Nice response all of you, but my original query hasn't still been addressed. Actions are great, but we need content submissions. Of course, writing up local Ubuntu specifc events is a good start. +1 to all of you who did help. But the bottomline remains that there is not enough work going on with the website. Let's start at the basics. Who is the resident Istanbul expert around here ? I want a number of screencasts on the absolute basics of using Ubuntu. Configuring network/Internet connections, installing programs, installing security updates. I need one other person to come forward and write down a running commentary sort-of-thing with pictures for people who cannot view screencasts. There needs to be a new section on the website : "Getting started" where we'll be hosting these screencasts and write-ups. Re: elections, Gaurav, if you think someone in the ubuntu-in community deserves to be given more responsibility and elected as Council Member, why don't you propose that person for election. Then I believe we can all decide on a convenient time to have a vote on IRC. W.R.T. registering ubuntu-in as a registered body in India, there are a lot of legal issues involved. IMHO one of the major things that need to be cleared up is how does Canonical, as the prime sponsor for the website and mailing list, feel about the process. Then there are other logistical issues, including where to have offices, how to arrange for General Meetings (which is a must IIRC, for registered societies). Linux-India, the largest FLOSS organisation in India has decided not to operate as a registered society. We need to discuss the pros and cons of a registered society, especially for a pan-India organisation like ubuntu-in. -- Soumyadip Modak [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://soumyadip.freemind.in/blog -- ubuntu-in mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-in
