[Bug 252245] Re: unable to connect to windows network pc's

2009-11-07 Thread jorritlinnert
Maintainers, you can add Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic (at Least 64 Bits) to the list, as
it cannot browse the network either. Interestingly enough ii gives exactly the
same error message whether the Win98SE-PC containing the share is attached to
the network or not.
I've tested with by booting to WinXPSP2 on the same box where the error
occured on. With WinXPSP2 I can see the Win98SE-share normally and access it.
The error message on my Karmic is:
Unable to mount location - Failed to retrieve share list from server

[Bug 252245] Re: unable to connect to windows network pc's

2009-11-07 Thread jorritlinnert
additional info on post #10:
ii = it( line 3).
The machine was recently upgraded from Jaunty 64 Bits and has all the fixes to
date applied.
This bug is marked as having low priority, but the majority of people
considering the switch to Ubuntu would have serious doubts of keeping it on
their machines if they have any Windows shares, which brings to mind Bug #1:
Windows has a majority Windows Share. I would therefore like to raise the
priority of this bug to Normal, especially because it has been around for
such a long time.

[Bug 302791] Re: ssh not setting XAUTHORITY, XDG_SESSION_COOKIE

2009-11-07 Thread Tv
You can also do this, to grab stuff from gdm xauth and put it into the
xauth file used by ssh. This way e.g. x2x can access both screens.

cat /var/run/gdm/auth-for-$USER-*/database | xauth merge -

[Bug 120375] Re: cannot boot raid1 with only one disk

2009-11-07 Thread Hosed
Hi, I have Ubuntu 9.04. I have Two (2) 36gb Seagate Cheetah with Raid 1
- Mirroring Setup. When I boot to Ubuntu 9.04 with One (1) of the hard
disks unplugged, it fails to boot, it drops me to a shell with
initramfs. What's the deal with that? Does it mean that Raid1 is NOT
WORKING with Ubuntu 9.04?

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Re: [Bug 403775] [NEW] passwd fails when kerberos server points to an IPv6 host

2009-11-07 Thread Sam Hartman
The following patch is in karmic. It will cause things to work if a
password server has both v4 and v6 addresses and you have v4
connectivity.

I think the 1.7 server has v6 support, but I don't think the 1.7
client even has v6 support.

However, backporting this patch might make the problem less annoying.
commit f6e102ee76028db91a7a973fee8313de352aa5ad
Author: raeburn raeb...@dc483132-0cff-0310-8789-dd5450dbe970

ticket: 5595

Only look for IPv4 addresses for the kpasswd server. This is just a
workaround for other parts of the code failing to cope with IPv6
addresses, and won't work in an IPv6-only environment; the problem
should still be fixed for real.
