[Bug 399873] [NEW] Please package python3.1 version 3.1 stable from upstream

2009-07-15 Thread Savvas Radevic
Public bug reported:

Is it possible to update the python3.1 package from rc2 to 3.1 stable at
this time?

This is the changelog:

*Release date: 27-June-2009*

Core and Builtins
-
- Issue #6334: Fix bug in range length calculation for ranges with
  large arguments.
- Issue #6329: Fixed iteration for memoryview objects (it was being blocked
because it wasn't recognized as a sequence).

Library
---
- Issue #6314: logging.basicConfig() performs extra checks on the level
  argument.
- Issue #6274: Fixed possible file descriptors leak in subprocess.py
- Accessing io.StringIO.buffer now raises an AttributeError instead of
  io.UnsupportedOperation.
- Issue #6271: mmap tried to close invalid file handle (-1) when anonymous.
  (On Unix)
- Issue #1202: zipfile module would cause a struct.error when attempting to
  store files with a CRC32 2**31-1.

Extension Modules
-
- Issue #5590: Remove unused global variable in pyexpat extension.

** Affects: python3.1 (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided

[Bug 385833] Re: hello am bhavani shankar

2009-07-16 Thread Savvas Radevic
It has to be merged, not synced! The changes introduced in libmtp
package from 0.3.7-4 up to 0.3.7-7 are debian-specific. And changes
from 0.3.7-1 (Ubuntu karmic current version is based on this one)
until 0.3.7-3 are really minor.

In other words, I would leave the current Ubuntu version as it is,
unless there's a new upstream version of libmtp.

[Bug 136435] Re: smc - Secret Maryo Chronicles - unmet dependency

2009-07-16 Thread Savvas Radevic
According to: http://packages.ubuntu.com/jaunty/smc
..the package depends on: libcegui-mk2-dev

The file /usr/share/games/smc/icon/window_32.png exists in smc-data:
http://packages.ubuntu.com/jaunty/all/smc-data/filelist

You probably have a different version, execute this command (in gnome
terminal):

apt-cache policy smc smc-data

It should print out something like:
smc:
  Installed: 1.7-1
  Candidate: 1.7-1
  Version table:
 1.7-1 0
500 http://archive.ubuntu.com jaunty/universe Packages
smc-data:
  Installed: 1.7-1
  Candidate: 1.7-1
  Version table:
 1.7-1 0
500 http://archive.ubuntu.com jaunty/universe Packages

If it doesn't say Installed: 1.7-1, then you are using a PPA and a different
version. Different versions outside of Ubuntu repositories are not to be
reported here. :)

[Bug 401625] [NEW] if f-spot removed and photo media mounted nautilus shows No applications found

2009-07-20 Thread Savvas Radevic
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

I have a memory stick pro duo card that I use with Sony Ericsson w810i
to import pictures and music to and from the mobile phone. With f-spot
installed, when I mount the memory stick in the memory card reader,
nautilus says it has found some digital photos and allows me to choose
from F-spot, Open folder and Open with other application.

When f-spot is removed ( sudo apt-get remove f-spot ), nautilus shows
No applications found. It should provide Ask what to do in the
nautilus media preferences and Open folder and/or Open with other
application options, not disable it entirely.

Re: [Bug 315679] Re: Please merge libmtp 0.3.0-1ubuntu3 (main) to 0.3.6-1 from Debian (experimental)

2009-04-01 Thread Savvas Radevic
Since it took me so long to learn about the upgrading process, libmtp
0.3.7-1 is in Debian experimental now, if anyone wants to take over to
update this, please do. :)

But before doing any work on this, I'd like to know if the main
sponsors are interested in approving this merge for jaunty. If not, we
could just wait for next release, karmic instead of doing unnecessary
extra work. :)

[Bug 296267] Re: FFe: Please sync with upstream version of Midori to the latest version, the current version is very unstable alpha

2009-04-02 Thread Savvas Radevic
Hi, I thought of providing some more info for this bug report:

v0.1.5:
+ Add a Colorful Tabs extension
 + Support downloading with WebKitGTK+ 1.1.3
+ Load and save settings of extensions
 + Drop internal source view
 + Require WebKitGTK+ 1.1.1, Glib 2.16 and libsoup 2.25.2

v0.1.4:
+ Automatic inline find can be disabled
 + Implement an Encoding menu
+ Add Open all in Tabs for bookmarks and history
+ Bookmarks can be moved to other folders
+ Fix blank page 'loading' and HTTP authentication
+ Display history dates in the local format
+ Allow editing of completion items

v0.1.3:
+ Sidepanel can be aligned on the right
+ Bookmarks can be organized in folders
+ Support find as you type
 + Support international domain names
 + Tweak location completion
 + Provide default search engines
+ Integrate with Maemo if available
 + Implement Mouse Gestures extension
 + Implement a Plugins panel
+ Editing the toolbar via a context menu
+ Introduce Zoom Text and Images preference

Comparing to the package midori 1.4-2 (Debian experimental), it requires the
update of some other packages, libwebkit-dev (= 1.1):

2009-04-02 Thread Savvas Radevic
I guess the only (important?) bug fix in these versions is this one:

The rest of them seem improvements, featureful, yet I don't know if the

Re: [Bug 190791] Re: Please re-add cinepaint to Ubuntu

2009-09-04 Thread Savvas Radevic
I've done the legwork for the packaging. It's a new package, built
from scratch for all 3 packages (about 4 hours of head banging against
the wall). I'm new in library binary packaging, so there surely must
be some mistakes in the packaging. I used cinepaint from the 0.25.0
from CVS (a version control system). :)
The version 0.22.1 does not build anymore (I bumped on some error
that I forgot now, but the recommendation to some other user was to
use cvs - so I did and voila!).
As it is right now, it can run. The rest will have to wait until
someone actually tests it with media files and comment. :)

Re: [Bug 155059] Re: Description does not contain the word money

2009-08-24 Thread Savvas Radevic
KMyMoney's description doesn't contain money in its description
either, except in its name and in a reference to MS-Money... and I
cannott find a proper description for grisbi where money would fit.
 Does anyone has a suggestion?

How about currencies - money currencies or expenditure -
money expenditure? It doesn't have to make 100% sense :)

Grisbi is a personal accounting program. Grisbi can manage multiple
accounts, money currencies and users. It manages third party, expenditure
and receipt categories, as well as budgetary lines, financial years,
and other informations that makes it adapted for both personal
 and associative accounting.

By the way, I think this is fixed with xapian search and debtags. I
think they are used in newer versions of apt-get / aptitude:
http://debtags.alioth.debian.org/
http://debtags.alioth.debian.org/edit.html?pkg=grisbi

Try http://debtags.alioth.debian.org/ssearch.html and look for
money. Grisbi is in the results!
Can someone with karmic 9.10 execute aptitude search money and
apt-get search money to check it out?

[Bug 419554] [NEW] [karmic] FTBFS report with fix proposal (and some packaging improvements)

2009-08-26 Thread Savvas Radevic
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: packagekit-gnome

Note: This is a different type of FTBFS from bug #364443
Note 2: I think this FTBFS blocks bug #406426

1. GDK_MULTIHEAD_SAFE should not be set, as it breaks with new libcanberra-gtk.
Source:
http://git.gnome.org/cgit/gnome-packagekit/commit/?id=de956ee8df6e7514abcf5896bef8ad964ac81368
2. I've also included the patch used for the FTBFS on some architectures
(sparc, armel, hppa, ia64).
3. Included patch from bug #349572 to install usr/share/icons/hicolor/ folder.
4. Some package improvements.

  * debian/patches/configure.patch:
+ FTBFS on some archs: Disable -Wcast-align. (LP: #249104)
+ FTBFS: Disable GDK_MULTIHEAD_SAFE, as it breaks with new libcanberra-gtk.
  (LP: TODO)
  * debian/packagekit-gnome.install:
- Use directories, there is no need to name files one by one:
  + debian/tmp/usr/bin/
  + debian/tmp/usr/share/man/
  + debian/tmp/usr/share/locale/
  + debian/tmp/usr/share/applications/
  + debian/tmp/usr/share/gnome-packagekit/
  + debian/tmp/usr/share/icons/hicolor/
- Sort list
  * debian/copyright: Now dep5-compatible, updated FSF address.
  * debian/control: Removed edge from XS-Vcs-Bzr.
  * debian/rules: Define DEB_PYTHON_SYSTEM := pycentral

Patch not tested yet, please wait. :)

[Bug 249104] Re: FTBFS on sparc, armel, hppa, ia64 due to false positive warning and -Wcast-align

2009-08-26 Thread Savvas Radevic
There's another FTBFS, but on all archs. bug #419554 :)

I will post a patch *here* (bug #249104) with some (rather minor)
package improvements. I'll attach the patch when I test it. (I'll post a
comment to the other related bugs as well!)

[Bug 402783] [NEW] [needs-packaging] haskell-zip-archive

2009-07-21 Thread Savvas Radevic
Public bug reported:

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=518699

This package is required for pandoc 1.x - See bug #309528

* Package name: haskell-zip-archive
  Version : 0.1.1.3
Upstream Author : John MacFarlane j...@berkeley.edu
* URL :
http://hackage.haskell.org/cgi-bin/hackage-scripts/package/zip-archive
* License : GPL-2
  Programming Lang: Haskell
Description : Haskell functions for creating, modifying, extracting files
from zip archives
The zip-archive library provides functions for creating, modifying,
and extracting files from zip archives.
 .
Certain simplifying assumptions are made about the zip archives: in
particular, there is no support for encryption, zip files that span
multiple disks, ZIP64, OS-specific file attributes, or compression
methods other than Deflate. However, the library should be able to
read the most common zip archives, and the archives it produces should
be readable by all standard unzip programs.
 .
As an example of the use of the library, a standalone zip archiver
and extracter, Zip.hs, is provided in the source distribution.

[Bug 314038] Re: Integrated video interface is broken in Jaunty

2009-07-21 Thread Savvas Radevic
I have updated the description.
szofiel:
- vlc 1.0 works pretty well. Try it out from the repositories.

- You could also try out: apt://smplayer

Correct me if I'm wrong, but from the looks of it, vlc 1.0 might not be
updated in jaunty (Ubuntu 9.04) because of its dependencies. It is
already in karmic (future 9.10) though. :)

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: vlc

This is same issue as in bug #282582 (was for intrepid). Patch described
  in
  https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/vlc/+bug/282582/comments/6
was dropped during last merge, but it's still required for Integrated
  video interface with 0.9.8a.

UPDATE: The problem will probably NOT be solved until a stable 1.0 is
released.
The problem is solved upstream with *extensive* changes in the 1.0 branch,
now past first Release Candidate. We (the VideoLAN project) will _not_ backport
the fix to the 0.9 series.
  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/vlc/+bug/314038/comments/24

- SOLUTION (temporary): There is a package that contains a temporary patch
- which re-enables the integrated video interface, install vlc from this
- PPA: http://launchpad.net/~medigeek/+archive/ppa
+ SOLUTION (temporary):
+ vlc 1.0 is out, you can get it from one of these PPA repositories:
+ a) https://launchpad.net/~c-korn/+archive/vlc
+ b) https://launchpad.net/~motumedia/+archive/ppa

- DOWNSIDE: Note that by using this patch, vlc probably might crash,
- that's normal and that's why this patch is not proposed as a fix for
- jaunty.
+ DOWNSIDES of vlc 1.0:
+ None so far

[Bug 403507] [NEW] Please sync smc (universe) to 1.8-1 from Debian unstable (main)

2009-07-23 Thread Savvas Radevic
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: smc

There was an inconsistency that required a -dev package (libcegui-
mk2-dev). There was also an FTBFS error and the package depends on
unversioned libboost-filesystem-dev. This is now fixed in 1.8-1
package, please sync. :)

   * New upstream release. (Closes: #526445)
   * Bug 'FTBFS: Nonexistent build-dependency: libboost-filesystem1.37-dev' has
been fixed in this revision. In order to accomplish that, smc now
build-depends on unversioned boost packages. (Closes: #534087, #531120)
   * Bug 'smc: freezes machine and won't exit' is not found in this revision
 anymore. (Closes: #488744)
   * smc does not depend on libcegui-mk2-dev for executing properly. This
problem was due the fact that the CEGUI's module loading depended on .so
links, which were only found in the -dev package. CEGUI has been now
changed
in order to make it use *.so.* directly. (Closes: #454679)
   * Bumped standards version to 3.8.2
   * smc-music package has been updated to version 4.1.

Note: It's not in unstable yet, it is currently being built:
http://packages.qa.debian.org/s/smc.html

[Bug 200868] Re: nvidia-settings doesn't have permissions to write xorg.conf

2009-07-26 Thread Savvas Radevic
Thank you!! We'll need someone to review the patch ( Albero Milone? ).

Are all those direct changes to files (except in ./debian/ folder) for
policy kit and dbus?

To speed things up, I'm including a debdiff patch. I compared it to
current jaunty.

In case you're wondering how I did the debdiff:
$ apt-get source nvidia-settings
$ dget -u
https://edge.launchpad.net/~morten-justesen/+archive/ppa/+files/nvidia-settings_180.25-0ubuntu2~ppa3.dsc
$ debdiff nvidia-settings_180.25-0ubuntu1.dsc
nvidia-settings_180.25-0ubuntu2~ppa3.dsc ~/Desktop/patch.debdiff
More info and example: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PackagingGuide/Recipes/Debdiff

But I thought I would share it, it works but I must warn I'm a complete
 newbie with this stuff.
Any help is *very* appreciated! :)

Re: [Bug 346776] Re: computer-janitor VCS setup in Launchpad is a mess

It's not that hard, you have to request the renaming as a question in
launchpad answers:
https://answers.launchpad.net/launchpad/
https://answers.launchpad.net/launchpad/+addquestion

(I think that each rename must be requested as a separate question)

2009/8/19 Lars Wirzenius l...@ubuntu.com

I managed to rename this ~systemcleaner-hackers to ~computer-janitor-

  automake | 1:1.10.2-0ubuntu3.09.04 | jaunty-proposed | all
  automake | 1:1.11-1 |karmic | all

But I wonder why the debian system builds them:

Shouldn't the ppa build system and the debian build system be

I'm sorry, I think I understand why it doesn't work:
- automake1.9 source package has a binary package automake1.9 defined.
- automake1.10 source package has a automake binary package, but also has
Provides: automaken, automake1.10.

I filed this under automake1.10 source package and changed the title. I
hope I'm right, unless the ppa build system should read the Provides
packages (?)

[Bug 413928] Re: Please merge automake1.10 (1:1.10.2-2) from Debian unstable (and create automake1.10 package)

2009-08-21 Thread Savvas Radevic
I think we're supposed to upload the diff.gz in this case, right?

http://launchpadlibrarian.net/30656173/buildlog_ubuntu-
karmic-i386.automake1.10_1%3A1.10.2-2ubuntu1_FULLYBUILT.txt.gz

P.S. I added (LP: #413928) to debian/changelog in the uploaded
diff.gz.

** Attachment added: automake1.10_1.10.2-2ubuntu1.diff.gz
