[ubuntu-art] Suggestion about notification bubble
Hi! I'm writing here just to do a suggestion about the notification bubble. I think the new notification bubble has a little problem: it is difficult to realize what is the icon the bubble is pointing. In the attached image you can see a notification bubble, near to many icons, but it's difficult to see the icon which generates the notification bubble. This problem didn't exists with the Breezy notification bubble (which was cleaner, at least for me). What could be done in order to have a better notification bubble? We went to quite a lot of trouble to make the popup cleaner and classier, and I don't think we can tweak that more now, but we can address it in Dapper+1. Hi, Here is a systematic way of trying things. Could you come on IRC tonight, or at some pre-arranged time to work on this? 1. Let us start with a single Malayalam font, and check the rendering on the system, before worrying about Indic-enabled browsers. If you are aware of which fonts provide Malayalam on your system, please remove them temporarily, and start with the Samyak font from http://www.gnowledge.org/Gnoware/localization/Samyak_Font/new/Samyak_Malayalam.ttf 2. After installing Samyak, show me the output of fc-list :lang-ml 3. The best Unicode editor that I have come across is yudit (http://www.yudit.org/), though it is not very efficient as an editor. Install this, either by compiling it yourself, or from an Ubuntu package. yudit uses a configuration file, ~/.yudit/yudit.properties. There is also a system-wide file, /usr/share/yudit/config/yudit.properties, that is copied the first time you start up yudit. So, make the suggested change below to the system-wide file *before* starting yudit, or to the personal file of the user you are running as. Edit yudit.properties, find the line starting with, yudit.font.TrueType=..., and append the name of the .ttf font file for Samyak, e.g., Samyak_Malayalam.ttf. To avoid confusion, I have attached my yudit.properties file that you can simply copy to the appropriate location. Make the font available to yudit. Copy the .ttf file to /usr/share/yudit/fonts, or make a symbolic link to where you have installed it in the system. Start up yudit. If you are using the yudit.properties file that I have attached, you should now see TrueType in the font tab (third from left), and Malayalam in the input tab. Else, do a shift+F2 for the font tab, and a F3 for the input tab, with the attached yudit.properties file. Now you should be able to type in Malayalam with a pseudo-phonetic (ITRANS) layout. If you prefer Inscript, use F2. 4. Ideally, one would check rendering with a comprehensive list of conjuncts in Malayalam, e.g., for an Oriya equivalent, see http://oriya.sarovar.org/or_conjuncts.html. While it can be time- consuming, and sometimes a contentious issuse, to come up with such a list, my personal feeling is that it is essential. Please let me know if you would be willing to type this up in yudit, which should render it correctly. It is sufficent to start with a list from a dictionary, for example. 5. Armed with such a list, and what is hopefully a reference rendering from yudit, I, or someone else, could fix any bugs in Pango. If it is too much of a hassle to compile a complete list, you can type in snippets that have improper rendering, save the file as utf-8 (default with yudit), and open it in gedit to investigate differences in rendering. 6. Todas vez que ele reinicia as placas de rede eth0 e eth1 voltam down. ifconfig eth0 192.160.0.1 up ifconfig eth1 192.160.0.2 up ifconfig eth0 127.0.0.1 lo (endereço de loopback) Como eu faça para que estas linhas sempres seja inicias quando o sistema subir Verifique o arquivo /etc/network/interfaces Lá deve constar coisas do tipo: auto lo inet loopback auto eth0 inet manual address 192.160.0.1 broadcast 192.160.0.255 netmask 255.255.255.0 E assim por diante. No menu de preferências do Gnome, em rede, também é possível fazer esses ajustes. Se não tiver o aplicativo, apt-get nele. Abraço! N esta configurado a rede pois qdo eu instalei disse q n foi possivel configurar o rede DHCP, n sei que eu devo fazer! No painel de rede visualizo o eth0 mas esta como disabilitado! Se você está em casa, com o micro no Ubuntu ligado direto no modem adsl, não é possível usar DHCP. Configure a eth0 para 192.168.0.1 Aí então rode o pppoeconf (Ou configurador de PPPoE, ou configurador de conexão ADSL do seu painel do gnome). Vou tentar resolver esse problema no fim de semana ond vou pro escritorio do meu pai e ligar o pc num rub ond distribui a conexão. Todas as maquinas jah entram conectadas, tenho os ips necessarios para realizar isso, mas no Provavelmente na rede do seu pai existe um DHCP server. Uma máquina Windows XP com o Internet Conexion Sharing tem um DHCP embutido. Ele dá os IPs para as máquinas. windows. minha necessidade de utilizar a interne é apenas para atualização e para baixar alguns pacotes, como PHP APACHE MYSQL Tem como eu fazer isso no Kubuntu? para jah entrar conectado e compartilhando a internet com as outras maquinas? Linux e Windows são bem diferentes nesse sentido. O protocolo da Internet, TCP/IP nasceu no Unix e tem no Linux sua forma mais desenvolvida. Realmente não é muito fácil configurar redes no Linux, mas uma vez aprendido, nunca mais se esquece. Tente o que eu falei lá em cima em casa e na rede do seu pai deixe como DHCP. Se seu micro entrar na rede do seu pai com o mesmo IP de outra máquina você pode travar a conexão dessa máquina. Desculpa esse transtorno mas me rendi ao linux pois vi as diversas vantagens... e espero vencer essas dificuldades para familiarizar mais com o ambiente. Bem vindo ao mundo da liberdade. Com relação a mensagem 3 do Flávio Henrique, acho que tenho um problema parecido e não encontrei resposta no Fórum. Minha máquina (AMD 64bits / 512 RAM / SATA 80GB) simplesmente não reconhece mais o HD. Tinha Windows XP (NTFS) e eu criei outra partição para o Ubuntu. Usei 2 vezes normalmente, e ontem ao ler um pendrive no GNU/Linux o computer travou. Reiniciei, (não sei se foi certo) e não ocorria mais o dual boot nem boot nenhum pois não é reconhecido mais HD instalado. E agora? Alberto, não é só vc que tem essas dificuldades, varias outras pessoas tambem tem, a verdade é que a instalacao de programas no linux evoluiu muito e ainda vai evoluir mais, estava vendo o tal do autopackage[1] e espero mesmo que os desenvolvedores começem a usa-lo na instalacao de seus programas, os repositorios sao otimos, mas se o linux quer mesmo alcancar usuarios leigos, seres humanos, como diz o slogan do ubuntu, tem q haver uma simplificacao, mas sem abrir mao da qualidade, claro! :) nao desista, continue na trilha do linux, que mesmo com todas suas dificuldades, ainda assim vale mais a pena do que usar o lixo do concorrente ¬¬ [1]: http://autopackage.org/ Em 30/03/06, Alberto Rolim [EMAIL PROTECTED] escreveu: gente, Deixa eu contar um descontentamento que estou tento com o linux, apesar de tantas maravilhas que o pinguin me retribuiu, mas esta esta me deixando triste. eu acho coisa complicada este negocio de atualizar/instalar programas no linux pq eles nao vivem sem internet, ou seja, mesmo que eu instale pela internet determinado programa em meu linux no trabalho no qual é instalado sem problema algum e se eu levo para casa este programa, eu tenho um monte de dificuldades pra instalar, pois comeca a pedir um monte de dependencias, nao importando se a maquina é recem instalada, se ja tem varios pacotes instalados ou etc dificultando o processo de instalação que eu julgava ser facil (ja que eu copiei todos os repositorios novos do meu trabalho). ontem, um vizinho meu comprou um computador que ja vinha o linux kurumin instalado, e sabendo que sao daqueles que nao conhecem nada de informatica, a nao ser um pouco de windows, msoffice e mais nada, tinha quase certeza que eles iriam querer colocar o window no lugar do linux no qual ja tinham ate me perguntado qto e qdo eu poderia instalar pra eles, entao, antes mesmo de comecarem a pensar mais seriamente nisso, comecei a evangelizar o pinguin, como: é mais seguro, dá menos problema, os programas sao a vontade e etc, e faziam mtas perguntas como: aqui nao podemos fazer trabalhos escolar!! entao usem o openoffice q tem tudo e mais um pouco nao consigo gravar cd deixa eu instalar o k3b pra vc saber quero colocar minhas musicas pra dentro do computador entao deixa eu tentar fazendo isso, aquilo, acola, .. mas como diziam que o kurumin é feito para usuários leigos, e parecia que tinha tudo nele, nem optei em fazer mta coisa, mas fiquei amarrado em instalar qualquer coisa nova, pois precisa do cd do kokar e ele n tem internet pra instalar, a unica coisa que podia tentar era tentar instalar os repositorios do debian ou ubuntu que eu tinha ate em dvd, mas mesmo sendo o kurumin sendo um programa baseado no debian, nao consigia instalar quase nada (acho que somente uns 15% consegui). fora nao saber usar ele que parecia meio complicado, me descupem os amantes do kurumim, nao achei tao facil assim para usuarios iniciantes, ate eu que ja entendo algo me enrolei :( é mto cheio de atalhos e programas deixando os usuarios q nao conhecem nada ainda ficarem todos enrolados e os caras querendo usar! querendo converver audio para seu computador, gravar cd, jogar varios jogos e etc. ja estava ficando nervoso entao resolvi sugeri pra ele mudar pra ubuntu, pois esta versao eu ja conhecia, eu tinha varios repositorios, e blablabla. Achei mais pratico, pois nao precisava de um monte de atalhos pra fazer a transferencia de imagens de uma maquina digital pra pc (no kurumim achei este processo mto chato pra iniciante e ate pra mim mesmo), ou a gravacao facil de cd que o nautilus dá (apesar de ser simples, mas pra iniciantes isto é bom), o uso do gnome, no qual nao enche a tela de um monte de programas deixando o iniciante todo enrolado. mas apesar de ter facilitado um pouco, tive dificuldade em instar programas consagrados e que resolveria a necessidade do meu vizinho e faria ele se sentir satisfeito, programas como o amarok, o k3b, mplayer, f-spot e diversos outros, mas pq é tao facil instalar estes programas em computadores que tem internet do que em computadores que nao tem??? e olha que eu gravei um cd com todos os repositorios baixados e tentei instalar por este cd os programas mencionados na casa do meu vizinho, e apesar de ter dado certo e sem problema em meu trabalho e pq deu um monte de problema na casa dele por falta de dependencias (eu ja n tinha baixado estas dependencias em meu trabalho) só por causa da tentativa de trazer mais adeptos pro mundo linux, cheguei ate a brigar com minha mulher pois eu só chego em casa meia noite, uma da manha, só TENTANDO conseguir instalar os programas mencionados acima. sera que nao tem um jeito facil de instalar este programas, ou seja, utilizar o repositorio que eu baixei no qual todas as dependencias foram sanadas, levar para a casa do meu vizinho (gravado em cd todas as dependencias e o programa em si), e conseguir

O segredo é sempre o mesmo, copiar *.deb para /var/cache/apt/archives como eu descrevi nao importa onde esses .deb foram obtidos. Agora se sua intenção for ter exatamente tudo entao siga a orientacao do colega da lista e crie um mirror local e depois passe para DVD. Acho que no caso dele é melhor, pois ele precisa atualizar o sistema. Se você copia os debs para /var/cache o sistema só vai entender se a base de dados do apt estiver atualizada, o que não é possível sem uma conexão com a Internet (que acho que é o caso). Se a lista do apt está atualizada (apt-get update funciona) então ter os arquivos no /var/cache/apt/archives serão usados se forem da mesma versão, caso contrário o apt (ou seu front-end synaptic ou aptitude) tentarão buscar no repositório na internet (ou cd-rom). /var/cache/apt/archives/*.deb e todos os debs que existirem no seu sistema deverao ser copiados para ~/repositorio/updates (que mais tarde será jogado no cd). Se voce inverter a ordem do que eu disse nao vai dar certo. ubuntu-updates.txt é um arquivo vazio que foi criado com touch ubuntu-updates.txt, num dos passos anteriores. []'s e sucesso. Obrigada, Patrícia Convido-os a participar da VI Seminfo, evento organizado pelos alunos dos Cursos de Tecnologia em Informática e Tecnologia em Desenvolvimento de Sistemas Distribuídos, em conjunto com o Departamento Acadêmico de Informática e o apoio do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Tecnologia da Universidade Tecnológica Federal do Paraná. O evento será realizado entre os dias 3 e 7 de abril, no Mini-auditório da UTFPR. O evento tem como objetivo apresentar à sociedade temas relacionados à área de informática. Além de proporcionar a discussão de temas relevantes da área, o evento também proporcionará a integração entre estudantes, empresas, outras instituições de ensino e profissionais de informática. Entre os temas abordados estão cabeamento estruturado, software livre nas empresas, jogos eletrônicos, redes de computadores, banco de dados, redes wireless, construção de sites, entre outros. A VI Seminfo ainda oferece mini-cursos de JAVA (básico), programação Bash e Map Server. No sábado, dia 8 de abril, será realizada uma install-fest, em que os interessados poderão levar suas máquinas de casa para que técnicos instalem distribuições do Sistema Operacional Linux. Foram convidados palestrantes de empresas, como HSBC, Mandriva, Policab, Urbtec, ICI, DeltaCore. Além do pessoal envolvido com comunidades de software livre, há ainda profissionais da área de informática que trabalham no Governo Federal. As palestras serão abertas ao público em geral, porém, para a obtenção do certificado de participação, ao final do evento, será necessário formalizar a inscrição, mediante a doação de 2 kg de alimentos não-perecíveis (exceto sal). Para participação nos mini-cursos serão cobrados 2 litros de leite longa vida (caixinha) para cada mini-curso. O período de inscrição será entre os dias 27 e 31 de março, na secretária do Departamento Acadêmico de Informática (DAINF) da UTFPR, e entre os dias 3 e 7 de abril, no Mini-auditório da UTFPR. No período de 20 a 31 de março, estará disponível no site do evento um formulário para pré-inscrição. Neste caso, será necessária a confirmação mediante doação do alimento na secretária do DAINF entre os dias 27 e 31 de março, ou no Mini-auditório, durante a realização do evento. Instalei o Abiword e o gnumeric e gostei muito, muito leves e funcionam bem com documentos do microsoft office. mesmo assim queria instalar o broffice mas nao estou conseguindo, já baixei e executei o sudo dpkg -i *.deb dentro da pasta dos .deb mas ele só reinstala o openoffice.org (que já tinha removido com sudo apt-get remove openoffice.org) e quando tento remover o openoffice pelo synaptic e dá probelma de pacotes (hold). alguém sabe como devo proceder pra ter o broffice rodar??? Olá Ubuntusers, Acabo de criar, com a ajuda do MarioMeyer, uma equipe brasileira especializada no Xubuntu, que é um desktop Ubuntu que utiliza o gerenciador de janelas XFCE. Sendo o XFCE mais leve que o GNOME, consegue-se rodar o Xubuntu em computadores com poucas memória RAM e capacidade de processamento. O objetivo da equipe Xubuntu-BR é reunir brasileiros que usam o Xubuntu para: 1) Ajudar no desenvolvimento do mesmo, sendo com reportagem de bugs, traduções, sugestões etc.; 2) Trocar idéias e tirar dúvidas relacionadas ao projeto; 3) Aproveitar hardware antigo utilizando software livre; Quem se interessar pode estar entrando na lista de dicussão do projeto[1] e na equipe do Xubuntu-BR no Launchpad[2]. Salut, Bref, ça dépend des intérêts de chacun ... pour ce qui est de la connexion, pour le quidam qui ne télécharge pas comme un dingue, je ne suis pas sûr que ça change grand chose d'être à 2 ou 20 Mo. Et donc, 30 €, ça me semblerait cher de quitter Télé 2 pour Free, tout simplement (çaviendra peut être, ma femme me parle souvent du téléphone quand même :-) ) Je suis d'accord avec Mat. C'es sur ce tableau que je joue aujourd'hui : J'étais chez Wanadoo Cable, Tiscali ADSL (dégroupage partiel), Free (dégroupage partiel) et maintenant Cegetel (dégroupage partiel, ADSL seul). Pourquoi avoir choisit Cegetel plutot que rester chez Free... simplement car c'est là que je pouvais jouer sur le prix global de ma facture de communication. Mes appels en France passe par le GSM. Je n'ai pas besoin de téléphonie IP en France. Mes appels à l'étranger (j'ai de la famille un peu partout) passait avant par onetel, mais maintenant par un service américain de VoIP. La plus part des pays que j'appelle sont gratuit. La VoIP de nos providers français ne m'intéressent pas trop actuellement. La TV ne m'intéresse pas, je l'écoute plus que ne la regarde. Et j'ai ma parabole pointé sur astra (chaînes allemandes non cryptée). Je suis entre 2700m et 3500m du central téléphonique (les données ont changés plusieurs fois chez free et cegetel). L'option TV ne m'est pas intéressante. Donc en résumé, je n'ai besoin que de l'adsl Ma facture globale se découpe alors à : - GSM (2h + gratuit et illimité le soir et week end) - ADSL 2+ - ligne téléphone FT - préselection Cegetel (abonnement gratuit) - VoIP (abonnement gratuit, appel vers les principaux pays américains et européens gratuit, pas de frais de connexion d'appel). Si je prenait le dégroupage total, j'aurai le téléphone IP en France inutile et (bientôt) la TV inutile le forfait reviendrait cher dans mon cas. Je garde la tligne Ft pour le moment pour 2 raisons qui ne me coute pas plus cher : - accès au n° d'urgence - accès au téléphone quand l'adsl ou la box ne marchent plus. C'est à toi de voir ce que tu as besoin réellement, et ensuite voir les compromis à faire. (le dernière grosse panne FT venait d'un équipement VOIP) Bref je trouve que ces offres sont loin d'être vraiment moins chères. Acceleration 3D sur ASUS M6VA-QO22H
Bonsoir a tous, je voulais savoir s'il y a quelqu'un qui a reussi a avoir l'acceleration graphique sur le portable ASUS M6VA-Q022H avec la ATI Radeao Mobility X700 ? j'ai installe le module fglrx sur les source ubuntu, il me dit direct rendering : yes mais j'ai toujours l'impression que c le processeur qui fait le travail (le bruit du ventilo me le certifie ;) ) ... et en plus il n'arrive pas a mettre la resolution 1280 * 800 qu'il oublie completement et dont mon max c 1024 * 768 mais c moche car redimensionne sur l'ecran ! Bonsoir, Je sais que Dapper Drake est repoussé de 2 mois mais n'ai pas compris ce qui génait sa sortie officielle? Tout le monde à l'air de dire qu'il tourne plutôt pas mal non? Qu'est ce qui justifait de décaler le planning habituel? (sur quoi travaillent t'ils encore?)
