[Bug 475734] Re: FM Radio tuner of WinTV PCI (Conexant CX23881-19 chip) doesn't work

2010-07-05 Thread WalterHangartner
I have a similar problem running Ubuntu 10.04 and HVR-3000 card.
DVB-T Tv works fine with Kaffeine.

I installed Gnomeradio 1.8 (through Software Center), it finds the
device /dev/radio, but scanning the stations gives no result.

So FM Radio doesn' t work.

[Bug 373757] Re: [i815] graphics corruption while moving mouse / opening menus (UXA bug)

2010-01-13 Thread WalterHangartner
It seems this problems still occurs in 9.10. I had the same problem in
a fresh install of version 9.10 with intel 815 graphics.

My workaround was to create a xorg.conf with

Section Device
Identifier Configured Video Device
Option NoAccel true
EndSection

The option with DRI didn't work.

[Bug 610200] Re: kernels after 2.6.32-17 have random failures in booting

2010-08-04 Thread WalterHangartner
With maverick about half the boots work. I have a 10.04 on same machine,
and this boots all the time. I have ATI Radeon HD4550 graphics with
HDMI. I use open source drivers. When the boot does not complete, then I
have a strange pattern on screen, the top third of screen is black and
below is this pattern.

I have the impression that it stops just before outputing the welcome
sound.

I can however shudown by shortly pressing the power button on computer,
there comes a terminal window and shutdown succeeds

[Bug 614256] [NEW] display freezes on boot

2010-08-06 Thread WalterHangartner
Public bug reported:

About half of the time the display freezes on boot. It is just before
playing the welcome sound. It can also happen that it boots and then
there is a popping noise in speakers which does not stop.

My analysis of syslog shows in case of freeze:

Note that in second case we have this IRQ timing error with sound card.

It seems this problem is related to graphics card HD4550 which outputs
sound over HDMI. I am using open source drivers only.

In previous versions of ubuntu I had all kind of other problems with
this card.

In 10.04 I had no sound at all.
With Windows 7 on same machine everything works perfectly.

I know there are always hints on configuring the model in alsa-conf but
as my system is alpha-3 it would be good if somebody could tackle the
real problem.

[Bug 1337996] Re: [HP 2133, Analog Devices AD1984A] No sound from speakers, headphones work

2014-11-30 Thread WalterHangartner
I had exactly the same problem with Lubuntu 14.10 and HP2133. I was able to
workaround by using program HDAJackRetask of package also-tools (including GUI).
I used as settings see attachment, and then got sound on speakers.

The interesting thing is, that even after removing this settings, the sound
works perfectly now.
So in fact no confguration files have changed and now it works.

[Bug 1265611] Re: No sound with HDA Intel, VIA VT8237A/VT8251, kernel 3.12

2015-05-21 Thread WalterHangartner
I can confirm a similar behavior as described in post #7.

1. I installed Ubuntu Studio 15.04 on the harddisk and there was no way to get
sound from speakers.
2. I started Ubuntu Studio 12.04.5 from a USB stick with persistence and did
all updates.
3. With 12.04.5 initial system and also after update I had sound on speakers.
4. I boot 15.04, with power connected, and there is sound on speakers.
5. I boot 15.04 using the battery, and there is NO sound on speakers.
6. I boot 15.04, with power connected, and there is NN sound on speakers.

7. I go back and can repeat cycle starting at item 3.

I also verified, that when just temporarily removing power cable before
step 4, I still have sound in step 4.

I think that my post #7 was a wrong conclusion.
