-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Here are a couple of points I'll try to devote time to by this weekend: 1. I'll be upgrading Mediawiki, and enabling captcha. 2. I'll install Drupal on mekong (the server on which ubuntu-in.org is hosted). Vivek and Pratul will have full admin rights to this installation. We'll see how the combined Drupal and MediaWiki layout works out. If it clicks, that's great. If it doesn't, we'll go back to the MediaWiki site. Please keep in mind that this possibly involves a PHP version upgrade, and since mekong is a shared server, we'll have to have a chat with the sysadmins of the other LoCo Teams hosted on mekong to resolve this. Let's start at the basics. Who is the resident Istanbul expert around here ? I want a number of screencasts on the absolute basics of using Ubuntu. Configuring network/Internet connections, installing programs, installing security updates. I need one other person to come forward and write down a running commentary sort-of-thing with pictures for people who cannot view screencasts. Then I believe we can all decide on a convenient time to have a vote on IRC. W.R.T. registering ubuntu-in as a registered body in India, there are a lot of legal issues involved. IMHO one of the major things that need to be cleared up is how does Canonical, as the prime sponsor for the website and mailing list, feel about the process. Then there are other logistical issues, including where to have offices, how to arrange for General Meetings (which is a must IIRC, for registered societies). Who can make a screencast on how to install and use Istanbul to make a screencast. :) Another one on getting 3D desktops, the Ubuntu way ? Yes. How-to get Beryl Installed with screencasts will be fun :-) Screencasts will be good and istanbul is the best tool for it. I would suggest Theora/Ogg format using strictly (istanbul uses same). Topics can be decided on wiki and anyone interested can take the responsibility. But the main question is 'where to upload?' How big are the files actually ? I'm assuming you record at 256x192 resolution at maybe 1 frame per second (fast enough IMHO). I don't think they'll be too big to be hosted on the website itself. http://www.ubuntu-in.org/wiki/Special:Upload let's you upload files easily enough :) I'd recommend the Fedora Screencasting Howto for guidance. http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/ScreenCasting -- Soumyadip Modak [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://soumyadip.freemind.in/blog -- ubuntu-in mailing list ubuntu-in@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-in
Re: [ubuntu-in] Hi just want you to know this stupid yaari trick.
On 4/23/07, Ravi S. Kumar [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hi Ubuntu-india, You know one thing.. I was exploring Yaari.com, and was thinking how can this service be so popular instead there is better Orkut. So in the way exploring more, I came witht the truth. They are faking much identity to show a hugh crowd, mostly girls and then luring guys and others to join, and make the community big. Huh, So how it is? Search in your regions, it will show a large list of people there, but finding their profile, you will come with that the profile is not well informative, and the date of profile creation and last editing is same today for most of members. Also, they use same photo for many members. What the heck, dont know why they doing so. It wont make the community real without real people. Maybe, they want to earn some thru advertisements. Also, please dont access your Y! and Google address book from Yaari, that will add those contacts for immediate invitation email, adn so called spams. But there is one thing. Once registred, you can send SMS to any friends in India, and it works better. -- Ravi S. [Bug 55191] Possible error in postrm script
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: language-support-en While removing language-support-en (I know it is highly unlikely someone would do this, but still) I get the following when the postrm runs : Removing language-support-en ... dpkg: error processing language-support-en (--remove): cannot remove file `/usr/share/doc/language-support-en/changelog.gz': Not a directory This usually results in the package not being removed totally and has to be manually cleaned up. apt-get -f install doesn't solve the problem. ** Affects: language-support-en (Ubuntu) Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- Possible error in postrm script https://launchpad.net/bugs/55191 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
