Verified: not working on Krillin (BQ Aquaris E4.5), rc-proposed revision
351 (i.e. post-OTA11)

ps I'm also a big fan of meet.jit.si and waiting for the time when I'll be

Can someone quickly verify that meet.jit.si/randomexample doesn't work,
so I can say the issue has been through the "buddy system", it appears
they'll ignore any bugs otherwise.

Another one:

The nice thing is that you can use it
- as a service
- inside a private set-top box (spreddbox:
https://www.spreed.me/spreedbox/)
- or as plugin for owncloud
(https://apps.owncloud.com/content/show.php/Spreed.ME?content=174436 ) .

I tried the latter and it works vwery well in general. It should work
even under Touch, but at that time the video embedded in oxide browser
was corrupted; audio and chat worked well. Still have to try under OTA11 .

yeah, the setting says front camera for me, but I have to flip it to
rear camera, then back to front camera, then refresh the browser page,
then it works.

2016-06-07 Thread Alan Bell
well I am fine with the calling app not being Skype or anything
currently recognised as a mainstream branded software as a service
proprietary thing. If webrtc works then lots of things like talky.io
start working and people can host their own standards compliant server
or do interesting peer to peer things, and they all work cross platform
for free because standards. I have zero interest in learning QML and
targetting just this platform, but I am totally interested in doing cool
things that work great on Ubuntu touch first and also other platforms.
What I really want is Firefox OS, but on chromium rather than gecko!

The upside-down front camera on BQ E4.5 is

Sorry, I am still not sure I understand what you mean by "it doesn't
rotate".
From your next sentence it seems like you're talking about "switching from
rear camera to front camera".

Is that what you mean?

im not sure if there is anymore video apps to test in so the ones above
your sat looking at the back of the tablet if they want to see you on the
camera, but then you cant see them on the screen.

Im not sure were to fill the bug for this ?

Hi Wayne,

I'm not sure X11 apps can exploit hw accelerated codecs yet, so not sure
how a videocalling app would work on that.
Although I heard WebRTC based services should work quite well.
What do you mean by "the camera won't rotate" ? Would you mind filing a
bug
against oxide so that the developers can investigate your usecase?

Was thinking if I use facebook video through firefox will
that have access

to the camera and audio even Or anybody tried skype..
Telegram would be great with video I see they are getting voice
messages soon, but video would be the icing on the cake to me.

Please have a look at

Any thoughts appreciated...

Sounds like https://launchpad.net/bugs/1563398, fix targetted for OTA-12.
In the meantime, you can use the browser and change the default camera
in the settings.
