgy the menus were gone. I suppose Edgy
installation removed some required packages.

[Bug 67809] Re: ksmserver crashes on logout

2006-10-31 Thread Risto H. Kurppa
Same here, ksmserver crashes every time I log out so it doesn't save the
session. (crashes also if I press 'cancel' in logoff window). On login
it loads some old session. I don't have beryl or xgl installed. I'm
using fglrx driver

I think it started while I was still using Dapper, but after I updated
to KDE 3.5.5

Anyone - a solution?

This here is near this thread but didn't solve my problem..
https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/kdebase/+bug/67889

And as noted in KDE bug database, this is a distro related problem (not
KDE but Kubuntu..)

There's no ~KSMShutdownDlg at shutdowndlg.cpp:270. Your crash must come
from a distribution-specific patch.

Same here, Amarok skips tracks or actually plays only some 2-3 first
seconds of a (normal 2-3 minutes long) track and then starts playing the
next that's on the playlist.

I haven't found any hints (except that almost every second track is
skipped) when this happen, it seems to be totally random.

restored normally.

Hope we'll be seeing this soon in updates.

[Bug 290166] [NEW] Intrepid alternate USB boot requires a cd

2008-10-28 Thread Risto H. Kurppa
Public bug reported:

I downloaded kubuntu intrepid alternate RC 64-bit and made it to a USB
image with isotostick and unetbootin (see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/FromUSBStick). It loads,
I select install, give the localisation settings (finnish). It starts to
load things and soon stops to tell me that there's no CD in the drive. I
think it asked if I want to try again or skip or something. Anyway the
installation won't continue without a cd. Not sure what would happen if
I had the cd there.

- USB installation fails.

[Bug 290166] Re: Intrepid alternate USB boot requires a cd

2008-10-29 Thread Risto H. Kurppa
Hi!

I'm using Hardy 32-bit Kubuntu to run Unetbootin or isotostick (I tried
both!) to create the bootable usb stick from kubuntu-intrepid-RC-
AMD64-alternate image.

I didn't test yet other images (Ubuntu or Kubuntu full live) to give
more information. I tried to run the md5 check but again it required a
cd so it didn't help.

download live image - burn on cd - use the new tool to create a
botable usb doesn't work if you don't have a cd drive and only have one
computer to work on.

Can someone confirm that they've beeb able to make this work or if it
failed like it did for me?

[Bug 221540] [NEW] Not possible to upgrade if ubuntu.com off-line because of release notes file

2008-04-24 Thread Risto H. Kurppa
Public bug reported:

Upgrading from Gutsy to Hardy w. Kubuntu, KDE 3.5.9.

The upgrade with Adept the upgrade tool fails because ubuntu.com is
overloaded and the updater cannot fetch the file
http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/hardy/main/dist-upgrader-
all/current/ReleaseAnnouncement

The actual upgrade files are downloaded from a local server but this
file from Ubuntu.com. So if Ubuntu.com is down/slow/something one cannot
upgrade.

I think this file should be mirrored as well as all other files.

[Bug 86168] Re: kded crashes in KWallet (forgotten KMail password)

2008-03-14 Thread Risto H. Kurppa
Confirm this on Gutsy w. 3.5.9 (but I've had it on 3.5.8 as well, maybe
even 3.5.7, not sure).

KWallet asks for password (for Kopete)
Type in password
- KDED starts eating 100% of processor power, all KDE applications stop
(akregator, kopete, konqueror..)

Killing the kded process solves this.

Looks like that kded likes to eat some resources:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kdeutils/+bug/115739
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kdelibs/+bug/194474
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kdelibs/+bug/196005
(Maybe not duplicates but in all of them 100% of processor resources are used
because of 'different reasons')

Funny enough, the KDE bugrep is from year 2003..

[Bug 29438] Re: Freeze on save of document. File created with zero bytes.

I'm running gutsy and noticed that if I run out of disk space on root,
OOo freezes occasionally and I have to kill it. If I get to save it
before it freezes, it freezes, saves a 0K file - and I kill it again.
Target to save is under /home that's not on the same partition as rest
of the system. / -partition is the one that's full.

I'm not sure if this should be reported as new but I decided to put it
here since the final result is the same as in this bugrep..

12/12/07 23:33:25 Listening for VNC connections on TCP port 5904
failed to set default font path ''
Fatal server error:
could not open default font 'fixed'

This seems to help (at least until reboot): sudo ln -s
/usr/share/fonts/X11 /usr/share/X11/fonts

So this bug still seems to exist in Gutsy..

Bibliography tool doesn't work unless you manually install openoffice.org2-base.
If it isn't installed, it doesn't crash but the bibliography tool is somewhat

I think that the user at least should be notified that base needs to be
installed for this to work if not install base by default or when user
opens the bibliography tool.

[Bug 84721] Re: [Feisty Fawn] konqueror doesn't open url but save

2007-04-23 Thread Risto H. Kurppa
This bug still exitst on a fresh install of Feisty Kubuntu: Looks like
it's able to open any address the user writes, but fails when you click
on a link: It asks where to save the file or what program to use to open
the file (suggests Kate). Opening in a new tab works ok.

This happens for example on all wikipedia links so I don't think it's a
server side problem.

I have installed latest Swiftfox so I'd guess there is a possibility
that it has changed something but looks weird to me anyway.

[Bug 84721] Re: [Feisty Fawn] konqueror doesn't open url but save

2007-04-23 Thread Risto H. Kurppa
I was able to fix this in konqueror - settings - file type bindings
(or similar..)

In the HTML bindigs, for some reason Kate was listed before Konqueror.
Moving Konqueror above Kate made it work as supposed.

I don't know what's the reason for this but this seems to be the fix. So
this is a plain Feisty Kubuntu install and no other packages installed
than stuff available from default repos and Swiftfox.

I set the KDE sound release to 1 sec, disabled the sound system from
system settings, installed alsa-oss and restarted - and now it works.

[Bug 57789] Re: Amarok skips some tracks without reason

2007-03-10 Thread Risto H. Kurppa
I have Edgy Amarok 1.4.5 and I haven't noticed skipping of tracks any
more. I don't have crossover enabled but could try if that matters. Now
sometimes Amarok starts playing podcast streams not from beginning but
some 1min 30s from the start but that's another issue, and works OK if I
start playing the stream again.

Will do crossover testing.

[Bug 114915] Gamma adjust dialog slider doesn't move properly

2007-05-15 Thread Risto H. Kurppa
Public bug reported:

If I open Lprof, select 'Monitor Profiler', press 'Enter Monitor Values'
and then press 'Set Gamma and Black Point', I get a black screen with
the test images and a slider to adjust the gamma level. This slider
doesn't move smoothly but keeps jumping or doesn't move at all, so it's
really hard to adjust the gamma level.

Using Feisty / lprof package version 1.11.4.dfsg+1.11.4.1-2

[Bug 72995] Re: Need better way of handling permissions with nano and sudo mix

Confirmed here with Feisty. I've usually just changed the permissions of
the file but I think it should work out of the box..

[Bug 113478] XScreensaver: directory does not exist: /usr/share/backgrounds

2007-05-08 Thread Risto H. Kurppa
Public bug reported:

Using Kubuntu 7.04, I installed packages xscreensaver and xscreensaver-
gl

Now when i run xscreensaver-demo and change the selected screensaver to
see a preview, I get a popup windows saying 'Directory does not exist:
/usr/share/backgrounds' and OK button.

Terminal says

xscreensaver: 04:32:45: 0: unrecognised ClientMessage _NET_WM_STATE received
xscreensaver: 04:32:45: 0: for window 0x23032e0 (konqueror / Konqueror)
xscreensaver: 04:33:38: 0: unrecognised ClientMessage _NET_ACTIVE_WINDOW
received
xscreensaver: 04:33:38: 0: for window 0x3a048e8 (xscreensaver-demo /
Xscreensaver-demo)
xscreensaver-getimage-file: /usr/share/backgrounds does not exist
usage: xscreensaver-getimage-file [--verbose] [--name] file-or-directory

Puts the given image file (or a randomly selected image from the
given directory) on the root window. If --name is specified,
just prints the selected filename to stdout instead.

xscreensaver: 04:33:40: 0: unrecognised ClientMessage _NET_ACTIVE_WINDOW
received
xscreensaver: 04:33:40: 0: for window 0x2200173 (konqueror / Konqueror)
xscreensaver: 04:34:47: 0: unrecognised ClientMessage _NET_ACTIVE_WINDOW
received
xscreensaver: 04:34:47: 0: for window 0x247 (konsole / Konsole)

I'm sure I can 'fix' this on my install by creating the folder, but I think
either the directory should be created by xscreensaver, by default or
xscreensaver should .. do something else than give the popup.

[Bug 113560] Changing encoding on a sftp window makes konqueror freeze

2007-05-09 Thread Risto H. Kurppa
Public bug reported:

Kubuntu Feisty Konqueror with sftp window open

When I go to 'tools' - 'encoding' - and select something there (for
example iso-8859-something or utf-8), konqueror freezes. White window
with borders, no icons. No error messages on command line. (Sorry if the
menu names are wrong, I use finnish translation)

Kill the window, start a new one and the encoding has been changed.

Can anyone confirm this?
